Previous thread is almost full. I'm back on it, have cleared the corner of doom in my bedroom today. Next stop is sorting the eBay/chazza bag in the conservatory...

Ooh good idea.

Glad you are back I was addicted to your thread, best ever. 👏👏

omghereistrouble · 20/09/2026 17:59

its a good idea when you start to do one job it can lead to others; this afternoon i managed to put the washing away, then ended up scooping up the dirty washing put in the machine to wash. hence two birds with one stone. oh yes and putting the washing in i grab some wet wipes gave the surfaces a quick swipe

Gardenflowering · 20/09/2026 17:59

Hooray!

I have an announcement!

Yesterday, head to toe in a haz suit (due to potential spider activity) I tackled the loft.

Yep, yes I did.

dragged everything out, chazza pile, tip pile, back in… in a zip up bag pile.
Hoovered that fucker and then neatly put stuff back.
Over half the space now free.
Tip run this morning, boot full!

Smugness is even getting on my own nerves but MAN! Feels like a weight lifted!

Hatty65 · 20/09/2026 18:17

Love this idea. I've got loads of small shitty jobs that need doing.

I've cleared out 2 drawers in my bedroom and dumped everything that doesn't fit (most of it) into a charity bag.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/09/2026 18:19

Oooh New Thread . Thank you @Shittyyear2025

I've got some Stuff From Under DDs Bed to go out .
A bag to go to the charity shop.

Summer clothes now up in the attic .
We have a week of dry , warmish weather so I can shove DH up into the attic for the winter clothes which will need washed and hung out .

Gardenflowering · 20/09/2026 18:22

Dishwasher cleaned and little air fresher put in today.
Meaning to do that for a while!

CurbsideProphet · 20/09/2026 18:30

Good to see you back @Shittyyear2025 I've found the original thread really motivational.

I've lined up the grandparents to take the toy kitchen that's cluttering up our living room and not being played with.

My wardrobe purge is ongoing and I've earmarked more clothes to get rid of.

Onemoret1me · 20/09/2026 18:34

I’ve got so many crappy jobs that need doing but just can’t find time to keep on top of it. As soon as I’ve done one, another three pop up!

it’s a mamouth task just to keep on top of the everyday jobs.

I did manage to go to the laundrette today and was a massive blanket that doesn’t fit in my machine

other jobs to do are;

  • tackle the pile of stuff that’s amounted on the bedroom floor
  • take bags to charity shop
  • list stuff on vinted
  • declutter clothes
  • deep clean dishwasher
DeathMetalMum · 20/09/2026 19:02

Rejoining the thread. I started at the beginning of the last thread but didn't keep up. I need some motivation to get the house sorted before Christmas. Currently wouldn't have anywhere to put a Christmas tree!

I have done a lot of sorting of clothes over the past few weeks. I have started a new job, so needed to buy some new clothes and got rid of a lot of old ones, though not enough. Dd2 also sorted all of her things out. Two bags for recycling and two bags for the charity shop were dropped of yesterday.

On opening this thread pushed me to listing some bits of Playmobil on vinted I have been meaning to do for too long. I'm putting a time limit on it though, if it's not sold by October half term it off to the charity shop.

TicTac80 · 20/09/2026 19:44

I loved the last thread!

I've managed to get some big things sorted this summer: got my bike license. And I’m getting my T2 sorted. This means that I can hand back the salary sacrifice car I have at the end of its contract in December and not worry about having another one (I’ll just use motorbike and T2). Also means I’m not tied to current job/Trust, and can max out pension contributions.

Next on my list:
-sell my old motorbike.
-declutter attic (and house and shed etc!)
-tidy up the above once declutterred.

I’ve got two months til car goes back, so I’ll use that to do tip runs, charity shop runs etc. I’m working shifts so will make a start on my days off this week.

ReadingSoManyThreads · 20/09/2026 19:44

Glad this popped up as I'll be honest, I had forgotten about this thread.

