Just back from my flu jab. Incredibly efficient. In and out in less than five minutes.

It's a lovely warm day today, so getting the flu jab seems incongruous.

Have ours booked for Tuesday. Ain't being old great.

Was ruminating that one thing that isn't discussed about climate change is how it may affect sunshine ? Because brilliant blue skies and bright sunshine - even if sub zero - are (for myself) more of a fillip than it being warm and grey.

Indeed 😊. Apricity is one of my favourite words. With thanks to Susie Dent.

Ooo. To for me @SerendipityJane I hate the cold. I’m not happy if the minimum daytime max temp drops into single figures. Sun is nice when it’s also warm. When it comes with freezing cold it can do one. As can all weathers, but sun in, say, Feb usually means flippin’ freezing.

Is it just me - or does the parody figure of John Healey look suspiciously like a typical anti-semitic image 'banker' trope?

Although it obviously isn't an anti-semitic attack on (the Catholic) Healey himself, I would have thought the Tory party should be more careful with presenting an image of a 'money man' with long nose and pointy ears.

It's so puerile

LittleBowSheep · 03/10/2026 17:08

How can anyone think it is ok in today's society to be depicting any form of violence?

Yes it’s offensive, and very ill advised.

Reminds me of Griphook.

That wouldn't be out of place in 1930s Germany.

Yes, I thought that.

Me too. It’s disgraceful.

It's more than that, it's racist.

Do you remember a while back Jon Stewart accused Warner Brothers of being anti-Semitic in the way they portrayed Griphook and the other Gringotts goblins? He compared them to illustrations in The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. I don't think it was deliberate, but I could definitely see his point.

It will be interesting if this is picked up on.

Minorities don’t pay tax. Didn’t you know?

There's nothing positive about the so called embroidery. All negative.

Wow, that "tapestry" is quite something. What were they thinking?!

I don’t think they were. They’re intent on proving Theresa May was right.

countrygirl99 · 03/10/2026 17:50

So, just as someone who has already been charged with murder of one political figure is also charged with threatening another the Tories decide it's a good idea to use representations of violence against more. How, just how, did this get past the very first level of scrutiny. Where they all drunk or something?

TemperanceWest · 03/10/2026 17:55

If Labour had done something like this, the screams of protest would be heard from space. But I guess all the Badenoch supporters will dismiss it as a bit of fun. It could have been, but they have overshot the mark by miles.

Certainly looks like it!

A word MN (or the subset on this thread) could popularise ?
