Previous thread is almost full. I'm back on it, have cleared the corner of doom in my bedroom today. Next stop is sorting the eBay/chazza bag in the conservatory...

Good thread. About to order protein drinks for DM, and will book hand rail installation for her bathroom. Got the OT report already, just need to actually book the job. If I can get those done today I will feel great.

MyGallbladderIsAFucker · 21/09/2026 05:26

Yesterday we sorted one of the garages and I did a couple of tip runs as my contribution we've been meaning to sort this for years!
I'm saying 20 minutes a day minimum with a caveat I work 13 hour days sometimes so those days it'll be emptying the shit out of my car or tidying the shower of doom whilst I wash my hair or something small or I might add the 20 minutes to another day.

I have also found my tribe . Last week I did my kitchen drawer of doom . Sorted all the paperwork ( photographed and binned school certificates) . There were 100 black biros and 11 30cm rulers alone !

I tested all the batteries in there ( most work) and organised the rest . I suspect we probably still have 10 x more than needed but it’s better .

Bloody hell its weird when you see your inner monologue typed out by other people.
Lets see if joining will help w my sporadic efforts to beat my hoarderiness
This weekend I sorted out my bra drawer. Loads of them are now in a bag for the fabric skip at the dump. (Prev in a bag to going to send to a bra charity. Which I never did, it reproached me from the spare dump room for 2 years)

Anonanonanonagain · 21/09/2026 09:02

I am working from home most of this week so I will be able to tip away at things instead of sitting in the car in traffic for 3 hours.
Today I plan to clean the car. As in take out the handheld vacuum cleaner and the power washer and clean it inside and out. I have wipes to clean the dashboard and windows also. Living beside the sea and having dogs mean the car will never ever be spotless but it can look better for sure.

I remembered one cupboard in the kitchen I had avoided. We call it the first aid cupboard but basically it just houses a pile of shite we possibly do not need so that will be worked through today too.

Great idea. I need to sort a plumbing issue. I have been to the plumbing shop trice but still don’t know what part I need. So I need to unscrew something in the toilet and take a picture then hopefully the man in the shop can tell me what I need. The water is turned off so I won’t flood anything but it is such a pain!
This is my “easy week” at work. I work shifts and this is the least intense week out of 4 so I want to get some awkward jobs done.
Also I want to cook nice healthy food every night for my 17 year old. He is grumpy and fed up and re taking exams so I want to make sure he is fed and has nothing to worry about apart from the exams. He is the kindest person I know and actually if it was the other way round he would be looking after me and cooking for me!

Did nothing during the hot weather.

I've been wrapping presents I ordered early for Christmas they're put away. I've reorganized the office disposed of some stuff. Reorganize the book cases. Bought a specific holder for wrapping paper. Sorted all the gift bags out. Just got to buy a new printer now that's been playing up for over a year.

Now I can start on the tax returns.

I bought a wrapping paper holder and it's been very useful indeed - little things like that make all the difference. I now don't stick the Christmas wrap up in the loft in Jan then get it down to find it slightly soft, and I always know where birthday wrap, gift tags, card etc are as I bought one big enough to hold the lot. I don't do much gift wrapping these days, only for the kids and a couple of older relatives, but it's still good to have it all in one place.

I drafted my tax return in July, haven't hit send yet. Need to get on with that

I don't always get the 20 mins done, but then other days I do an hour so tell myself that's today's 20 and the 20 x 2 that I missed on two days last week!

Todays job is not technically my job as I am getting the boiler replaced but I am sure there will be much to clean up afterwards. He is also fixed an attic issue I have thats been niggling at me. Cannot commit to anything further till I see the mess after the plumber has gone.

WeMeetInFairIthilien · 22/09/2026 10:55

Sat - tidied the stack of doom in the kitchen.
Sun - sorted out the paper mountain in the hall.
Mon - put away glasses and dusted and polished the glasses cabinet.
Today - emptied the can cupboard, organised and planned meals using them.

BringaBintarongAlong · 22/09/2026 17:57

Sorted mugs and glasses, some in chazza shop bag (new favourite phrase) and 8 water bottles and travel mugs in the bag for hard plastics on the next tip run (I love a tip run, it makes me feel like I am winning at life 😆).
Also batch cooked for next 3 day lunches

Hooray!

I have an announcement!

Yesterday, head to toe in a haz suit (due to potential spider activity) I tackled the loft.

Yep, yes I did.

dragged everything out, chazza pile, tip pile, back in… in a zip up bag pile.
Hoovered that fucker and then neatly put stuff back.
Over half the space now free.
Tip run this morning, boot full!

Smugness is even getting on my own nerves but MAN! Feels like a weight lifted!

I am in awe of you. I have been intending to do this for five years. But never intend to do it on any given day.

mothra · 23/09/2026 02:37

I didn't get my two jobs completed on Monday, but I did one of them, and have just done the other. However, I did remove lots of old spiderweb from the ceiling of my DM's kitchen yesterday, which I had been looking at for months.

NewspaperTaxis · 23/09/2026 18:33

I did not get around to attempting my designated job today.

The day isn't over yet Grin

I sent DH up in the attic to get out the winter clothes so these will get sorted out , washed and put in the wardrobes ..
I need to get new lampshades

NewspaperTaxis · 23/09/2026 19:12

Yeah, but it involved cleaning and I tell myself the daytime sun would help drying it out. The gig in question is emptying out the kitchen cupboard and cleaning it with Pledge - it has spillage of powdery stuff in it dating back.

Then, the kitchen floor.

WeMeetInFairIthilien · 23/09/2026 20:27

I cleared the death zone today. AKA the floor of the old lean to, which acts as our wine and vegetable store over winter. But then accumulates woodlice and spiders, along with cardboard boxes, over the summer.

All clean now...just need some wine to put in it!

featheryfancy · 23/09/2026 21:34

This thread is exactly what I need! I’ve been overwhelmed with the amount of shitty jobs I need to do, so have been ignoring them all.
Here’s hoping joining spurs me into action

CurbsideProphet · 24/09/2026 19:58

I need to get my winter jumpers out and sort which summer things are staying and which haven't been worn, but it was warm today. Very confusing!

DeathMetalMum · 24/09/2026 20:59

I ticked off my things to do Monday. I was at work on Tuesday I did sell some of the Playmobil on vinted. Yesterday I boxed it and took it to the post office. So that was my SJ.

My car broke down yesterday and is at the end of it's time. I had been looking at cars hoping it would hang on for a little bit longer. So this weekend my job is to go car shopping on a limited budget.

Hopefully next week car troubles are sorted and I can get back onto to some shitty jobs in the house.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/09/2026 20:45

Cleaned the downstairs loo including the skirting boards and the corners .
It's tiny so not a lot of surfaces but an effort for my old carcass to bend .

Loads of washing done , winter clothes .
Collected some M&S and Sainsbury Tu clothes

Shredding confidential waste and I found a returns label I was looking for .....so I can return the item
Got some Charity Shop stuff to go , planning to do a drop off tomorrow

A bag of summer clothes to go in the attic and find a bag hiding that has my long winter coat and a couple of other things .

That's enough for now I reckon.

Anonanonanonagain · 25/09/2026 20:59

Airing cupboard/hotpress today. Took out every single thing. Folded bedding in their piles of matching other bedding, towels by size and have bagged up older pillows and duvets that need to be discarded of.
