Longley Farm Cottage Cheese

Over my many years on here, there have been many threads about the yumminess of Longley Farm cottage cheese. I am a big fan, and fairly local.

It's the best cottage cheese by a country mile but seems to be increasingly hard to get hold of! Home Bargains no longer stock it, and the normal (i.e. full fat) version gets snapped up in M & S very rapidly.

The chive one is the best! So fresh and delicious. Been eating it for ever!

My absolute favourite and the low fat one just isnt half as good is it ? Must be the full fat !

I used to get it in Home Bargains. I was so delighted to at last have found a proper, delicious cottage cheese. Then they stopped stocking it and I haven't had any since.

Tescos have a plain Polish cottage cheese that is OK. Not as good as Longley but not awful like most of the low fat stuff.

I wish Home Bargains would stock it again.

Asda has it around here.
I don’t live far from where it’s made, so thankfully we get it in local shops too.

It disappeared from Asda and Morrisons here but M&S now stock it. So I now have a good excuse to regularly visit the food hall 😃

Selfishly gutted that the rest of the world has cottoned on- I've bought it for years as the closest thing to fresh ricotta- shop bought ricotta is so stodgy.
But I'm happy for them as a business! Well deserved.

Found it in Herons food the other day . Sadly for me , it’s just to rich and makes me feel a bit queasy if I eat the whole tub in my lunch break ( easily done ) .

Waitrose has it, and my local farm shop (which isn't very helpful!).M&S always sold out. Waitrose own is also very good, though not quite as good.

The problem is resisting eating it off the spoon.

At least half the tub never makes it to my plate!

I noticed this and my local Morrison's only does plain now.

Booths have it if you’re in the north.

Sainsbury’s sell the plain one. Co op sell all varieties.

Yes we do a 40 miles round trip to get it . It's worth it though .

It's gone from my local Morrisons, and I've never seen it at Waitrose. Will try M&S, I didn't know they do it! I really miss the pineapple one 😭

Can’t get my hands on it anymore. Our Morrison’s have stopped stocking it, haven’t seen it in any Waitrose. They had it in Marks but it’s often sold out.

I have some of the chive one in the fridge. I'm new to cottage cheese - what should I do with it?

I had half a pot on a jacket potato for lunch today with spring onions. It is the best but I can only get it on Morrisons online round me. Our local M&S apparently stocks it although it's always sold out and they only ever have the pineapple ones left 😬.

It's tasty enough to eat on its own, but goes well on jacket potato, ryvitas, with a salad or cold meat - roll it up in strips of ham, beef, sliced turkey etc. I'm sure there are more adventurous ways of eating it but it needs no adornment!

Cottage cheese with pineapple for me!!!

Take a teaspoon over to the fridge ,
Open fridge door
Open cottage cheese
Dunk spoon in it
Open mouth
Insert spoon
Repeat until tub is empty
Hide evidence.

I discovered its delights in the 1970s, along with those of ryvita, thanks to my mum (who liked them and wasn't on a diet), and could never understand why Cottage cheese on crispbread was a penance for people trying to lose weight.
