What is your ultimate comfort food and what do you make when you just can’t be bothered.

I have a cold 🤧 and I had forgotten how awful they can make you feel. I was going to make pizza tonight - I can just make the dough in the bread maker but I not sure if I can bothered to roll it all out.

What is your go to?

Toast. Things on toast.

PoloThePolarBear · 20/09/2026 12:57

Tarka daal - I can make it fresh but always have some of the spice tailor packets in the cupboard for if I’m ill. Incredibly easy - five minutes, one pan. Sometimes I have it with toast, or even a cheese toastie to dip into it.

Beans on toast with grated cheese on top.

Tomato soup with tiger bread.

Pasta with chopped bacon and mozzarella. Add tomatoes and mushrooms if I've got them handy.

Chicken goujons in a crunchy baguette.

Beans with grated cheese, marmite on buttered toast on the side (don’t like beans ON toast as the toast gets soggy).

A fish finger sandwich.

I had this the other night. If you have a Waitrose near you, they are currently selling a box of Birds Eye 6 giant battered fish fingers for £2. They were perfect 😁

Toast. Things on toast.

Oh, hello me. All the things on toast. If I’m ever lucky enough to live alone my shopping bill will be £10 a week. I’ll be deficient in everything but it will be the BEST!

Gettingbysomehow · 20/09/2026 13:04

No food. I just cant be arsed with it after a lifetime of feeding other people. Now I live alone its a huge effort to cook and eat anything and I rarely feel hungry.

JMSA · 20/09/2026 13:05

Alpro vanilla yogurt (it’s nice and custardy), with granola, nuts, chopped dates and banana.
