@DuncinToffee I was just reading a post about the possible US angle. Very interesting.

It's a method Russia use with the Finland border.....

Roughly about 10,000 tourists from the UK land in Mallorca every day during the high season. Yearly it's about 2 million tourists.

Farage has got in on the act now. Unless we vote Reform the same will happen at Calais. This is a battle for the future of our civilisation etc.

How propaganda works.

In this "news report"

We find the following statement

Scientists also warn the UK is facing a growing risk of water shortages in the decades ahead, driven by human-caused climate change and increased demand.

However, it is selective. Since it omits the third factor that scientist noted which was the previous decades of underinvestment.

BBC Verify's analysis indicates “vegetation stress” in many areas, which may affect wildlife and farming.

I reckon there’s no coverage of the mayoral election because nobody wants there to be - Labour want people to forget they caused the expense, Farage is focussed on his bin fight and the other parties don't stand a chance anyway. The press have nobody prepared to talk to them.

Geopolitics and Security Studies Center analyst Dionis Cenusa: “…the bigger picture is a regional balancing act, while in practical terms, we are witnessing a clear case of hybrid warfare.

“In this instance, Spain is a target and the victim.”

Or just because nothing will "happen" in the same way as a by election count ?

Are they going to swim from Morocco to Calais?

Nasty little git he is. To let you know conditions are pretty appalling in Calais now - more so I mean with any facilities they have in camp being regularly destroyed or removed 😢

There was a really interesting documentary about Ceuta that I watched a few years back. I think it was Simon Reeve. The Spaniards thete still bull fight and really cling on to Spanish identity. It was a tough place. Nearly everyone Spanish there works for immigration in some way. Its basically a big prison. I seem to remember Reeve was uncomfortable there. Pretty sure Palin went too.

Well, the government has a seven page memo on devolution and England and... there is a lot in there!

Will add some thoughts, but the most striking thing is the pace. A lot of the serious reforms are due to come in April 2028 - this is not a gradual roadmap!

Good. Pace, momentum and dynamism is exactly what's needed to build on the 'Burnham Bounce' and to move on from Sir Keir Starmer.

Creates hope and optimism and a real sense that we will actually see/get some positive change.

If its the same one I watched. I hope so. I dont normally watch his stuff but it is the most likely by its programme description.

Don't give it time to go wrong.

Not so subtle hijacking of the narrative that we are "at war". Which may serve to undercut some of the drift towards extremism which is driven by a sense "nothing is being done".

Headline there seems to be the collapse of the Greens.

Is a falling tide exposing the more extreme ?

I think a lot of disaffected Labour voters drifted to the Greens in response to Labour not only apparently drifting right but also quite aggressively purging it's more left wing side. I don't think Labour have to become team Trotsky to win all those voters back, but losing the performative right wing pandering might be helping...

Agree. It is those voters Labour needs vack, not the Reform-inclined. That was one of Starmer's errors.

It's ironic because when the likes of Jenrick were in charge migration was at it's highest and the home office chaotic with hardly any asylum applications processed. But that wasn't a priority, painting over a mural for children was because at least that way they can show how tough on migration they are. And now he's in Reform...

To be fair, Kemi was looking a lot more appealing after she managed to get rid of Jenrick and his fellow travellers.

Predictably she managed to blow that. But it will help her successor.

But from focus groups etc the drift away from the Green Party started with Polanski's appointment as leader and has increased since - not really because of anything labour has done but only becoming relatively more attractive
