I'm so excited for Autumn, all the beautiful colours, the cool breezes, the food, the clothes. This roasting sticky summer has gone on for ever. I love Autumn so much.

Meeeeeee! Just heading out to get DC some soft autumnal bedding.

Nightnova · 29/08/2026 15:05

Not me. It's usually wet, cold, dark and dreary. Like today.

QueenCamillaMW · 29/08/2026 15:06

Meeeee!!
Autumn is my favourite season. I'm looking forward to cosy jumpers amd scarves, soup, roast dinners, lighting the wood burner, the changing leaves... I could go on... 😁🍁

Not here it isn't! I'm roasting. This is a thread for positivity about Autumn.

Very happy to be wearing a sweater in the rain today. Genuinely!
Pissed off that so many shops have CHRISTMAS stuff in already.

I like the cooler weather!

I’m an autumn lover too! If I could live somewhere that had winter for three months, spring and summer lasting about six weeks combined, then the rest was autumn I’d move there.

AutumnMuse · 29/08/2026 15:46

I love autumn! It’s not too hot or too cold, so I can dress up more without looking scruffy or getting sweaty like I do in summer. The autumn colours feel magical, just like Christmas. I can visualise it right now.. Well, minus the heavy rain, of course!

QueenCamillaMW · 29/08/2026 18:12

It will also be nice not to have to think about sun protection. I'm a redhead so have a whole collection of suncream, sun hats, UV protective clothing, etc. Plus trying to keep in the shade, remembering to carry water and suncream, it's all such a hassle.

tobee · 29/08/2026 19:23

No. I’m sick of it already. Sitting around waiting for the stupid rain to stop. It just curtails my life

Where do you live!? It has barely rained all summer.

Noooo. We've had plenty of rain over the last few days. At least another 6 months of sunshine and light nights would be perfect. I feel so much better in vitamin D season.

I love bright autumn days. However, the reality for autumn where I live is damp, grey days and long dark nights.

And don't talk to me about snuggling under a blanket while drinking hot chocolate to feel cosy.

So, the answer to the OP is no.

My favourite clithes are summer dresses and sandals, and not having to spend 10 minutes to bundle up to leave the house. I prefer not to feel constrained by several layers.
Soup is OK. Stews are meh.

DrCoconut · 29/08/2026 19:34

Do people only eat soup in autumn or something? I eat it all year round.

JeanSimmons · 29/08/2026 19:40

Oh look, the moaners have showed up. There is another thread at the moment for people who want this wretched summer to go on forever. This thread is for those of us who love the year's most beautiful season.

Me. 🙋‍♀️

The cool but not cold weather, the colours, Halloween, less allergies for me, my children’s birthdays and Christmas just around the corner. We decorate the house for autumn inside and out because it’s our favourite season. 🍂

henlake7 · 29/08/2026 19:54

Can't wait I'm built for cosy knitwear and hot chocolate (preferably whist listening to the rain and reading a good book!).😄
I love oversized clothes, chunky boots and comfort food. Summer is just all my least favourite things.

still waiting though...here in the SE the rain has arrived but it's still unpleasantly muggy alot of the time.

But in the hot weather I have to take time to protect myself from the sun. I find the autumn and winter so much easier.

We are all different.

I hate summer as well. Sweating and itching all day long. I can't wait for the beauty of Autumn.

SW London! It rained today and that’s enough. And I know it hasn’t rained all summer but you were asking about autumn. I’m in a massive grump today and now it’s dark and only 8.19!! Give me my long summer days back.

😑

I always wonder with the autumn lovers of Mumsnet where they live as they mention crisp autumn days and I can’t remember the last time we had one. It’s just humid but a few degrees cooler on a good autumn day. And then masses of rain and dark and drear. And then there’s winter which is the same

tobee · 29/08/2026 20:23

It should be beautiful op but it just isn’t any more. And I hate hot chocolate.

Sorry, I misread that but YABU to think that we can have extreme heat and light all year round

Who said anything about hot chocolate? That said, I love it and this is an appreciation thread, not a grump thread.
