Previous thread is almost full. I'm back on it, have cleared the corner of doom in my bedroom today. Next stop is sorting the eBay/chazza bag in the conservatory...

I sent off the robovac yesterday :D Hopefully the Eufy people can quickly check it over and get it fixed. :D Currently researching the hedge trimmers.

More garage sorting today - three shelf units sorted and tip runs done. Still quite a way to go before its finished.

Also sorted out a bag of bedding I no longer want. I think Dunelm have a box for that.

Cleaned the Cats' Cupboard ( they don't live in a cupboard , honestly) , but they have the understairs cupboard without a door for their tray .
It's a mahoosive under bed storage box that we customised . Much bigger than any tray we could find .
Of course our cats kick their litter about with abandon and Missy sometimes doesn't aim straight <sigh>

So it's an empty , scrub, clean the floor liner , dry it all , replace it .

Vacumed behind the sofa ( cat hair ) there's a theme here Grin

Cleaned the front porch and door mat .

Sorted some medical stuff, emptied the random crate of junk in the pantry, so I can start filling it with Christmas food.
Tested some different M&S mince pies (it's a shirty job, but someone had to do it...)

Things I need to do - sort out the candle cupboard, dusting and decide on our Christmas food order.

Well done everyone! Reporting in to say today I’ve sorted a big binliner of clothes and bags for the charity shop and also decluttered and shredded a few years of old diaries that I have no idea why I was keeping. The big bin liners of shredded paper were very satisfying.

Need to get more brutal with my clothes and really consider if I am going to wear something again or not. Hard though!

I got my robovac back on Friday :) not bad at all that they managed to fix it and get it back to me in a week. I had to order a new roller brush for it but that arrived yesterday and I got it set up last night after I finished work. So it’s back to working nicely again (thank god, as the place was looking a mess).

I’ve done a job list for things to sort this week and will try and get as much blitzed as possible.

We visited a home at the weekend where the owner had a massive lawn and watched a robot mower in action. The lawn was beautifully cut by this machine.

KitschIntoKitchen · 19/10/2026 10:18

After a good start to the month, I have slacked off a bit. Back on it today. I’m not sure where to start because there are piles of stuff everywhere. Perhaps the utility room?

TicTac80 · 20/10/2026 20:35

I keep reading about robot mowers @justasking111, but I've not seen them in action. I'd love one as lawn mowing is one of my most hated jobs, but I don't know how well it would work in my garden (quite hilly and uneven in places, rather than a lovely flat expanse of beautiful lawn).

Sorted a ton of stuff (lots of admin type things and chores, rather than shitty jobs):
-booked salary sacrifice lease car in for service and MOT (I hand it back in December)
-Ordered and received the door cards for my VW T2 (I'm getting work done on it to get it to MOT standard by the time I hand back lease car). I will drop them to the garage tomorrow.
-Booked dentist appt for my DD. Took her to optician as well. Got my optician appt sorted for this Thursday.
-Made enquiries about quote for fitting a diesel heater to my T2 (hopefully next week!). Ditto about getting power steering retro-fitted
-ordered and received a wireless reverse camera (for T2 - can you see a theme happening here?)
-chased up about my new motorbike (I got a message about it needing a service).
-sold my old bike
-whipped (not literally!!) the DC into shape re: getting their rooms decluttered/tidied.
-got all bedlinen sorted. Curtains are next!

Tomorrow, I hope to chase about the quotes and secure a date, take two of my cats to the vet (annual check and boosters), hopefully sell my old vivarium, get the door cards across to garage which is sorting my T2, and I have an interview in the evening for a PT job (I work FT, but this would be ad hoc stuff, bit like a side hustle).

Tiberia · 20/10/2026 20:40

I can apply this to my garden too!

Anyways - bought new underpants at Sainsburys today been meaning to do that for ages as all the old ones I have recycled when they get holes in.

justasking111 · 20/10/2026 21:38

Not a lot today. I did wrap 6 Christmas presents and add them to the list of presents received and wrapped for each individual family member. If I don't do this I get confused.

ThreeMogsAndCounting · 21/10/2026 00:11

Ikea bag full of elderly towels cleared out of the linen cupboard. Does that count?

DeathMetalMum · 21/10/2026 10:13

I have done some bits here and there over the last week or so. I work a long day on a Thursday so have decided no SJ for Thursdays as I just don't get them done. Last weekend dp and I took down a huge amount of ivy that was growing in the front garden, we had to ask next door neighbours if we could go into their garden as it's on both sides. Though we have only tackled around a third of it. I then took time putting what I could into the garden waste bin, it's probably going to take three bins to clear what is there.

I have bought a plastic draught excluder to put onto our back door from Aldi. That will be my job for today. Possibly some shredding. I also sorted out the old car to be collected for scrap. So I have all the old documents from that to shred.

I have booked my own smear test, an appointment with dermatology for Dd1 and opticians for Dd2 both next week in the holidays.

I also actually sorted out some summer clothes to store for the first time, mostly because I have too many clothes and need to cull some more. I usually just put them in a different drawer but I have bagged them and put them in the boiler cupboard.

Those thinking about robot lawnmowers, my brother has one their garden isn't completely flat and it works ok - I think he only uses his on the back lawn. Only downside is he still needs to go round and strim/sort edging, which I know is different to mowing the lawn but those are the bits I hate doing. The actual mowing is normally the easier part IMO.

TicTac80 · 21/10/2026 13:35

Cats have been taken to the vet for annual check up and boosters. Also gave them worming tablets and flea spot stuff (because I might as well do that whilst they're in the carriers and pissed off at me already). Yay!

Door cards dropped off at the garage that is doing the resto on my T2.

Now to prep for a Teams interview that is happening this evening. :D

justasking111 · 21/10/2026 21:24

A friend who happens to be an amazing cleaner helped me today. We emptied all the wardrobes of trousers, dresses day and party. Hoovered and wiped down all the rails, shelving etc.

Then I went through everything. There's now a laundry basket full of trousers. We then put everything back. Only two garments still had tags on 😁.

I found a few pairs of lovely trousers that I don't even recall buying. I'm looking forward to wearing those again.

My friend took home some clothes for herself she liked, the rest will go to the charity warehouse.

I've a bin bag full of trouser hangers too.

justasking111 · 22/10/2026 13:54

Ooh I got mad this morning at the charity depot. I'd carefully put all the clothes into bags. Taken them down to the depot. Went in to ask if someone could help me empty the car because I was still using a stick. The woman at the counter said dump them in the clothes bank outside, we have to wash and iron them before we can sell. I got snotty then and said. They are washed, ironed and very carefully folded I have also supplied the trouser hangers.

She back tracked then, finding someone to help empty the car.

FGS every item of clothing is sold at £2 there. I was donating M&S , Next and a few designer items.

I watched two women taking away many IKEA bags of charity gear they were designer dressed in a new range rover. . Didn't think anything of it. I got talking to old friends inside. Twenty minutes later th the women were back empty carrier bags, second haul, vinted I wondered.

Landlord called two days ago. Needs to come this morning with a real estate agent to do an up to date valuation (changes in tax rules for landlords here in Oz). So for the past 48 hours I have done many, many shitty jobs... house is sparkling, bags to charity shop, tidied courtyard, washed sofa covers. Many. Shitty. Jobs.
