These are the photos of my home, ready to put on Rightmove. I am extremely nervous as I've never put up a house for sale before! Please could you give me some constructive feedback?

You may recognise the front door from a previous thread!

Will post the rest in another post...

Makes me laugh too. Oddly ive never seen Mrs Hinch, I was just sure i'd seen it somewhere and thought it would look posh!

Nor have I! I think because it looks impractical, it's a bit pretentious, probably?
The house is really nice, you've done a great job.
What's the location?

The hall picture is very useful, you get an idea of the entrance to the house.

I agree. It shows the front door doesn't go straight into the living room.

Exactly!

OP your house looks well-presented, clean and tidy, huge selling points alone. Although you've got very neutral decor, just buy a few funky bright cushion covers to add a pop of colour to each room, including maybe a vibrant patterned throw on that brown leather sofa, with contrasting cushions. Online Home Shop sells loads of both, super cheap, including various shades of pink! Dressing the loft as a yoga area is a fantastic idea! As is removing the coffee table and window cover from the snug. In the other room, I'm wondering whether you could have your dining table and 3 chairs against the wall where the brown leather sofa currently is? That would make the space flow well from kitchen to eating area. Vase of fresh flowers on the dining table. And have the sofa positioned so that it faces the garden, somehow (with a big enough gap behind to exit the room) Coffee table to its side (with lamp on) or in the fireplace alcove?

Good suggestions but it can be hard to see past flowers in a photo. I find them off-putting.

ItsAlwaysTwins · 29/09/2026 10:04

You can’t style the loft space as anything other than storage as unless it’s a compliant conversion, you can’t legally use it as any sort of occupiable space.

Dbank · 29/09/2026 10:08

They look okay in terms of content, but technically they are quite poor, and should be better if taken by a professional photographer, usually your EA can suggest one.

Your house is neutral, neat and tidy 😊 but I would:

  • put your kitchen rug more centrally (and agree with losing the vase);
  • put your dining table more centrally;
  • put a slim console table in your hall for keys and things, and put a pink vase on it to continue the flow from the front door;
  • remove the lounge screen and nets;
  • give the loft more of a purpose with a desk or a yoga mat and weights, so it looks more used/aspirational.

I have ai'd these too...any thoughts?

These look much better! I thought your originals looked too dark, although you could tell they'd been taken on a sunny day which made me wonder how much light gets into the house.

ItsAlwaysTwins · 29/09/2026 10:37

I wish people would stop with this. It is very bad advice. It isn’t a case of making it look more ‘aspirational’; you don’t want to imply a use for which the space isn’t suitable or legal.

I’d make the most of it as a good, useful storage loft - clean, tidy, well lit and accessible, but clearly storage. That demonstrates its potential without misleading anyone about its status.

If the loft has not been converted and does not comply with the requirements for habitable accommodation (and that definition includes any sort of hobby space), it should be presented as storage space - not dressed up to suggest that it is an extra room.

allthemind · 29/09/2026 10:39

Its very nice, but also very beige. Id be tempted to put some cheap colourful cushions or something in for the photos.

TaraRhu · 29/09/2026 10:40

The house has good bones! Great features and don't need to do any structural stuff. I think you could make it more homely though. Could you add a few pops of colour/flowers/ cushions as it's a bit beige? But I think it's a pretty good house and I can't imagine these photos would put anyone off. It's a blank canvas

The vase of flowers comments made me laugh,you can tell who follows Mrs Hinch and who doesn't 😂

Edited

I have never seen a single episode of Mrs Hinch and I have quite a chaotic household but I never put flowers on a hob. Would definitely not do it for pics to sell a house. But in reality, no one is going to say, oh this house ticks all the boxes but I wont but it because the seller put flowers on the hob. No.

It looks neat, tidy and neutral so tick tick tick on that!

If I am being really picky, I would remove the vase of flowers from the hob area and put them on the desk in the second bedroom.

You could add just a few items back in too, to give it a 'homely' feel.

It's a difficult choice! It depends largely on if the viewers are a couple or a family.

Good luck!

My mum said move the flowers too! I thought it looked stylish, oh dear.

Pictures are just in random order! I won't start with the hallway!

I thought the hall photograph an excellent way to start. Draws the viewer in.

Oh yes, I just googled the Mrs Hinch flowers on hob out of interest.

Hers look waaaaaayyy tackier than yours OP!

At least yours gave the feeling you had just shoved them out of the way while you wiped the surfaces! Hers was clear posturing.

It feels all wrong to present flowers from that location - like when Yoko Ono and John Lennon gave an interview from the double bed!

Strictly speaking, no.

But it somehow adds a vibe of complete artifice, which in turn feels a bit deceptive, which ultimately is a bit off-putting. A kind of "are they hiding bora in the attic" feel.

But anyway, easily resolved. Stick them in the single bedroom or on the table OP.

AllIwantForChrismasIsAKitchenAidStandMixer · 29/09/2026 13:17

Lovely photos but I think your dining table is in an odd place. It doesn’t look like it is your only reception space so I would put it in the middle and make it look like a proper dining room if I were you

"are they hiding bora in the attic" feel. 😂😂😂it might have been BDSM central kkkk

It's a good house, nicely presented OP. We are all just nit-picking.

It should sell. Good luck!

Flowers on the hob just looks a bit strange, it's so impractical it looks like over presentation. I've no idea why people would think a cooker hob would be a place for flowers?.

I’ve done it a couple of times when I’ve had people over but it’s really impractical because obviously you have to move it the next day to cook and the hob gets dirty almost daily. I think I saw it on Instagram and thought it looked nice - a bit like “this house is so clean and tidy, we haven’t even cooked anything since it was cleaned”. I think flowers look nice anywhere but it is a bit weird and unrealistic for a real kitchen

JoyousWriter · 29/09/2026 14:20

I know it's supposed to be neutral to sell it but...

Bloody hell, its neutral!!

NicPapr25 · 29/09/2026 14:30

All the rugs look like hiding something on carpet, would remove one in kitchen, landing, both bedrooms and maybe one in living room. In my opinion they make look very dated. Hope all works out for you with sale.

Living room needs to be the room where the table is - the current table room looks bigger ? dining room (moved to the living room) needs to have table in the centre.

no shower - not even over the bath
attic room can barely stand up in is this much use of a room ?
