Questioning the timing of Meghan Markle's product advert?

We’ve literally just lost Dolly Parton - an actual icon, a legend, and a woman who did more for children's literacy and charity than most governments.

And what does Meghan Markle do exactly FOUR HOURS after the news breaks? She drops an ad for her new "spiced apple butter." under her As Ever brand

AIBU to think there is zero chance this was an accident? She just couldn't stand the global news cycle not being about her for five minutes. Any normal, decent PR team would immediately pull a condiment launch out of respect. Instead, she deliberately pushed it through to piggyback on the trending algorithms and steal the limelight.

It is absolutely vile. Dolly was a total class act, and Meghan is literally trying to sell overpriced jam over her grave. I am just so sickened by the sheer, unadulterated narcissism of it. Tell me I'm not the only one seeing exactly what she's doing here?

The world hasn’t come to a stop just because Dolly Parton died. There were loads of adverts on ITV tonight - should they all have been cancelled?

HorribleHisTories15 · 27/08/2026 23:20

Do you think it was Miss Markle with the apple sauce in ….the kitchen? Very, very smooth.

Let’s cut to the chase @OP,what do you really dislike about her?

Wow, the aggressive swearing really isn't necessary, but I suppose it perfectly matches the maturity level of your argument. If you genuinely believe a woman who famously micromanages her entire public image just happened to drop a vanity product launch on the exact day the world is mourning a genuine legend, then I have a bridge to sell you. It’s not an "insane theory," it's basic, calculated PR piggybacking. Telling someone to get therapy just because they can see right through a cynical marketing stunt says a lot more about your blind devotion than it does about me.

Why on earth do you feel this level of hate towards a woman you've never met and who doesn't affect your life at all?

shellyleppard · 27/08/2026 23:22

@MellowSubmarine it was definitely like butter but with apple taste?? Lovely on fresh bread 😋 🍞

mondaytosunday · 27/08/2026 23:23

You cannot be serious. These releases are scheduled months in advance. The death of a singer is hardly a consideration. And no it’s not a ‘mistake’ or a plan - just a coincidence. Honestly as sad as the death of Ms Parton is, it does not affect commercial concerns one iota - Apple released its new Mini Mac that day - why not pull them up on that?!

Sandyknees · 27/08/2026 23:23

Surely if anything her ‘launch’ would have had less publicity because of the timing?

Duckiewasthefirstniceguy · 27/08/2026 23:23

This is their first post. We’re being trolled, people.

I appreciate the originality, though!

How do you explain that she posted the day before saying “coming tomorrow" then?

We are discussing the incredibly distasteful PR hijacking of a beloved global icon's death, and people on here are literally typing out emojis about how lovely the apple butter tastes on fresh bread. It is genuinely dystopian. You are exactly the target audience her marketing team was banking on when they refused to pause the launch today. As long as you get your aesthetic toast, who cares about the utter lack of respect, right?

Urgh. tbf though, there's lots of Meghan haters here regularly so it's hard to tell.

Franjipanl8r · 27/08/2026 23:26

People’s hatred for Meghan has become so intense, it’s definitely a form of radicalism. OP please just step away from anything about Meghan, no one else has even noticed she launched a spread, let alone thought the launch was timed with Dolly Parton’s death!

Ponderingwindow · 27/08/2026 23:26

How on earth on these things related?

Yes, you're right. Everything you say makes sense and is a sensible, reasonable thing to say.

Of course it was scheduled in advance—nobody thinks she whipped up a batch of apple butter in four hours because she heard sad news. The point is that basic competence and human decency means someone on a massive PR payroll should have the basic situational awareness to hit pause on a scheduled ad when a global icon dies. Letting it drop anyway just shows they didn't care enough to check the room, as expected of the royals.

If she "famously micromanages her entire public image" she's not had much success at it has she, given the vitriol towards her.

Yes, I agree. Do you want a hot chocolate before bed?

I agree I bashed my toast off the floor this morning and then ate it dry so it wouldn't be aesthetic as a mark of respect for queen dolly 😇

Mamma193838 · 27/08/2026 23:33

OP I don’t think everyone cares that much. I liked Dolly Parton. I felt sad for a few minutes after hearing the news and then forgot about it. The world didn’t stop because she died. It’s perfectly fine for the ad to go on as scheduled.

Brb, just going to order a case of the apple butter, it sounds amazing. And big thanks to OP for bringing the product to my attention, I had missed it's release due to my algorithm being full of Dolly Parton, rip.

I hope they offer next day delivery, it looks so yummy 😍

I didn't even know Meghan Sussex had a product launch until this thread. I dare say I'm not the only one.

You are clearly suffering from an acute case of Sussex Derangement Syndrome @OpalAmber.🤪🤪🤪

Touching grass, eating healthily, clearing your cookies, exercise and learning things should help.👩‍⚕️🩺😷

So you're now admitting it was preplanned to launch then?
Before you were saying MM specifically chose then to release it to piggyback on DP's death
