Who should go to work tomorrow?

Today was my first day at a new job - one I am very lucky to have. I probably wouldn’t find another one as good again. Not going in tomorrow will look very, very bad and potentially jeopardise my job.
DP is a GP and has a 30 patient clinic tomorrow.

DD3 is ill. Some sort of virus, fever, headache, sore throat, no appetite. There’s no way she’ll be well enough for nursery tomorrow.

DP thinks I should stay home with her and I think he should. Up until this point I’ve been a SAHM so things like this weren’t an issue. He has never ever had to cancel work before.

Who gets to go to work tomorrow?

Thanks for the insight into emergency nannies @C8H10N4O2

Our company also has an emergency nanny benefit but you can’t leave sick kids with them.

Edited as I've just put my glasses on and saw this scenario was posted on a satire page! Whoops.

I understand why your DP doesn't want to cancel his clinic, but on this occasion I think he should.

Going forward you're going to need to have a discussion about how child sick leave is shared: if he's used to you being a SAHM he's going to have to realise that now you're not he's also going to have to cover his share

This. Tomorrow you go to work. But unless you are also in a similar role id say u should end up taking more of the days off maybe 60-70%. In jobs where both are clinical people normally base on how much disruption that particular day is to people. If one is split half research/teaching and clinical it’s always the research that gets sacrificed etc
at least at 3 sick days are going to be much less than age 1-2

Why should OP’s employer lose her services more than half the time?
