I’m planning for next summer already and interested in how much other people’s holidays cost to see what I can afford! I’ll go first

Romania
2 people
9 days
Decent hotels
Eating out every meal except breakfast
Total: £3,200k

Gran Canaria

2 adults
2 teens
£5,200 4* AI hotel & flights
£1500 spending money to include water park & boat trip

I can tell you that Gran Canaria is, well, not very nice, but fortunately our hotel is lovely so we are having a good time regardless.

Most recent holiday was July/August. 2 adults, 2 dc 5. 11 nights in the Peloponnese. Flights and bed and breakfast accommodation was £3600. Car hire £600. Spending money £1400 for meals, boat trip, gifts etc. So total was around £5600. Worth every penny 🙂

Ten days in Italy/Slovenia for one adult and two teens (well, 18yo so two adults really, but just me paying!).

£500ish flights.
£700 car hire
£2400ish accommodation - 4 different but all very lovely Airbnbs.
£2000 spending money- petrol, food (mix of eating out and sc), entrance fees etc.

It was lovely!

I'm curious. How is knowing what other people can afford going to help you know how much you can afford?

menopausequeen · 24/08/2026 11:51

I think knowing how much different types of holiday cost will help them work out where they could go/what they could do next year.

Well, I mean I know roughly how much money I have! It’s more inspo and what I can get for my money and if I need to save more.

Why is Gran Canaria not very nice? I usually go to either Maspalomas or Puerto Rico and find these areas lovely.

Fuerteventura, last week of July, went on my own. Just over £700 all inclusive for a 4* adults only hotel with spa. Was lovely! Barely spent any money while there, couple of coffees out and a few souvenirs, that was all.

We’ve only been away once this year so far. 10 days in St Lucia - about 7.5k for the 2 of us, I think.

I’ve forgotten the name of the hotel but it was in Costa Calma if that helps!

Americanodrinker · 24/08/2026 13:04

We’re going to Cyprus soon, 2 adults, 4* AI for a week cost £3.5k. We will spend some extra euros on an excursion and will have dinner out of the hotel on one night and probably a wander outside the hotel a few times, stop in a bar so we will probably spend an additional 3-4 hundred euros, possibly less.

Two Adults and Two Teens

Annual Membership of Camping and Caravan Club - £60
3 Weeks in a CCC Campsite in Dorset with Electricity - £350
Trip from Wiltshire to Dorset - £80 petrol and stop on the way
Food/Spending Money/Drinks - £600

In October we are using a CCC link campsite in Lake Garda
Travel (Ferry, Petrol and Two overnight stops) - £900
Campsite in Lake Garda for 7 nights with electricity - £199
Food/Spending Money/Drinks - £350

Over the years my DH and I have given each other (as well as received from other family member) all the Camping gear we need and that has probably over 20 years of marriage cost us about £300 per year to do this

Not top I.e the Dorchester or the Ritz but nothing less than a 4* city centre. Travel was the main expense and some meals.

MyWildOliveGoose · 24/08/2026 13:09

Just booked next year - Majorca, 3 adults, 2 children - 4 star, two rooms, one being a family swim up room, all inclusive, 6 nights £6679 😬 .. we did pay an extra £600 for private transfers due to health reasons, so would have been £6079 x

Savvysix1984 · 24/08/2026 13:26

Haven’t booked next summer yet but just back from Tenerife and paid 2.4k for 2 adults and a teen B&B in a 4* hotel.
did just book Gran Canaria for half term (5 nights) 1 adult 2 teens for 1k, staying in a place we’ve stayed in before which is lovely.

boys3 · 24/08/2026 13:38

Ten nights in June across three Greek islands almost identical cost to that in your opening post @Shuttermeup . Though I’d say our accommodation was imo very under-priced for what is was, and can already see that one place we stayed is around 30% higher for the same time in 2027.

moleeye · 24/08/2026 13:44

In Crete atm, 10 nights 2 adults, 2 kids in a 2 bed 5* apart hotel, B&B £3200. Have allocated £2k spending money think we’ll come in at about £1500. This has done lunch and dinner out every day, Boat trip, day trip to the water park and renting cabanas on the beach.

currently trying to cost 18 days in Thailand for next year (3 or 4 hotels as want to travel around a bit and do a couple islands) but the flights aren’t out yet! Would like it to come in at 8k (flights/accommodation and spending money) but that might be a pipe dream!
