I'm at that age. The age where people forget you exist. Men don't look at me when I pass by. No one lusts after me. I'm just another middle age woman. Desperate to be seen. Wanted. Desired.
Desperate for someone to see the beauty that used to be obvious. Desperate to have moments of passion.
Tragically invisible. Like a ghost but still living.

I’m at that age. The age where I get a tad irritated with people that start a thread and then don’t engage.

Your worth has very little to do with your looks

Not true (for women).

Not all women.

I have never been attractive but that doesn’t mean I’m worthless.

@Additup I don’t have ‘issues’ - I just think that women are conditioned to assign value to themselves based on their physical presentation and I think that it’s a little sad that people then feel worthless because they are no longer attractive.

Noodles1234 · 26/07/2026 05:40

you have two choices here.

  1. wait and hope men fancy you to feel justifiable in life and pin all your hopes on it.
  2. look around and see how others believe it in themselves, even women in their 80’s walk with an air of confidence that they are enough and look damn good.
in my view stop waiting on others to determine your happiness. Bit of bronzer and a new dress off Vinted and boom!

No. Do you realise that some of us never had the beauty in the first place? The advantage of that of course is that it’s not a shock to the system when we age because we aren’t losing anything we relied on to feel valuable in our youth.

I never relied on beauty in my youth but feel lucky that I know that experience, you do notice when you don’t attract the same attention anymore - it’s lessened for me at age 42 but not gone entirely!

No, but I’ve never really attracted attention in that way from strangers and wouldn’t have wanted to, so nothing has changed just because I’m pushing 60.

Me neither. What the OP describes is utterly alien to me. And sounds a tad narcissistic.

Justthethingsthatyoudointhisgarden · 26/07/2026 10:25

Seriously, this has got to be a piss take. I'm 60 and have men eye me up. I dress well and smile and laugh a lot.

I'm guessing it's a journalist researching an article.

BillieWiper · 26/07/2026 10:39

I'm glad I don't get attention from male strangers anymore. In fact I'm a lot more confident in my appearance now than when I was younger. Even though I looked much better then!

So you value passion? As in sex? Surely that’s still looking for validation as you can’t have that on your own

@Anarchy99

What a weird take.

She is in a relationship with her husband - a hopefully mutually loving relationship - what makes them being passionate (presumably in both directions ie him with her and her with him) mean that she is seeking validation?

What a weird thought process you have.

Mutually loving and respectful relationships can be incredibly fulfilling for both parties.

I realise that but it was in the context of the conversation I was having with that poster. Perhaps go back and read it before commenting.

TwinklyRoseTurtle · 26/07/2026 12:21

I’m glad men don’t really look at me anymore. I’ve also reached an age where I dress for myself and no one else, outfit repeat and don’t care it’s great

I did read all the prior posts, thank you, and your take is still weird to me.

I stand by my question - why on earth do you think that being in a mutually passionate relationship means the woman is "seeking validation"?

Then you misunderstood the point. Move on.

Are you actually coming back to the thread OP, or are we just wasting our sodding time?

So I was right then. OP has buggered off. Like I said, a total waste of time.

Why do you think those celebs have these weird face lifts and botox gone wrong. In pursuit of youth. You dont have to be young to be attractive.

TrailingPlant · Today 00:06

If this is the blurb for your novel of mid- life passion, I wouldn’t give up the day job, OP.
