To feel like my dating life is over now my hinge account has been banned

I got a message from hinge saying my account has been permanently banned for bullying and harassment but I know for a fact I haven’t done any of that. I have had the account for 3 years and never had a report. Now they have decided to permanently ban me with no chance of getting the account back. This has been really depressing for me because it was the way I used to get dates and meet people. What am I supposed to do now?

It's huge

I disagree. 50% isn’t even a majority, unless you’re breaking the categories down further into ‘met on a night out, met at a hobby, met at work’ etc. But I’m not fucking around with whatever is left of the weekend arguing about maths, so have a lovely afternoon.

My DS is 18, met his GF via friends and a shared hobby. Most of his peers who are 18/19 are the same - they meet people through things they do (sport, the gym, work, PT jobs, uni/college) so they know they have things in common and can tell, because they meet IRL whether they are attracted to them, like them as people, and - because they meet in a social setting amidst friends - it is safer than meeting a random on-line.

Many younger people are NOT meeting on line. I’d go and join a gym or something and meet people IRL.

PS I seem to recall reading about the fact that the whole point of dating apps is NOT to find you your perfect partner at all. If they did that, they’d run out of clients. They need you to FAIL to meet your perfect partner - over and over - so that you keep your subscription live (and money coming in).

Easy to meet other singles when you're all 18. Gets harder after 30, even after 25 probably as most of the people you meet 'naturally' will be taken.

Perhaps, but my older friends have DC aged 27-36. Not one of them used apps. They met through work, travel, friends, sports/running clubs in their 20s and 30s.

I honestly only know one couple - two (now married to each other) lesbian friends in their early fifties, who had decided to end their app subscription the week they met because of the weirdos they’d encountered - that have met via an app.

Perhaps I’m odd in that experience, but I obviously mirror the experience of my friends who are as perplexed by this trend as I am.
