Im sure they'll be lots of judgement on here as always but here we go

I really wish I hadn't married my 1st husband. He was a loser and still is.
I find 99% of kids so dull

People who have no desire to travel abroad and have no interest in different cultures are boring and dull as fuck.

Now, I take exactly the opposite view. Granted, my health limits my ability to travel outside the UK, but even apart from that I increasingly find that people who travel abroad a lot are appallingly, tubthumplingly pig ignorant about the different areas in the United Kingdom.

There are so aphorisms about travel broadening the mind, but it seems to me that often travel narrows the mind. I know people who’ve been to various parts of the world, every holiday in a different country, and they know next to nothing about this one. I’ve often been told in amazement of the ways other countries do such and such, or interesting sights and so on, the speaker being not only oblivious to the fact that there’s similar in the UK but actively and determinedly uninterested.

The narrow mindedness is truly astonishing.

I have recently realised how little I know about the place in which I live and have lived for the majority of my life. It is a true joy finding out about tit.

Newstartplease24 · Today 11:03

This is so true and I don’t dare say it either.
when you question adopting a change - either because it is pointless and consumes resources, or actively worse - you get told off and patronized for “resisting change”. I don’t resist good change. There’s a ton of stuff I’d change given the chance. I resist actively making my life worse. That’s not being a stuck in the mud, that’s being rational.

I feel like I've failed at life entirely.

I find it so strange that people have a faith of any description. So many religions are in my opinion about control especially the control of women and children. I went to a C of E primary school and we had bible studies thaught by the local vicar (it was a long time ago!) and at the age of 10 i can remember thinking that if fairies and Father Christmas weren't true why was I expected to believe that there was an all seeing but invisibible man up in the sky who knew everything, especially every bad thing anyone had ever done. I was picked to read in church frequently and even read in the local cathedral but even this did not imbue me with any belief in a deity. I felt no sense of occasion, no mystic presence. I liked the attention of being the "best reader" but that was a far as it went. . Historically and even today I think religion has been the source of almost incomprehensible levels of death, torture, pain and oppression. i cannot get my head round people who door knock to try and convert people, or who stand in town giving out leaflets, of course they should be free to do this but I think it is mad! would never dare say this out loud though,

I love my MIL. We have a great relationship. She openly admits that I'm her best friend. But I can't wait for her to die.

She's nearly 90 and beginning to decline. Because I'm the only one in the family who drives and because my work have been incredibly flexible I am the one to whom all the caring falls. To be honest, when she's ill, she only wants me around, not DH.

When FIL died, it was me who took her to hospital twice a day to visit him. I handled all the death issues, arranged the funeral, was the executor of the will etc. She relies on me heavily to organise all those things that are difficult for elderly people to manage. She's never got to grips with the internet, online payments or direct debits. She will ring me multiple times a day to repeatedly ask the same thing, yet has never got to grips with the fact that I work full time and can't always answer to tell her the name of her cat. She can't remember that she only has one now so is always searching for the names of cats that no longer exist and wondering why they won't come when she calls.

I love her but it's exhausting. I wish DD and DH would take up some of the burden. To give him credit, DH does try but she's not interested in his help.

I know this won't last much longer, but I'm wishing for it to end soon.

I absolutely hate visitors, especially workmen using my loo to the point I just avoid inviting people around/having any jobs done unless absolutely necessary in case they need to use it. It’s one of my biggest phobias for some reason.

the80sweregreat · Today 11:10

Elderly parents do become a bit of a burden at times.
I am dreading it with myself and Dh and I hope I die before it comes to relying on children because I know my two will never cope with it ( or do any of it )

That putting your children through a divorce, new stepfamilies or general emotional neglect (includes making them spend excessive hours in childcare) is far more harmful than screentime. Yet many parents are incredibly sanctimonious about the "dangers" of screentime whilst damaging their kids in all kinds of other ways.

Disagree on the divorce bit. Growing up in a home where abuse, mental or physical, is part of the marriage is far worse than divorce. NOTHING selfish about leaving a situation like that. The opposite.

Crotchless underwear😂

the80sweregreat · Today 11:14

Children are damaged whatever happens though. If parents split , that’s wrong. Stay together, that’s also wrong. You can’t win with that one.

TiggersTheOnlyOne · Today 11:19

When I found out my ex was a paedophile a part of me was pleased and relieved to have a reason to get rid of him - always told I was so lucky to have him
bevausw he was great with the kids and took me on a fugly single mum of 2 and no one else would.

