What did you wake up to this morning?

I was woken by my 7 year old crying because his 12 year old brother said he would give him £6 if he licked his feet. Then refused to give him the £6 after the feet were licked.

For the record I have enforced the £6 debt in the hope it will teach the 12 year old not to make stupid bets with his brother. FML.

What nonsense have you woken up to this morning?

I had a VERY strict rule with my 3 kids. Absolutely no financial transactions between them. No bets. No loans. No payments for tasks. No purchasing of goods. L Nada.

required due to middle child with extreme tendency towards loan sharking … interestingly now one of the top economics students in the UK 🤦🏻‍♀️

Highly recommend

My partner took the toilet roll off the holder during the night and placed it on the toilet cistern. I had to do contortions to reach around to get it. He had done the same thing when I went to the toilet in the middle of the night and I put it back on its holder then.

I wish he had money to piss off permanently and leave me alone to enjoy my own space.

Keep doing the lottery💜

A very shouty cat at 6am.

Another cat with the quietest meow in the history of cat but somehow it gets through at 7am.

The smell of toast at 9am.

My first lie-in in months. Bliss.

Well I have a big birthday today, so I woke up to presents, cards, flowers, champagne, and a cuddle from our little doggy. Oh and smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for brekkie! So I've had a great start!

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 15/08/2026 12:32

Car leaving at stupid o’clock (4am!) and then the cat wanting to go out and have her cat flap unlocked at 8.

@AMurderofMurderingCrows don’t you know people are entitled to their opinions as that’s what forums are for! Not trying to be controversial at all btw. Maybe some people live in bubbles but it simply doesn’t sit right with me, the 12 year old is almost a teenager and should know better. A 7 year old is a small child and gullible. I just find it disgusting and I’m entitled to say that whether you like it or not. You sound aggressive.

Doteycat · 15/08/2026 12:34

Cats are pains, yesterday mine woke me miaowing and scratching at the living room door at 6am, today she didn’t bother with the histrionics. She only wants to go out then returns for food at some point.

My cat shouting at me for his breakfast and a little crow on next-door roof telling a juvenile Red Kite off at 5 this morning.

PotentialPartTimer · 15/08/2026 12:38

I was woken at 6am by my 4 month old noisly struggling to fart in her sleep. Same thing that woke me at 5am. And 4am. And 3am.

Came down for a bit of peace around 630am. Cracked open the garden doors for some of the lovely cool breeze. A squirrel decided he could wonder in a few minutes later ...

Woken up at 5am with a fox playing in my garden with my dogs squeaky ball!

Starrylawn · 15/08/2026 13:01

I wear an eye mask and ear plugs and never woken up by anything unless I set my alarm. Dozed till 10am and then my 11yr old made us brunch.

ThatCosy · 15/08/2026 13:01

On the living room floor to my 17 year old getting me up to take her to work. The nine year old is refusing to sleep alone and I got sick of being pushed out of bed by him so I came downstairs. I think I've had two hours of sleep.

5am & a fucking mosquito buzzing near my ear. He is now dead.

Not popular to point out on MN but at this time of year, almost certainly 'she' not 'he'
And only the females bite

Happyjoe · 15/08/2026 13:05

I have a rescue bengal cat and anyone who knows bengals, they're baby screaming loud. She screams when comes home to tell me she's home then goes straight back out again. She's in and out all night... 2am, 4am, 5am, 6am screams. Every night, 365 days a year. Can't lock her in because the shouting increases with anger of not being allowed out.

Then she sleeps all day, sometimes I go up to her and just say 'meow meow meow' over and over and she just looks at me like am an idiot for waking her up. She makes me laugh.

your 12 year old sounds like a perverted creep. that's absolutely disgusting

Your comment says more about you than you realise. Only a perverted mind would even go there...

I rarely name anything! They only ended up with names because they seem to have become permanent residents - they made the most ridiculous nest in my bay tree. They crash landed in it each time, and broke the nest. How their one baby survived I have no idea. Chaotic idiots!

That sounds VERY entertaining!
