To feel like my dating life is over now my hinge account has been banned

I got a message from hinge saying my account has been permanently banned for bullying and harassment but I know for a fact I haven’t done any of that. I have had the account for 3 years and never had a report. Now they have decided to permanently ban me with no chance of getting the account back. This has been really depressing for me because it was the way I used to get dates and meet people. What am I supposed to do now?

The appeals don’t usually work apparently and they don’t give you a reason why

Surely its worth a try ,if you haven't done anything to warrant this it will be evident.

Shrigley · 02/10/2026 12:42

They tend to ban anyone who gets reported without investigating and then let you back on appeal. Just appeal it.

Hinge is more for relationships whereas tinder is for a quick shag or holiday romance

TBF OP has a point. People are so terrified now of being misconstrued/ kissing someone when they’ve had a drink and then being told they didn’t consent etc very few people say they met their partner ‘out’ now. And people don’t ask people out at work in case of sexual harassment claims.

@Hakuba Why wouldn't you just appeal? You have nothing to lose.

As an old-un I often think this. In my day if you wanted to meet someone you went to a disco!

Neither of my adult kids like the idea of OLD, haven’t used them and have met their gf’s (previous and present) through real life. I know dating apps must be handy for a lot of people, but am really quite glad my kids don’t want to use them, and prefer old fashioned meeting in real life dating (they’re in their 20s), just like I did.

One instance does not meet the legal definition of harassment in the UK.

Well looks like hinge agreed it’s harassment

It’s a wonder anyone manages a date. Dating was so much easier in my day (80s/90s).

Actually funny, as you had to be on Hinge to see him. Did that no occur to you ???

I went on there to see if he was online! I think thats quite obvious isn't it?

Perhaps he told them I also killed and ate his dog in front of him when we went on a date?

mirrornearer · 02/10/2026 13:11

Mine got banned the other day but I suspected it was an AI thing. I appealed it, was asked to submit my ID and it was then reinstated.

This is slightly different though as it appears yours has been reviewed by a mod. Have you been having chats that someone has misunderstood? Seems weird they’d ban you for absolutely no reason at all.

QuizzlyBears · 02/10/2026 13:19

This thread seems like an advert for Hinge more than anything else.

Firefly100 · 02/10/2026 13:20

OP your responses don't sound genuine. I think you do know the reason you may have been banned, you just don't agree.
Asked if you can think of any reason you respond 'no I have not been threatening or anything' - you were asked if you could think of a reason, not if you had been threatening
In response to the poster who explained her own banning story, who said herself she shouldn't have said it, you responded - 'That doesn't sound like much to get banned'
You apparently can think of absolutely nothing that could have caused this but at the same time don't think it is worth appealing.
Either appeal, or accept that what to you seemed reasonable was likely against the site T&Cs and be more careful next time.

RowsOfFlowers · 02/10/2026 13:22

Appeal it, or contact Hinge. It sounds like it was an error and I’m not sure why they’d ignore that?

Otherwise, is there another way you can set up an account with them, using a different mobile number or email address?

Use other dating websites.

MotherofPufflings · 02/10/2026 13:28

Surely you've got nothing to lose by appealing? They can't ban you any more than you are currently banned.

HangryBrickShark · 02/10/2026 13:30

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 02/10/2026 10:32

You can appeal or use another email address to set up a new account

Depending on what you own ,ie mobile, laptop, work laptop, pad, etc you can have a new account. People do this all the time.

So, you've really never heard of a VPN?

honeybeetheoneandonly · 02/10/2026 13:38

You say you haven't been threatening but it sounds like you did say something to someone? What did you say?

well of course you do @Hakuba - appeal the decision. You're being overly dramatic..

Give it a go and see what happens.

It's either an error - or you HAVE done something that violates their guidelines, in which case maybe its no bad thing that you're banned...

AbsolutelyAppeal · 02/10/2026 13:42

What have you done then? Have you bullied or harassed someone? Who could’ve reported you?
appeal if it’s wrong.

IndigoBrave · 02/10/2026 13:55

all you need is a new number to set up another account. use a friends number or just get a new SIM card and put into an old phone to get the verification code

Jellybunny98 · 02/10/2026 13:56

If you truly think you’ve done nothing wrong then they have no evidence so appeal it- it’s simply not true that no appeals are successful.

Alternatively as others have said, use other dating apps. Hinge can’t be that successful if you’re still single anyway so worth a try elsewhere or just in person!

Clearly your only option is to take holy orders and become a bride of Christ. There is literally no other possibility open to you
