To feel like my dating life is over now my hinge account has been banned

I got a message from hinge saying my account has been permanently banned for bullying and harassment but I know for a fact I haven’t done any of that. I have had the account for 3 years and never had a report. Now they have decided to permanently ban me with no chance of getting the account back. This has been really depressing for me because it was the way I used to get dates and meet people. What am I supposed to do now?

Have a go at being single. You might enjoy it. Far better than chasing romance and relationships that will probably not work out.

Im 28 i want a boyfriend!

We’re the same age OP and I don’t really know anyone my age who has found more than a few dates or a shag on any dating app, it’s definitely worth trying to meet someone organically rather than relying on the conveyor belt of online dating

ThatCyanCat · 02/10/2026 15:05

You guys need proper singles events again, where they organise something in real life; might just be a night mingling in a bar or a games arcade, or an actual activity, and people can just socialise and see how they get on. I wonder if people would actually pay for this now.

In the time you've taken to write your original post, read all responses and reply to some of them, you could have drafted and lodged an appeal. Is there a reason you can't do that? Is it because you are not able to write more than one sentence in a single message?

Relationships are not digital OP. My marriage isn’t, our friend’s marriages aren’t, my siblings, friends, none of our relationships are digital and we are all within 5 years of your age, some younger some older.

Do you think the aura of desperation for a boyfriend might be turning people off? I don’t mean that to sound bitchy, the scent of desperation is not a desirable trait. Far better to take a break and let things happen organically.

Uricon2 · 02/10/2026 15:21

You are banned from Hinge. If you don't appeal you'll stay banned. If you do appeal you will either succeed or still be banned. You have literally nothing to lose, as @ThatCyanCat has pointed out. Why won't you try it? I can only think you do know why you've been banned and that reinstatement is unlikely.

If so, there are numerous other apps if you are totally and rather strangely convinced there is absolutely no chance of meeting someone IRL

But hinge was an easy way to get dates. Now rhat cant happen

Well it can’t if you won’t even try to appeal. What do you want people to say here? You’ve been told you can appeal, you can set up a VPN to get a new account, you can try other dating sites, you could take a break and try not to sound so desperate.
Frankly, nothing will change if you aren’t willing to do any of these things.

I don't believe this is a genuine thread. But whether it is or not, I'd say being banned from an online dating site is the least of your problems.

Then you will be in exactly the same position as you are now.

You have nothing to lose but much (apparently) to gain.

This doesn't follow from the exchange that preceded it.

Put in the appeal. If you lose, you haven't lost anything.

This.

To be honest this thread reminds me exactly of the recent holiday one where the op was having a hissy fit over it raining in France as it would ruin her insta photos.

She refused to listen to any suggestions and just ranted away. Have you recently returned from the South of France op?

Yes it is given the fact there are lots of other options.

I do find it hard to believe that anyone thinks like this but that may be because I'm Old.

You have been given plenty of suggestions here. Appeal. Use other dating sites. Try to meet a partner more organically via friends/ pubs / groups.

You are making this a huge problem and acting like Hinge is literally your only option when really it isnt. Also, if you really haven't done anything at all there is no reason why your account wont be reinstated. I suspect there may be more to this though.

The app wasn’t working for you anyway as you are still single.

Take a deep breath, stop with the desperation for a boyfriend (and FYI an app that “is easy for dates” probably isn’t where you’ll find a husband anyway), and just live your life. Get out more, speak to people and let things develop organically.

One of my best friends met her now partner in the waiting pen at the start of the Great North Run last year, my sister met her now fiancé at the gym, get off the apps and start living.

You don't have to drink. The pub was just one suggestion. There are so many groups out there to meet people. Many don't involve drinking.

Overwhelmedandtired · 02/10/2026 15:58

Hakuba · 02/10/2026 15:51

I don’t drink

A pub wasn't the only suggestion mentioned.

To find a boyfriend I'd suggest increasing your network of people. Do you have/could you start any hobbies that involve meeting in person? These don't have to involve drinking, could be exercise (running groups, fitness classes), gaming, food. Even if you don't meet a potential partner there, you can make new friends who know people and can introduce you to them. Having something in common can also make it more likely you are compatible.

What do you do for work? Can you meet more people there?

You need to increase the circle of people you know in order to be more likely to find someone you get on well with. One way is online dating, but there are many others which have worked for centuries, as others have mentioned. It is frustrating if your preferred method has been taken away in a way you feel is unjustified, but the other options are arguably more successful in the long run.

You can’t they track your phone IP address. Literally dont onow what to do now

If you really want Hinge only, then you need to use a VPN and sign up with another email! And hope whoever reported you doesn’t match with you again.
