Anyone else feeling sad about summer ending and autumn beginning?

Is anyone else sad that summer is ending? I’ve really embraced the sunny days this year, I find the summer mornings spur me on, and have explored the outdoors a lot with my children.
I’m feeling pretty sad now that summer is over and it’ll soon be dark mornings, back to school and all that jazz. Don’t get me wrong once I adapt I do love autumn and winter. But I hate letting go of summer.
Anyone else?

Yes I am feeling really panicky about it. Hate the winter. Roll on spring.

I usually am but this summer has been relentless. I’m honestly relieved at the thought of cooler weather.

BruFord · 28/08/2026 22:03

I can't stand the heat so no, I'm glad that autumn is on its way.

TheOnlyWayIsIlford · 28/08/2026 22:04

I love summer, even the extremely hot bits, and feel a real loss as the evenings loom in.

Tunaboona · 28/08/2026 22:04

I'm glad the heat has gone. But also slightly dreading a very very wet oct-feb which is what seems to be forecast. I've ordered wellies and over trousers for the school run this week.

Mattsmum2 · 28/08/2026 22:05

But early but love this, so no, seasons changing is what is fabulous about the UK.

I’m the same I hate this hot weather I can’t wait for it to be cooler and to get my autumn/winter clothes out

SundayGirl86 · 28/08/2026 22:07

No, I love autumn and winter. I’ve really struggled with the heat this summer and am ecstatic that we’re moving to cooler weather and much needed rain.

Norwaygirl · 28/08/2026 22:08

No, I am delighted. I hate light nights abd the anti social behaviour that goes with them. September to December are the best four months of the year.

FairViewRosie25 · 28/08/2026 22:09

I love the heat. Really getting depressed about autumn starting

Sunseekers · 28/08/2026 22:09

Yes, we've barely had any nice weather. The countrywide heatwave didn't reach our corner of the UK. a few sunny dry days before autumn hits would be grand

WarmthAndDepth · 28/08/2026 22:10

Really not looking forward to going back to school and grinding through yet another relentless year -a MAT broke my wonderful school and 5 years later, it is unrecognisable and so, so sad.

WaneyEdge · 28/08/2026 22:11

Mixed feelings. I hate the dark nights and mornings but I’m glad that it keeps (hopefully) the anti social behaviour down. I hate rain though and it always rains loads where we are. Been in London today and it’s been lovely.

Anjelika · 28/08/2026 22:11

I’m with you OP. I love the summer and always feel a bit sad when this Bank Holiday is over as it’s all downhill to Christmas.

The only thing I am looking forward to is getting the house sorted a bit as I can’t be bothered in the summer - would rather be outside.

ShapeofanLonmyforehead · 28/08/2026 22:11

No, I love autumn. Hate wasps. Also hated this bloody heatwave. Goodbye summer!

pinkishtongue · 28/08/2026 22:11

I’d really like a spell of perfect weather. Around 20 degrees with a breeze. Instead we have to go from unbearably hot to pissing down which is very annoying.

JeanSimmons · 28/08/2026 22:13

No, not even remotely. I love autumn 🍁. I don't even mind winter. This heat this summer has driven me to distraction, I can't wait to be able to wear all my beautiful autumn dresses.

LeavingAtLast · 28/08/2026 22:13

I hate autumn and winter. Along with the pretence of getting “cozy” and wrapped up. The cold hurts and the dark is depressing. Roll on March

HRHCurmudgeon · 28/08/2026 22:14

I’m really missing the heat. I’ve loved this summer. I really hate the wind and rain (unless I can stay home on the sofa) and find Christmas utterly depressing.

I’d like a lovely 25 degrees till October, some sunny autumn days and then to hibernate till March please.

Where do you live!? Almost everywhere has had a lot of heat.

beaglescurleduplikebagels · 28/08/2026 22:15

Nope, this is my absolute favourite time of year - I can’t wait!

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 28/08/2026 22:15

No. I really haven’t enjoyed this summer. It’s been relentless, endless heat, which has just made me miserable. I’m looking forward to cooler days and darker nights.

Alittlebitofthebauble · 28/08/2026 22:16

I've been struggling in the heat (our flat gets boiling), so am welcoming the cooler weather, despite loving the sun. I do know what you mean though, I can get a bit wistful about the long days of summer ending.

However, autumn was my Mum's favourite season. That or winter. She loved the colours everywhere so I will see her everywhere soon. 😍

Same. I'm astonished to see all of these threads complaining about the end of this horrible boiling summer. I love autumn even in a normal year, let alone after a summer like this one.

Bufftailed · 28/08/2026 22:17

Yeah it’s been brilliant. Gutting really, even thing I love winter
