These are the photos of my home, ready to put on Rightmove. I am extremely nervous as I've never put up a house for sale before! Please could you give me some constructive feedback?

You may recognise the front door from a previous thread!

Will post the rest in another post...

Oops forgot pic

No longer looks like a kidnap zone, however does look like a porn set 😂

Lose the hallway one.
Take flowers off the hob and pull the blind up fully.
Put the dining table in the middle of the floor of the dining room - move the sofa out if possible, at least for the photos.
Take the coffee table out of the sitting room, and remove the screen over the window.
Generally, it looks lovely and clean, tidy and welcoming.

So, despite advice to the contrary (from me 😂), you’ve made the loft look more like a habitable space than it was before.

This is going to make prospective buyers think it’s a room. It isn’t a room and should not be marketed as such.

I disagree. Our house had the loft kitted out as a bedroom and the sales details had the house as a 3 bedroom. We knew it was only legally a 2 bed, which is what we wanted, but we also wanted a useable loft room for hobbies, which seeing it laid out as a bedroom showed the potential. It was actually a great selling point and what persuaded us to put in our offer rather than just stating that there was a boarded out loft accessible by a staircase.

Just a yard which i have lots of plants in!

I would include a photo of it, especially if it's filled with plants. Outside space of any description is a bonus.

That might be the case. But it’s illegal to use a loft for habitable use if it’s not been converted.

The issue isn’t simply whether you call it a bedroom or a hobby room. If the loft has not been converted to the required standards for habitable accommodation, it isn’t lawful to use it as a living or hobby space either. It can invalidate house insurance and also leave the owner at risk of enforcement action.

A responsible estate agent should be particularly careful about that distinction when marketing a property. The fact that an agent previously described your house as a three-bed despite knowing it was legally a two-bed doesn’t establish that this is good practice - quite the opposite.

I put it on the floor as a make do yoga mat lol.

I can tell you don't do yoga because (1) the brown blanket would make a terrible surface for yoga and (2) the ceiling is far too low! I'd just move the mattress and table out of the shot to show the amount of space up there and leave it at that. As others have said it should be marketed as storage space, not living space anyway.

Sellingmyhousesoon · 01/10/2026 19:24

Do you guys really think it looks better without the screen? I can't bear staring out at cars and people walking past! I have removed the voile so more light can get in above the screen....

So much better without the screen.

With the screen I only have my imagination - and that is a lot worse than the top of a car!

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 01/10/2026 21:15

And now we are being picky- can you remove the sofa drape, or at least tuck it tight.

PleaseDontTreadOnTheDaisies · 01/10/2026 22:23

You can have the screen up, but just take it down for photos/viewings.
I think blocking a view from a window is generally a bad idea, it may draw attention to the fact that you need a screen up for privacy if that makes sense?

ifonlytheydlisten · 02/10/2026 22:29

Screen makes room look like a prison

Sellingmyhousesoon · 04/10/2026 15:05

Screen and coffee table gone...better? I thought the coffee table made it look more cosy...

That looks so much better and more spacious and airy!

ithinkilikethislittlelife · 04/10/2026 15:31

You’ve a lovely neat house. I would get rid of the kitchen rug too.

Sellingmyhousesoon · 04/10/2026 15:59

Thank you both! It looks weird to me.

Definitely looks better without the screen and coffee table.

SENsupportplease · 04/10/2026 16:57

Way better without the screen and the photo can be edited to remove the car

SENsupportplease · 04/10/2026 16:57

And without the table is better too, and that angle in the last photo also better

TrickyD · 04/10/2026 16:58

The walls of the hall, stairs and landing are depressingly dull. Get some pictures to cheer them up and add interest.
Get a smaller coffee table, too squashed up with the sofa.

TrickyD · 04/10/2026 17:00

Just seen you have already got rid of the coffee table and screen. Much better!

Why is there a vase of flowers on the hob? House looks clean, tidy and neutral.

Mrs Hinch used to do it … think it became a thing then.

The hallway one adds nothing. Drop it

I disagree it looks lovely and would like that photo.

Move the screen blocking the light in the living room and angle the sofa back slightly to let the light in.

Beautiful house!

wishfulthinking25 · 04/10/2026 18:07

Beautiful, I love your house. Can you tell me what paint colours you used? The only downside for me is the wallpaper
