These are the photos of my home, ready to put on Rightmove. I am extremely nervous as I've never put up a house for sale before! Please could you give me some constructive feedback?

You may recognise the front door from a previous thread!

Will post the rest in another post...

the living room looks squished can you move / remove some furniture.
The paper in the hall makes it look small can you strip it?
Flowers on the hob???

issyforqueen · 29/09/2026 14:52

I think people are saying the same things now.

Uricon2 · 29/09/2026 14:54

The very neutral (and not grey!!) decoration would appeal to me, people add their own stuff to give character and the fresh, clean look is reassuring if you need move in condition. Good luck @Sellingmyhousesoon , it's a nice house!

notanothernamesurely · 29/09/2026 14:59

The flowers off the hob. I’d also move the screen and coffee table from lounge - it looks too busy in there (ideally a smaller sofa would be the better idea but that’s a lot more effort/money)

I have pulled out my extra bits and bobs and shoved them in the loft. Will add some fairy lights too. Thoughts? 😅😅 does it at least look less like a kidnap zone?

It looks fine! No to the fairy lights, though. My pet hate, so twee.

Looks great! I can imagine the buyer flopping down on that and asking the agent to put the contract in the post! You are painting the fantasy of a life of leisure!

I'd skip the fairy lights. To me it's a bit student flat/kid's bedroom.

Calliopespa · 29/09/2026 15:10

Actually I'd remove the brown throw over the very nice silver carpet as well. I think you have enough layers to look snug without it and it made me wonder if there is a stain on the carpet!

darkdaysareover · 29/09/2026 15:10

It’s beautiful but I would add white elements to freshen it up as it’s a bit beige/brown heavy imo. Crisp white cushions or flowers to break up the big areas of brown like the flooring.

DangerousLesions · 29/09/2026 15:14

I love it! It's right up my street. Well, no it isn't but it's the kind of thing I'd go for. Is there a garden?

Sellingmyhousesoon · 29/09/2026 15:20

Oh phew thank you all! I have also removed the screen in the front room. I have a shorter voice i think I will swap the current one with. I know people don't like voices but I gotta live here and need some privacy!

So, despite advice to the contrary (from me 😂), you’ve made the loft look more like a habitable space than it was before.

This is going to make prospective buyers think it’s a room. It isn’t a room and should not be marketed as such.

Wowthatwasabigstep · 29/09/2026 16:48

Woohoo, much improved and looks much more welcoming now.

I put it on the floor as a make do yoga mat lol.

I was wondering about this but I also don't want it to look like a kidnap space! I'll make sure on the house description it is listed as storage space, not a room.

I’d make the into a work space. Office in the roof

Too much furniture in narrow room.

The coffee table really crowds the room. I'd remove it for photos.

IndigoBluey · 01/10/2026 01:48

Take flowers off the stove and remove the rattan thing against living room window. Nice house

FluentRuby · 01/10/2026 02:42

Your house is lovely, it honestly looks like the sort of place I would live in. It looks like a home, not just a house for sale.

AlwaysRightISwear · 01/10/2026 07:25

The new photos are so much brighter!

I agree - it has a really cosy looking cottage feel. I like the creams & beiges rather than the grey that is still everywhere (and doesn't suit old houses at all).
And I love how you've changed the loft space - looks much better.
My only critique now is that the coffee table looks a bit too big for the space, I'd look into getting a smaller one, just because it'll make the room look bigger.

I cant see any photos?
