DH has been cross with me for weeks after I told a very pretentious friend of mine that he watched "Love Island" apparently he has never watched it, it was TOWIE and I got muddled.

OP posts:
ImogenBrocklehurst · 12/09/2026 08:45

Why I didn’t want to put American plastic cheese in a (hypothetical) macaroni cheese.

ImogenBrocklehurst · 12/09/2026 08:55

Years ago, we also argued about my decision to serve homemade tomato and brown sauces at my (again hypothetical) B&B. “Everyone” said that that was a stupid idea and “everyone” just wants Heinz and HP; “everyone” turned out to be one content maker on YouTube.

OneRealOchreHiker · 12/09/2026 08:57

If a planes engines stop in flight, it doesn’t immediately fall from the sky, it would glide. ExDH insisted it would plummet. Was so happy to watch an air crash investigation on this exact same thing and be proved right even if it was years later and we were divorced by then!

oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriends · 12/09/2026 09:53

Another one about Brussels sprouts.
Soon-to-be DH was "helping" prepare Xmas dinner, & this was in the days when it was normal to put a x in the base to help them cook evenly - but he put the x in the top. An argument ensued, he stated that both his DM & her sister had always done this.
A few weeks later, I asked his Aunt Doris about this, she laughed & called him a stupid boy.
The row when we got home was far worse than the original. I was apparently neurotic & paranoid for even asking for confirmation that I was right.

AFigureWalks · 12/09/2026 09:55

“Ready to bake” croissants on a camping trip.
Still young, newly graduated, DH (boyfriend then) insisted they’d be fine. I wouldn’t eat them.
I laugh and remind him of this still, 30 years on. He still insists they were fine. It makes me snigger. This is a professor who still asks if he can have a bag of crisps when I’m around.

mindutopia · 12/09/2026 10:17

Our first real proper argument about 2 years into our relationship was because we were meant to go travelling for several months and dh drunkenly decided to blow his travel budget on a banjo because apparently that was the moment when he really needed to take up banjo playing. 😂

I was not at all pleased and he experienced the full blow of all my displeasure. The banjo was duly returned.

I count that as one of only 3 or 4 proper arguments we’ve ever had in nearly 20 years together, so I think we’re doing okay.

highlandcoo · 12/09/2026 10:35

A long time ago and he was young but still ..

insisted repeatedly he could beat Martina Navratilova, one of the top women players in the world at the time, in a game of tennis. Because apparently men are always stronger than women and his superior strength would be more than a match for her skill. I was outraged instead of amused and a furious argument went on for quite a long time.

DH has never played tennis.

Huge HUGE row about him putting rice on my plate. It was really about how he likes to do practically everything for me! I've tried and tried to tell him I don't want him to do everything for me - it makes me feel that I have no control over my own life. I know he's just being nice...but it drives me mad!

Thewonderfuldollypartonsbra · 12/09/2026 19:05

Dp and I don't decorate or put flat pack together as it leads to awful rows

The best was with my ex

I'd had our dd 3 days earlier and this was the first time we'd taken her out

Walking down the street,a row broke out over the sex of the tellietubbies

It ended with me screaming 'po is a fucking girl!' as I stomped off with baby dd still asleep in her pram and showing much more maturity than her parents

30 years later,I stand by the fact im right-tinky winky and dipsy where boys and la-la and po were girls

Not a partner but my brother

Many years ago, there was a programme called 'Beverly hills 90210'

Bro was adamant it was 'Beverly hills 90120'

It got rather heated and I broke his nose

Im not proud of it now and got into a lot of trouble for that but at the time I really believe he deserved it

TaterTots68 · 12/09/2026 19:19

ExH - sulked massively for weeks because I mentioned that our newborn dd looked a bit like my dad.
Sulked for ages because I had been staying at my parents' to help care for DM when she was dying. The night she died, I came home but he wanted to go clubbing (he still went!).
Sulked for ages because my male cousin kissed me on the cheek at DM's funeral.
There's a reason why he's an ex

TheDevilWears · 12/09/2026 19:22

I called exDH a printer cunt 😂 Our printer was doing what it always did and refusing to work when I urgently needed something printed … offline or out of alignment or ink or just being a dick! Along came exH to tell me that he never had a problem with it, it always worked fine for him and I’d obviously done something to upset its inky sensibilities 🙄 I just lost it … I’d never called him the C word before with my outside voice and he was just so shocked …

marshallzumarubble · 12/09/2026 19:42

Not long after we first moved into together we had a massive fight about whether it was acceptable to serve bolognaise with rice rather than some sort of pasta.

I may have stormed out, he may have threatened to bin the bolognaise, both of us may have called our mum's/grandma's for their opinions.

We laugh now. But bolognaise is only ever served with spaghetti. Penne at a push.

PyongyangKipperbang · 12/09/2026 20:11

😂😂😂😂

AnnieKenney · 12/09/2026 20:45

Can the concept of pestilence be applied to a wide group than than rodents? (I know)

ilovepixie · 12/09/2026 20:50

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 11/09/2026 21:02

Exactly! Not booree and nugget dh.

I’m with your DH.

Thepossibility · 12/09/2026 21:05

We were at a picnic with extended family and I was talking with my DM and he overheard me say “I sold my house." He was so mad at me he later went out and got everyone dinner and not me. Because I didn't say WE sold OUR house.
Like DM didn't bloody know it was his house too?

Sunbringer · 12/09/2026 21:09

ponyponyponys · 11/09/2026 16:03

Yes I think he’d be an awful King.

See this would hurt my feelings if DH said I’d be a bad Queen. He’d be right but he shouldn’t say it.

Sunbringer · 12/09/2026 21:11

Yes it can! Bovines come to mind.

Itllbereadysoon · 11/09/2026 20:45

The pronunciation of the word almond and when to have the heating on and off/turned up or down.

Pronunciation of the word almond also caused a huge row in our house!🫣

AnnieKenney · 12/09/2026 21:14

Sunbringer · 12/09/2026 21:11

Yes it can! Bovines come to mind.

Well I know that now! (guess who lost the argument) Six months later I got the Encyclopedia of Pests and Pestilence as a Christmas present... 🤣

Blackcountryexile · 12/09/2026 21:36

Eyes were rolled and patience lost when DH and I couldn't agree on the best route for a journey that we had no intention of making!

mrsdolittle · 12/09/2026 22:14

The correct way to weight new born Labrador puppies. One of us insisted it was in kilograms and the other pounds and ounces (can’t remember who favoured which). This was many many years ago but DC, who were very young at the time, still refer to the argument that ensued!

Nomorebullshitnotavailable · 12/09/2026 22:17

My husband and I get absolutely furious with each other around every summer because one of us thinks it’s better to be too hot and the other one of us is a normal human being.

MyLilacBeaker · 12/09/2026 22:36

When i was pregnant with our second we had a massive row over the fact that my husband had eaten the last cheese slice (the fake cheese you put on burgers) and I was craving and saving it for a sandwich. I didnt talk to him for 3 days after. I ended the row by saying he was the most selfish human being on the planet. I then cried for about an hour 😂 we laugh about it now of course 😂 pregnancy hormones are lethal 😂😂😂

CookieCrumbles23 · 12/09/2026 22:48

Whilst pregnant, I used to argue with my husband ALOT… in my head! I then used to tell him about my imagined arguments with him, which then turned into an actual argument. Oh how we laugh now!

We also had a big argument over the board game, frustration 😂