Having been single for 5 years a married colleague randomly messaged me and was very complimentary and flirty. We chatted and flirted online for several weeks then he suddenly ghosted me and I have no idea why and I’m too ashamed to ask what I did wrong because I know I was in the wrong for talking to him because he was married. So now I feel even more worthless than before he messaged me.

Often suicide is a death caused as a result of mental illness, how is it any different if you die from an illness?

That's the legal position now.
It used to be a crime.

homehomehome · Today 11:22

I really dislike pet dogs, but wouldn't admit as most friends and families have one.

Too many in shops and pubs
Too many off lead
Too intrusive - even the most placid dogs get in your personal space
Too smelly - can instantly tell when you enter someone's home they own a dog via the smell, instantly
Too yappy - can't distinguish between the neighbour they see every single day returning to their own home and a stranger/intruder

Aside from service/support dogs which represent >0.1% of the dog population they have very little usefulness (don't care for cats but at least they provide rodent control).

They provide companionship through blind obediance on the promise of being fed and walked so function more as slaves.

I'll pet a dog, and give it a friendly comment in a social environment if it approaches me, but in my head couldn't care less about dogs.

I think both things are true tbh. I agree that a lot of people travel the world in a box ticking way without much engagement with local people and then congratulate themselves on being cosmopolitan when they are really just rich.

But people who actually have the resources to travel and have no interest in learning about the world are pretty lame tbh.

When I’ve had a few drinks and a great song comes on the radio I pretend it’s me on stage singing it. I eat my food on my bed because I’ve got into the habit of not sitting at the dining table (no one minds). Everything re housework and especially the washing has to be done my way or the high way. I’m difficult to live with. I have set routines every day.

That I hate my MIL. She is super rich - multi millionaire - with an income of at least £10k a month, and she lavishes it ALL on herself. Her daughter (my SIL) lives in a tiny house in an awful (dangerous) part of town, and doesn't have a pot to piss in. Scrimping and saving, not able to put the heating on, no treats ever - and all the while MIL is jet setting to exotic holidays, always in business class....with not one thought for her DD and grandkids welfare. MIL lives in a 6 bed mansion, and has several sports cars. On the rare occasions we meet up for a meal, MIL will let DH and SIL pay. Honestly, whenever I see her face, I feel the RAGE (but never show it obvs). DH and me are ok for money, but it would be nice to have been given a treat here and there. But no, we've never been given a bean. She's almost 80 now, and still has no thoughts of gifting money to avoid inheritance tax. Also, she never asks me about my adult children, who she's known since they were in primary school. Never asks after them, even after big life events like marriage and moving countries. If I mention them she stares into space and then maneuvers the conversation back to her. Grrrr.

We have one of these in our family. He's stupidly rich, lives on millionaire's row in a huge house. Could afford to buy his daughter a fleet of cars but bought her a box of cheap chocolates for xmas and that was generous for him!If anyone meets up with him he expects them to pay for his food/drink etc despite some of them really struggling. He DOES however pay for his grandkid's education but when he was awful to one of them and she didn't want to go to see him the following scheduled visit he threatened to withdraw it. When his current girlfriend moved in, he moved her into the annexe 'so he doesn't have to see her all the time' and employs her as a cleaner but doesn't pay her anything for it. He has stupid amounts of money in the bank and will be buried with most of it.

@Lifeomars did reading, sometimes quite tricky text aloud in a cathedral benefit you in later life. Did you go on to use your oratory, literary and confidence? Just wondering because a lot of music stars in years gone by honed their skills in church. I’m not trying to convince you of something you don’t believe in but it seems to have benefited you.

Yes same. I hate going to other peoples houses too. I would much rather meet in a neutral space.

If I try to make plans with someone and they say “oh just come to mine” I’m suddenly busy.

She's asking you because you're too helpful and useful. I think if your husband matched you, she might change her preference. God bless you and all the other women who have given so many unpaid caring hours to others.

Miraclemuma03 · Today 11:37

I hate visiting people..just anyone. I hate going to peoples houses and sitting in their home, it depleats my energy and im so busy I feel its a waste of my mental and emotional resources.. I dont mind visitors in my own home, where I can still do things and be busy and not just sit and mind numbingly chit chat. I also dont like sleeping over night anywhere and if we go on holidays I struggle to sleep and sometimes cut the holiday short so I can go home. I will also drive day and night to and from places rather then stay at someone's house for the night if driving through is an option..
