Gen X menopausal me saying my hair made me ‘look like Worzel Gummidge’ and being met with blank looks ! Yours ?

I mimed to my 31 year old daughter, who often i bore about the past to is fairly clued up on these things, typing on an imaginary typewriter and pushing the carriage back to start a new line. That was totally baffling to her. But then I thought “yes of course it would be!”

That's yet another moment for me. I've worked it out and dd could have told me that a few years ago.

I hadn't heard of a leg and a duck either.

We used to say:
A leg and a wing,
To see the king.

Not mine but my parents.

They were young in the 1950s. Imagine their distress when they discovered the 1950s town was a recent addition at Beamish 😂😂

I empathise with that because there was a room from the year I was born in York Museum when I was in my 30s. Beamish didn’t surprise me at all after that.

On my last visit to Beamish, I found the Romer Parrish toy shop - I was a regular customer in the early 60s. They have all my old toys in there! (Plus a meccano set that I had always wanted, but as I was a girl, I got a stupid Sindy doll instead.)

My brother is 13 years younger than me. His girlfriend is pregnant and having a baby shower. I asked her what everyone was wearing as it was at a nice bar, during the day and was unsure of the vibe. She replied well my mums wearing jeans and a nice top. I’m 40.

The GF sees @user1456923830 as 'mum of young adult' age, whereas user probably thinks of herself as young and just 'big sister'.

It’s wonderful. A really excellent day out. Top tip is to go in bad weather, it’s still amazing but there are no crowds so you can get a really good look.

27 years for me - and 9/11 was 25 years ago. Oh dear.

I was thinking about millennium Eve the other day, a house party in Leeds in fancy dress. It seemed so recent then I realised this was before 9/11, before I had kids (who are now in their 20’s) and before social media. Sigh 😞…….

Going shopping to replace the jeans that have holes in them. And complaining that I can't find anything because all those jeans in the shops now have more holes than the ones I need to replace!

Ski pants are coming back - SKI PANTS !!!

Oh, they are NOT!!! Omg, I remember in about 1986, those were all the rage, and short suede boots whose top part was crumpled. We used to call them pixie boots.

I had a lovely pair of mid-blue ski pants from Dash!!!! Remember Dash?? And a skinny leather tie from Marks in the same blue! And also a black skinny leather tie with a piano keyboard printed on it in white! Good old M and S!

I saw stirrup leggings in next today, are they the same?

My DD went with the school a few years ago. They had a lesson in a Victorian classroom and when she got home she asked if it was like that when I was at school!😄
