We’re in the south east so we have had no real respite and it will therefore, be more of the same.

Luckily for us, we are absolutely loving it. Our barbecue has never been used so much 😊

Same and tbh even when we don’t use the bbq we eat outside most evenings now. Plus means I don’t have to clear away all the kids crap off the table before dinner!

I’m in the love it camp but I’m deeply concerned about nature. There are no insects. Lots of blue bottles but I’m not seeing anything else. Even the car windscreen is totally bug free.

We’ve had loads of grasshoppers. It’s the one thing I do not like!

middlelife · 09/08/2026 08:09

Lashing with rain and quite cool this morning. North Scotland. My heating has been back in this week.

I went on holiday last week to the north east. It was so lovely and cool. And as we where driving back down south today I could feel the heat increasing

That’s exactly what my DH said when he was returning from Scotland in May

BeardofHagrid · 09/08/2026 08:22

I’m sick of watering my garden, it takes me an hour each evening. However much I put on, it’s all wilting by 11 the next day 😭

Its 17 degrees and raining steadily where I am in Scotland at the moment. We had 2 weeks of no rain with the last heatwave and I got so much laundry done it was great! I do feel bad for the south though and the recent wildfires have been terrifying.

It’s not just the south though, it’s central England too. My Midlands friend is also suffering

RaraRachael · 09/08/2026 08:24

I haven't worn one summer dress or pair of shorts this year which is the first year in ages.
I'd have been happy holidaying in England this year rather than have the stress of going abroad.

marriednotdead · 09/08/2026 08:43

I love the heat and sunshine as long as it’s cool enough to sleep- have decanted to the sofabed downstairs during the hottest nights here in London. Plants are getting used to having buckets of water chucked at them- not got the energy for the watering can now the hosepipe ban is in place. They seem to be ok with it.
The humidity is hard though, I need dry heat (fibromyalgia).
Not a fan of winter but can cope if the sun still comes out. Rain/damp makes my whole body ache.

Shudacudawuda · 09/08/2026 08:48

I'm done with it, and I'm in NW England.
We're just about to head to Scotland on holiday though which is great timing! Very happy this is the year we chose to have a Scotland holiday!

itsgettingweird · 09/08/2026 08:51

i don’t think daytime has got under 25° at hottest part of the day here since July heatwaves started?

It’s only showing 30° here next week?

We hit a record (for 24hrs!) during the first heatwave 😇

Personally I’m loving the weather as usually we stifle in the classroom for weeks and then it rains when summer holidays get going.

So I’m happy this year!

It may need to rain soon though as loads of school work to do 😂

alpenguin · 08/08/2026 22:46

It was about 15 degrees here. We had a week of warm Weather and that was it. No heatwave for me and im jealous of those who are complaining. I’d swap if I could.

I doubt very much you would swop if you knew what it was really like living in it.
It gets to 28 feels like 31 where I am and that's bad enough. Plus there is now the talk of problems for food production in the UK who seriously wants this heat and no rain?

Lentilcakes · 09/08/2026 09:18

it Was lovely in the week. Gonna boil in London again esp Thurs/fri being mid-30s.

Hedjwitch · 09/08/2026 09:19

Yes,if it comes to Scotland. Sick of grey, windy days and rain.

Neuronimo · 09/08/2026 09:20

Will this be the last this week, I really hope so? Our garden never looked more beautiful in May, now I have given up, we have lost so many shrubs and plants.

Thisismyfinesthour · 09/08/2026 09:25

Can't believe some of the responses on here about the heat being so great. It's climate changing and not for the better. It's going to carry on getting worse, it might be novel this year but in the long term if it's affecting the environment and food production. Prices will go up all over the place and it's not as simple as ,well we import food, other countries are in the same if not worse situation than us.
Be careful what you wish for - just saying.

Likeiloveyou · 09/08/2026 09:27

Yep. Can’t wait. I bloody love it.

JackJarvisEsq · 09/08/2026 09:30

I’m near Glasgow and it’s bucketing right now. Normally I’d moan and be gutted about not getting a washing hung out but I’m actually grateful for it.

seeing aerial views of the parched ground across England isn’t nice

mojojojoo · 09/08/2026 09:36

Anything over 30 and I can’t cope with it

NewGirlInTown · 09/08/2026 09:38

Fiftyandme · 09/08/2026 07:52

No. I’m so done with this summer. It’s been hideous. Every fucking day over 20 degrees since late May with regularly over 25. It’s fucking torture. It’s rained once in the past six weeks here.

I so agree with you. I’m in the South East and it has been thirteen weeks with no rain.
The summer has been one long fucking heatwave; it’s actually ruined summer for me because of the extreme heat. The house just doesn’t cool down.

I keep looking ten days ahead on the weather app and there is no fucking end in sight - I actually cried the other day. My body feels like it’s boiling from the inside, no respite since May.

leporello · 09/08/2026 09:39

We've only had 2 legit heatwaves on my stretch of the south coast. Don't think temps are rising to 30 this time either. You all need to be living by the sea - come and revive our dying bucket and spade resorts!

leporello · 09/08/2026 09:39

No jobs here mind.

HoraceCope · 09/08/2026 09:40

i saw a crow with his mouth open, apparently it is done to cool down.
i see empty ponds and birds hopping around desperate for water
i worry about the animals

BatshitCrazyWoman · 09/08/2026 09:41

I've lost several plants, they were planted in spring so didn't get a proper chance to get established before being blasted with heat. Everything is dying here (south east/London).

I hate the heat, and also have low blood pressure like a PP, so it makes me feel quite unwell. Am also on (cancer) medication which means I feel the heat more. I've always known I dislike summer - and have realised it's summer SAD. Am quite depressed at the thought of more. At least can we have some rain!

I'm fine with cold weather, don't seem to feel it like some people do. Maybe they're lizards 😂😂

Bogstandardname · 09/08/2026 09:44

I hate the cold so I am loving this weather and the big bonus for me is getting the washing dry every day. Bit of a saddo I know but with two large loads every day, it makes life so much easier. Have a tumble dryer but loathe using it.

Purplecatshopaholic · 09/08/2026 09:46

If you fancy a house swap for a bit I’m your gal, lol. Central Scotland isn’t great weather just now and I love the heat!
Ps not being deliberately goady. I appreciate heat like England is experiencing is a real challenge as this country isn’t set up for it. We need longer term solutions if this is going to be the norm. I wish governments would take climate change seriously.
