What did you wake up to this morning?

I was woken by my 7 year old crying because his 12 year old brother said he would give him £6 if he licked his feet. Then refused to give him the £6 after the feet were licked.

For the record I have enforced the £6 debt in the hope it will teach the 12 year old not to make stupid bets with his brother. FML.

What nonsense have you woken up to this morning?

Silence - it was wonderful. Am a grumpy so and so if I don't get my 30 minutes of silence before anyone else wakes up so it was a good morning.

PensionPTake · 15/08/2026 11:44

A neighbour with loud machinery going. Yesterday it was a neighbour with workman in banging around and Monday it was yet another different neighbour doing noisy work in the garden. It's obviously the week for it.

CalpolOnToast · 15/08/2026 11:45

Did he lick his own foot or his brother's? 🤣

An unusually low and noisy plane, coming in to land at the local airport. They don't usually wake me but the noise seems to be amplified in the warm still air.

Woke with the heat and the sad feeling of being home after a lovely holiday (and it was cooler there).
Then the gradual realisation that I needed to get dd to the station because she's going to London to watch a show. Probably Operation Mincemeat. Again.
Then I nearly fell over her because she's vacated her bedroom because while we (me and dh) were on holiday a spider the size of a squirrel apparently ran across the floor. Dh and ds unhelpful. So her room is now out of use until the apocalypse hits apparently.

I'm tempted to persuade either of them to hoover her room and tell her the squirrel-spider has gone, but neither of them is capable of keeping up a lie, and if I say that, she'll know it's a lie because I hate spiders too.

Husband's alarm at 7 as it's clear out of the holiday cottage and get to the ferry day

Better than 6am yesterday when 9yo had a nightmare about the dog dying (other ddog was put down a few weeks ago)

godmum56 · 15/08/2026 11:51

heat. I woke up to yet more fucking heat

Waitingfordoggo · 15/08/2026 11:51

That hilarious OP 😂 But also quite a terrible way to wake up, especially on a Saturday. My wake-ups are generally peaceful as my kids are young adults and we live in a quiet area. This morning I woke up feeling too hot which was helpful really as it prompted me to get up and get ready for work rather than stay put cuddling the dog.

The strangest wake-up I ever had was when I woke to small (at the time) DD at 4.45am who was dressed as a bride (complete with veil and flower headdress) and singing, very close to my face, in a high-pitched tone reminiscent of child singing voices in horror films. It was quite unnerving.

Sid and Nancy having loud, chaotic sex in the garden. Again. 🙄

They’re wood pigeons. Wood pigeon sex is loud and messy. There are feathers everywhere!

Awww we have a Sid and Nancy too, they just kiss though no sex.

Mine was a nice morning this time, I woke up to finally getting into the 15s, which I realise is still huge, however I started in the 19s and it feels like a big win.

Cherrysoup · 15/08/2026 11:52

Sweatiness. I’ve stripped the bed. Bloke from the neighbourhood app offering cardboard boxes so I can occupy myself packing up the house for the imminent move.

I would have thrown my keys at them and said post them when your done and gone back to sleep

Maybe you should go scaffolding in the 35 degree heat and see how awful it must be. Do you realise how hot scaffold tubes get in this heat? No wonder the poor lads are starting so early.

SanFranBear · 15/08/2026 11:56

Woke up in a Premier Inn, located miles from the city we actually came to visit 😁 But we did pay for the bottomless breakfast so not all bad (and had a cracking night out after we'd worked out buses!)

DepressedOfLewes · 15/08/2026 11:57

Bastard heat and noise

Duchoftheterrace · 15/08/2026 11:58

A small, round pony on the front lawn. So we'll be running a line of electric fencing round the paddock today. Bless his hooves. 💙

Neighbour having a bonfire #facepalm

ScorchedEarthAdjacent · 15/08/2026 12:02

Partner kissing me goodbye as he went off to work at 5.30 am. Which I don’t mind. Was less impressed by the neighbours having a conversation at normal volume meaning I struggled to get back to sleep

your 12 year old sounds like a perverted creep. that's absolutely disgusting

@idkbroidk I agree with your comment. That’s not normal or even funny to ask your little brother to do such a thing. The fact the 7 year old was crying speaks for itself. It wasn’t just about the money, he felt humiliated and the OP thinks that’s funny ffs. The 12 year old knew what he was doing, he’s a perv and was checking to see if his 7 year old brother would do as he asked if he promised him money. He’s creepy as f..k, what would he ask him to do next if he promises him more money?

Still not remotely reasonable to wake someone up at 5am.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 15/08/2026 12:06

The cat wanting his breakfast. That was at 5.30.

TroysMammy · 15/08/2026 12:10

My partner took the toilet roll off the holder during the night and placed it on the toilet cistern. I had to do contortions to reach around to get it. He had done the same thing when I went to the toilet in the middle of the night and I put it back on its holder then.

I wish he had money to piss off permanently and leave me alone to enjoy my own space.

Get a grip of yourself. Imagine calling a child a pervert.

You and @idkbroidk should be ashamed of yourself.

Posters trying to be controversial and the desperation for attention on this site sickens me.

Rain!!! And it was quite heavy too for a few minutes . I almost didn’t recognize it. Back up to 31 here but it’s been worse .

I woke up feeling cold, it's only about 21 here, mid Norfolk, might get some gardening done today now it's cooler.

Anonomoso · 15/08/2026 12:12

A raging sore throat. 😫

My 10 year old coming in to declare he was awake and then going back into his room to read!

Monkeypuppy · 15/08/2026 12:15

Little dog jumping on the bed at 7am, tail wagging furiously and determined to wake me up to get breakfast ready.
