What obvious adult discoveries made you feel a bit of a plonker?

What’s something you learnt as an adult that made you think that’s completely obvious and yet I have never considered that….i feel like a bit of a plonker?

Mine was when taking tablets, the more you drink with it the better it will dissolve. I think alot of tablets are testing with the assumption people will drink 250ml alongside it.

That the shop ‘Zara’is actually pronounced ‘Thara’…

I was mindblown when I saw my first pineapple growing on the ground a few years ago. For some bizarre reason I always thought they grew on trees like coconuts!!!!

That's not true.

It’s not quite that simple and certainly not quite analogous to the Earth moving relative to the Sun giving the sense the Sun sets as per the pp I quoted.
The entire ocean isn’t static relative to the Sun and dragged across the Earth surface to constantly face the Sun. If it was lakes would empty as the water was pulled out as the Earth rotates for example.
Theres definite movement in the oceans water though which results in the rise and fall of the tides.

This isn't a thing. Many women routinely exfoliate their skin. Also male skin is thicker than female skin which is one of the reaons it ages differently.

Thank goodness we are more open about female bodies now. Many girls didn't even know they had a vagina until their teens as late as the 80s. The whole area was usually called one thing and generally that was a nickname that was said quietly.

Mum used to refer to people as human beans! I continued to think this until I saw it written down.
