Another heatwave coming.
Are we all ready for heatwave number 5.

It was about 15 degrees here. We had a week of warm Weather and that was it. No heatwave for me and im jealous of those who are complaining. I’d swap if I could.

Yep. Me too. Shitter than usual summer in NE Scotland. One day of 26 degrees and that's it.

Usually when it's in the 30s elsewhere we get around 25 but I think it's been stuck at 18 every bloody day.

TropicalFishAreTwats · 09/08/2026 07:12

I think I may actually have acclimatised to the heat now (pale, fat, middle aged woman!). I live in the NW and temperatures were only early twenties at their peak last week, setting off to work when it was only twelve degrees felt positively freezing!
I did invest in a Dyson fan for our bedroom (for the dogs, I was scared they would die in the heat!) and sleeping with that has been perfectly manageable.
I do think house prices in Scotland will rocket over the next few years as people from the South look to move....I do wonder if the North is suddenly going to be 'the place to be' for a change.

Bring it on!
Hotter the better, hope this time it’s hotter than the last few weeks!
Come 6pm there’s no sun in my garden and it’s cold!
I need it hot, hot, hot!!

I couldn't agree less.

limetrees32 · 09/08/2026 07:30

I don't like excessive heat and find blinding sun uncomfortable.
But i do rather like the long hot summer vibe.
BUT here in London the pavements are filthy and everywhere stinks.
All the pavements , roads and buildings retain the heat.
Any grass has long gone , the trees are turning yellow and dropping their leaves.
It's the dirt and smell i can't bear.
And shallow dishes i leave out with water are pooed in by Foxes.
And then host clouds of bluebottles.

LyndaSnellsSniff · 09/08/2026 07:30

There's no frickin' end in sight for us (Surrey). I have a horrible feeling we won't be able to light a bonfire on Bonfire Night due to fire risk. 🥵🔥

HRHCurmudgeon · 09/08/2026 07:31

Me! I am ADORING this weather. I hate being trussed up in jumpers and the concept of ‘snuggling’. I love being in shorts, vest tops and flip flops. Linen. Summer dresses. Sleeping in a thin, cotton nightdress.

Wonderful (apart from the fact the planet is dying).

Monvelo · 09/08/2026 07:31

I'm finding it very hard to tell whether I've started to get hot flushes, or if it's the weather!

SignsofLife · 09/08/2026 07:35

The difference between Scotland and England is vast. We are in Sussex at the moment. It's absolute bliss for me and like being in the S of France. In Scotland if feels like Winter is on its way. I prefer the heat. The parched grass and dying vegetation is really sad however.

Tinybirdie · 08/08/2026 23:03

Christ, come to Scotland. I've had my heating on in August!

This! I would love a bit of a heatwave!

HelloCheekyCat · 09/08/2026 07:37

I've liked the last couple of weeks because even though it's been mid-twenties during the day it's cool overnight so we can sleep. I can't stand it when the house is an oven upstairs
Even with 30\33 this week the low overnight is 17' so hopefully it'll feel cool with Windows open.
I'm only watering my lavender because it attracts bees & butterflies so the garden looks so dry ,& sad.
There's signs all round the office reminding people not to smoke on the grass, one rogue dog end & it would all go up!

Dontcallmescarface · 09/08/2026 07:37

I'd enjoy it more if I was on early shift this week, but sadly I'm on lates so will have to endure being on the factory floor where the temperature reached 34 degrees last time. I reckon the company's "wellbeing budget" has taken a hit with all the ice pops they've bought for us 😄

Myblueclematis · 09/08/2026 07:40

I'm a bit mixed, I don't like being cold and remembering the dreary, grey, wet miserable months we had before the weather improved, I wanted it to be a warm, sunny summer and hopefully into an Indian summer in September.

It has been too hot for me, I tend to sit indoors more with the heat we've had so much as I love to see blue skies, the sun and feel the warmth right into the late evening, I'd like it to not get above 22 deg. so it's more comfortable.

I do want it to rain badly though, I've not much left in the rain butt and the garden definitely needs a good soaking.

Marquee2go · 09/08/2026 07:41

Its 17 degrees and raining steadily where I am in Scotland at the moment. We had 2 weeks of no rain with the last heatwave and I got so much laundry done it was great! I do feel bad for the south though and the recent wildfires have been terrifying.

RampantIvy · 09/08/2026 07:42

I don't want autumn or winter, but I do want rain. We have a couple of days with a 29 degree forecast this week then it is going to cool down significantly, but still no sign of rain. Our reservoirs are low, but at nothing like the levels we had last year due to a wet winter and spring, so no hosepipe ban here (South Yorkshire) - yet.

The fields are yellow and parched and our firefighters are pulled out with all the grass fires they are dealing with.

I wish they could just throw all the arsonists into a big pit and let them stew.

TourdeCrema · 09/08/2026 07:46

I’m flying to Scotland tomorrow for 2/3 days so will return to 32 degrees

i need window film

RedRiverShore6 · 09/08/2026 07:47

I don't mind it, I seem to have acclimatised to it now

hattie43 · 09/08/2026 07:49

ready now I’ve had AC installed a month ago . Another week of 30 down here .

YouSawBrigadoon · 09/08/2026 07:49

We’re in the south east so we have had no real respite and it will therefore, be more of the same.

Luckily for us, we are absolutely loving it. Our barbecue has never been used so much 😊

seawitchandgarden2 · 09/08/2026 07:52

I am in the South East on the Kent coast and it seems to have been a never-ending heat wave for the past month!

I don't know how I would cope if I did not live by the sea.

Fiftyandme · 09/08/2026 07:52

No. I’m so done with this summer. It’s been hideous. Every fucking day over 20 degrees since late May with regularly over 25. It’s fucking torture. It’s rained once in the past six weeks here.

Poppycorn123 · 09/08/2026 07:58

Yes! This is probably the last hurrah before the doom and gloom of autumn/winter. For now I will continue sitting in the sun with a gin & salad in the evenings! 🍸

Headinthecloudsfeetontheground · 09/08/2026 08:00

I'm in the south of England and this heat genuinely makes me feel hideously unwell. I am constantly nauseous and dizzy: I have low blood pressure and volatile blood sugar levels at the best of times and apparently heat makes both much worse.

I get so tired of people not even trying to understand - I make every attempt to be gracious when others are depressed by the rain or cold in which I'm rejoicing. Unfortunately I have a boss who loves the heat; he mocks and ridicules me and humiliates me in front of colleagues. Not happy at the moment.

Summerlovingtheraspberries · 09/08/2026 08:03

Yes I am.
I have just bought a couple more cotton dresses.
I have to go into the office everyday and we have a dress code.
I’m loving it.
I love nothing more than walking out the door in a summer dress, sandals, and sunglasses. SPF 50 on my face, the rest of my body dozed in moisturiser and plenty of anti perspirant on.
I wear different clothes every day to stay fresh and get my washing out on the line so it’s dry in a couple of hours.
I have shade in my garden and water my plants once early morning.

DeathBanana · 09/08/2026 08:04

I’m in the love it camp but I’m deeply concerned about nature. There are no insects. Lots of blue bottles but I’m not seeing anything else. Even the car windscreen is totally bug free.

MrsClattenburg · 09/08/2026 08:06

I love it! 😍

Going for an early morning walk and it's warm, sitting in the garden until 10pm, wearing all the summer dresses I can only usually wear on holiday... yes, working in my garden office is awful by 2pm but I'll take that if it means we actually have a nice summer 😊