I've not been as committed as most of you, but earlier today, I did move the dog bed and got rid of the mountain of black dog hair from behind it. Then I did some measuring up that I'd put off for years, so hopefully can take a step towards getting something installed.

I'm working a lot this week, so won't do anything other than day-to-day things like dishwasher loading and laundry.

Will try to get meaningful decluttering done next weekend. Shite in every room to sort through - it's so overwhelming.

Shittyyear2025 · 20/09/2026 20:16

Right. Today was doom corner #1 in bedroom, pantry cupboard and checking the box of eBay stuff in the conservatory.

I've just downloaded an autobiography documentary to the telly box so I'm going to watch that with a pile of ironing from same conservatory rather than procrastinate on my phone for an hour

I found my people!!

This weekend I have
Finally gotten the grass cut in the back garden AND tidied it.
Cleared out every single cupboard in the kitchen and thrown out extra cutlery and crockery we do not use, all plastic tubs with no lids, anything out of date from the ridiculously over stocked spice 'rack'.
Fixed a small leak that took minutes and I have been avoiding for months.

I have three bedrooms, two bathrooms and an attic to go as last weekend did other rooms downstairs but it really is better than therapy. Back to work tomorrow but think I will list out everything that needs to be done and tick things off between now and december.

Hello @Shittyyear2025 and @70isaLimitNotaTarget and all who were on the last thread and newcomers too!

I was NoExchangeBeforeChristmasThen...have NC as I chose that name when it looked like a property I was trying to shift last year was still going to be mine into 2026...in the event it sold in late Dec...I kept meaning to NC as it seemed odd having a username with Christmas in it between Jan and July! I suppose now we're heading towards another one but the least said on that matter the better, it is Sept after all

I was away much of the summer so am now back and determined to keep going. Happy to report that despite the new username my treadmill remains uncluttered and in almost daily use! I've kept pushing on with my plan to do one 20 min SJ a day and that's really working, I've now got a list of 20 min tasks in my organiser to plough through. I lost the battle with a 20 min digital declutter per day and just bought a phone with more memory and upgraded my iCloud space 😆but I'm still going to try and clear the backlog bit by bit...

Good luck all - lets keep on keeping on

I've just moved the FB (I'm Gen X) and Insta apps off my Home Screen to try and discourage me from getting distracted and inadvertently doom scrolling when I should be getting on with SJs...

Flowers90 · 20/09/2026 21:05

Id love to join desperately want to get sorted but need the motivation. Today I did clear the box of old paperwork filed what we needed and recycled/shredded the rest

Getofftheunicorn · 20/09/2026 21:07

I’ve been buying some great clothes from my local charity shops (some designers and obviously much cheaper) so my clothes were getting unmanageable, piled on chair in bedroom, on top of wardrobe etc.
SO I tried on every pair of trousers and every skirt & I’ve got two bags of them to take to charity shop.
I feel much freer now as I can find things to wear that suit me and actually fit!

TreadmillFilingCabinet · 20/09/2026 21:07

Lots of people doing the seasonal clothes shift - I did that a week or two ago in the hope that it would precipitate an Indian summer. Every time I put summer stuff away and get winter stuff out this seems to happen - Sod's Law - so here's hoping for some decent late Sept weather!

BinNightTonight · 20/09/2026 21:10

I'm going to join too!

DeathMetalMum · 20/09/2026 22:10

My SJ tomorrow is to cut the grass. I did the back last week and it's grown what feels like a foot already. I need to do the front, (and the back again) which seems to be a toilet for several cats and I hate doing it. An actual shitty job. I also need to re seed some patches in the back garden now we have had some rain if I have time. **

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 20/09/2026 22:16

Great idea! Ive started but
lost motivation quickly. So hopefully reading your successes will help.

You be as smug as you like! Well deserved!

I must go in my loft but im not as brave as you.

TicTac80 · 20/09/2026 23:50

I need to get the grass cut too. Hmmm, think I’ll get DS to do that tomorrow while I’m at work….

ProudCoralBear · 21/09/2026 01:03

Love this thread, I can’t find the original is anyone able to link it please? Need all the motivation I can get
