In her interview with Times Radio this morning, Kemi Badenoch hinted that, if Labour has legislated to make the pensions triple lock less generous by the time of the next election, a future Tory government would not reverse that.

So much for her insistence on Sunday that protecting the triple lock would be part of the next Conservative manifesto.

In her interview with Times Radio this morning, Kemi Badenoch hinted that, if Labour has legislated to make the pensions triple lock less generous by the time of the next election, a future Tory government would not reverse that.

It's quite illuminating how much legislation from previous administration gets left in place when governments change, despite the supposed "opposition" at the time. Indeed, Our Mate Phil pointed out that this would be a bear trap for the Tories as they would be forced to avoid making it a manifesto pledge, despite their whinging here.

So much for her insistence on Sunday that protecting the triple lock would be part of the next Conservative manifesto.

Kemi insists that her previous insistence meant that when* she brings the Tories back into power it'll be tricky to reverse.

*tricky

Struggling with the basic question 'how will it work?"

Restore Britain candidates. The full statement.

That kind of "Christian" is surely enough to make anyone turn to atheism!

At least he realises that he doesn't stand a chance.

Yes, it really is very cringeworthy and also really made me laugh watching it.

Even Kemi looked like she was trying not to laugh at one point. Not sure if that was because of nervous embarrassment or whether she perceived the absurdity of having to talk about something that she clearly didn't understand.

It's up there with Ian Hislop quizzing Priti Patel about the death penalty on QT.

Classic!!

BIossomtoes · 06/10/2026 16:27

“We will get the information to you”, the same line as she trotted out on Laura K about a completely different topic. Never have I seen a politician so woefully unprepared for media interviews in my life.

A Reform UK MP bought an £800,000 second home on a picturesque Welsh island two days after raising concerns in parliament about the impact of second homes on rural communities.

Sarah Pochin completed the purchase of a Grade-II listed property on the southern coast of Anglesey (Ynys Môn).

Can we deport her, please. 🤮

I am sure she will fully integrate and learn the language

But yet knows what it will cost (at the moment)

£10bn is not much. Where is she expecting these drones and missiles to come from?

Asked when she would raise defence spending to 3.5% of GDP, Badenoch says she has a plan to get to 3%. But she is not in government.

Q: But you say there might be an election soon?

Badenoch says the 3.5% is a Nato target.

She says she is not in government, and she implies it is unreasonable for McCann to expect her to set out a path to 3.5% when she is not in government.

🙄

Well she can't raise defence spending when she's not in power, can she?

Explaining how she'll undo Labour fuckwittery and economic damage is a moving target, since it's still happening.

Once she's in power, she can give a timeline.

She's an utter joke. Or at least she'd be funny if she wasn't so unpleasant.
