What did you wake up to this morning?

I was woken by my 7 year old crying because his 12 year old brother said he would give him £6 if he licked his feet. Then refused to give him the £6 after the feet were licked.

For the record I have enforced the £6 debt in the hope it will teach the 12 year old not to make stupid bets with his brother. FML.

What nonsense have you woken up to this morning?

Woke to an alarm at 9.30 and very reluctantly crawled out of bed to go to a hotel breakfast. I had a lot of Sangria last night and felt sorry for myself. I'm stuffed now so am thinking about lying down for an hour before going to the pool.

My alarm for my 6am run. 13 mi, fml.

Mind you, usually it is a creepy breathy whisper in my ear...

Rain! On the velux windows, so had to get up to close them (or rather get DH to do it as otherwise I can't get back to sleep). By the time he had located the pole and closed the three windows, it had stopped again 😩, and I couldn't sleep anyway so may as well have done it myself and saved a grumpy DH (who did, as anticipated, fall straight back to sleep the moment his head hit the pillow).

I have recently got new blackout curtains and
i sleep in much later than I used to / it’s bliss!

I was woken at 8am by builders blaring their horn and shouting. That was not bliss

Alarm to go running. I'm still building back up after 3 years of not doing any exercise at all so I was pretty chuffed with my 2.75km effort. Needed to get it done early to avoid the heat...

A bit of a white wine headache at 7am and then remembering I needed to get a brisket in the oven to cook for 6hours. I did go back to bed after that though

A nice peaceful bedroom, cool as the window is letting the cool breeze in and a cup of tea from dh.

Weird wet stuff, falling from the sky, apparently! We are in the East too, wasn't expecting even a drizzle until Monday (left my washing on the line overnight too, spider willies be damned)

Same as most days, birds and sheep although I had a lay in until 6!

Lol! It’s not just DC2 who names the wild birds! We had Twiglet and KitKat the collared doves for a long time. It’s now their great (xmany) grandchildren.

Ours are called Kurt and Courtney. The tree outside our bedroom resembled kicking out time in the city centre this morning. Kurt and Courtney were having a shag whilst 3 others were knocking seven shades of shit out of each other. We have the most lawless tree in the village.

Someone’s cat outside yowling. 5am.

Same here for Kurt and Courtney. They are challenged by the steep slope of the bay window roof, so the sliding and shuffling woke me.

My husband, who didn’t sleep well last night which is unlike him, came to bed at 1 and woke me up and then he again woke up at 5 and he went for a pee, thus rendering me incapable of getting back to sleep, and then he’d the temerity to whinge he felt tired as he went off to play golf.

DD was being very quiet, but still disturbed me at 4.15am, coming in from a night out.
