To feel like my dating life is over now my hinge account has been banned

I got a message from hinge saying my account has been permanently banned for bullying and harassment but I know for a fact I haven’t done any of that. I have had the account for 3 years and never had a report. Now they have decided to permanently ban me with no chance of getting the account back. This has been really depressing for me because it was the way I used to get dates and meet people. What am I supposed to do now?

Appeal it? If you haven’t been bullying and harassing as you say you’ll be given your account back?

PebbleDashAtOne · 02/10/2026 10:19

Are you going to submit an appeal?

NewAgain26 · 02/10/2026 10:19

Well it looks like you can appeal their decision.

And anyway - surely you can use a different App.. In my experience the same users were on all the main apps - so you'll get the same matches.

This is a non issue.

The appeals don’t usually work apparently and they don’t give you a reason why

Ask them to give specific examples of what you did to get banned.

Pootles34 · 02/10/2026 10:21

'Apparently' don't take someone else's word for it, give it a try?

StrawberryMatchaLatte · 02/10/2026 10:22

Find another dating site.

Wolfpa · 02/10/2026 10:22

Very few bullies actually label themselves as bullies, is it possible that the ban is appropriate and now is a time for you to reflect?

someone must have reported you for a review to have been done.

if the ban is unjustified you can always appeal.

ItsmeMargo · 02/10/2026 10:23

Well, you definitely won’t get your account back if you’re not even going to try and appeal!

If you’re so certain you haven’t done anything wrong, then you have nothing to lose by appealing.

Start the appeal and see how you get on.

Weird, there are plenty of other dating apps. Facebook dating, tinder, bumble, POF probably more but those are off the top of my head

They aren’t as good tho. Hinge is by far the superior one

"my dating life is over"

How do you think people dated before the internet?

Mrcollinswave · 02/10/2026 10:28

Could it be someone else hijacked your account and posted hateful things under your name? Not sure if that's possible on Hinge.
or could it be a scam?
my son was thrown off X or whatever it's called now. He was mystified but then found out he hadn't been banned and it was part of a scam (can't remember the details!)
Also sometimes I think they do make genuine errors

OriginalSkang · 02/10/2026 10:30

I was permanently banned from Hinge a few years ago. The guy I was seeing ended things and I looked on Hinge (where we were still matched) and he was online. I stupidly sent him a message on there saying "That didn't take long" - literally just that, nothing else. He reported it and that was that. I appealed it and it was dismissed

I shouldn't have done it

Edit to say I preferred Bumble anyway!

muddyford · 02/10/2026 10:30

Meet someone IRL? Like we did in the olden days?

As an old-un I often think this. In my day if you wanted to meet someone you went to a disco!

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 02/10/2026 10:32

You can appeal or use another email address to set up a new account

Tell us a disco full of eligible single middle aged men

Yeah that’s fair you deserve to be banned for that

MingingRunnersFeet · 02/10/2026 10:34

My DD was recently banned from Hinge, someone reported her for being under age! TBF she’s mid 20’s and could easily pass for 16! She appealed and her account was reinstated within hours. It’s worth at least trying.

vodkaredbullgirl · 02/10/2026 10:36

Lol! It stung because he really treated me like shit

We are still friends, nearly six years later. I just spoke to him a minute ago 😁

firsttimepregnanthelp · 02/10/2026 10:40

This happened to me on Tinder - a guy maliciously reported me when I declined to meet him after he tried to turn the conversation sexual. I appealed it and got my account back

Has she met a lot of people from it?
