What is your ultimate comfort food and what do you make when you just can’t be bothered.

I have a cold 🤧 and I had forgotten how awful they can make you feel. I was going to make pizza tonight - I can just make the dough in the bread maker but I not sure if I can bothered to roll it all out.

What is your go to?

Warburtons buttered crumpet

Prawn crackers with various things stuffed in them. I usually have some fried off and stored in an air right tub for snacking on as they are instead of crisps but sometimes turn them into a lazy meal of sorts with things like leftover macaroni or cauliflower cheese, tuna or salmon with a little mayo, leftover roast chicken with a bit of sweet chilli sauce , chopped ham & grated cheese etc. The fillings are always cold and not too wet as you don't want soggy crackers.

If I am just tired - oven chips with melted cheese
if feeling a bit poorly - crunchy cereal and ice cold milk

Oh, hello me. All the things on toast. If I’m ever lucky enough to live alone my shopping bill will be £10 a week. I’ll be deficient in everything but it will be the BEST!

My mum regularly says that if she didn’t live with my dad her week would be:

Mon - beans on toast
Tue - cheese on toast
Wed - tinned tomatoes on toast
Thu - mushrooms on toast
Fri - spaghetti hoops on toast

😂

ImWearingPantaloons · 20/09/2026 18:58

M&S tinned hot chicken curry and microwave rice.

All of it for myself, none of this ‘serves two’ nonsense….

flubber975 · 20/09/2026 18:58

Tesco finest mac and cheese ready meal. Or plain pasta with cheese grated on top. Basically carbs and cheese.

wavingfuriously · 20/09/2026 18:58

Chocolate or pip n nut peanut butter

Fizbosshoes · 20/09/2026 18:59

Toast (ideally white bread)
or M and S baguette with butter (I know lots of MNs are appalled at M and S open bakery items, but im.too lazy to care)

MakingLasagne · 20/09/2026 19:00

For me, it’s what we always had when we were little and unwell, we called it ‘poorly soup’

JustFrustrated · 20/09/2026 19:12

Also, noting lots of people go to easy carb options. That makes me feel better

CarrieMoonbeams · 20/09/2026 19:13

A big pile of Chilli Heatwave Doritos spread out on a plate with grated cheese covering every millimetre, nuked in the microwave for about a minute. Tremendous!

Oh and a big mug of tea with sugar.

HorseandHeron · 20/09/2026 19:16

Pasta with sauce made of loads of fried garlic, chilli, chopped tinned tomatoesmand dried oregano. Sometimes I don't even bother with the tinned toms as they take too long to cook, and just use slivers of sun dried tomatoes and some toasted pine nuts or olives or (sounds weird but is delicious) steam cauliflower florets on top if the pasta then stir the fried garlic and chilli oil into it.

SerendipityCat · 20/09/2026 19:25

Rice pudding (Ambrosia for preference, supermarket own brand will do at a pinch) eaten straight out of the tin.
Cheese on toast with a squirt of brown sauce on the side for dipping.
Brussels or chicken liver pate on toast.
Sardines on toast.
Soft-boiled eggs with toast soldiers.
4 x weetabix drowned in milk with lots of sugar on top.
Toasted crumpets with lots of butter and Marmite.
Tesco tinned mackerel in Katsu curry sauce with Ritz crackers.

And now I'm hungry and there's a bar of Aldi Moser Roth milk chocolate in the cupboard calling my name...
