Morning all
Hope the wildfire is out soon @danglethedingle and anyone else affected, these wildfires are worrying. There was one a few weeks ago very close to my DSโ€™s flat but luckily they got it under control. Everywhere is just so dry and dead. ๐Ÿ˜•

Not a great night, still feeling exhausted despite resting lots ๐Ÿ™„ pain still high. Have put in an online consult to see if I can get some advice re pain relief as I canโ€™t take anti inflammatories which is precisely what I need. Hopefully wonโ€™t be weeks before an appointment! Have dug out the tens machine so maybe that will do something ๐Ÿคž

Friend coming over to our town today and wants to meet for coffee but Iโ€™m just not well enough. She gets it and DH will still meet up but would have liked to go. Ahh wellโ€ฆ Maybe next time.

I know! I haven't heard from a friend who got in touch a few months ago asking if she could stay in August and a huge part of me hopes her plans have changed. If she came today I'd be sitting propped up with my hot water bottle, can't walk many steps with the pain. I know there will be non stop talking, last time was over hour or so on the phone! She's lived abroad for decades so a lot to talk about too. So basically I am prepared just in case, but daren't remind her she wanted to come ๐Ÿ™„

Forgot to post that I finished the beast while my phone was out of action. I do rather love it โค๏ธ

What are you up to today if you have a chronic illness ๐Ÿงต10! Summer Edition ๐ŸŒž
danglethedingle · 10/08/2026 12:26

Thats really lovely @Swanhilde do you have a base for it already?

You have a great sense of colour @Swanhilde I love that!

TodayIsabetterone · 10/08/2026 12:33

Itโ€™s a hard one isnโ€™t @TeaAndStrumpets I hope you hear one way or another from your friend and the pain settles a bit before she does arrive.

I do enjoy seeing this friend and was due a catch up but she does talk a lot and I just know I canโ€™t right now. Itโ€™s really uncomfortable sitting upright so need this flare to ease off first. Iโ€™ve tentatively said maybe next week.

@Swanhilde I absolutely love that! Such beautiful colours ( the blue is my favourite!) Well done ๐Ÿ‘

Yes exactly. My plan is to have a bed ready and wait to be told. It may be a bit awful of me to think this but when she rang me out of the blue she was really dramatic and saying how I was her very best friend that she missed so much and I did wonder if she was a bit ๐Ÿท ๐ŸทIt's over 30 years since we've actually met, we were young mums together. But she did say we were all getting older (true) so it might be her last chance to reconnect with her old friends in the UK.

How strange that people say "sick as a dog" never "sick as a cat" but in my experience cats do more vomiting!

Hope Puss feels better soon!

I hope they perk up soon.

@TeaAndStrumpets very true, I was greeted by a pile of sick this morning ๐Ÿ˜พ

Having another very floppy, dizzy sort of day, had to drop out of a couple of work meetings early as I just felt too rough. Got counselling at 2 then I've said I'll just keep an eye on work emails, which I can do from my phone, lying down. I'm hoping a few days like this might get me back on track a bit.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 10/08/2026 13:50

@Swanhilde that's lovely.
@FuzzyPuffling hope puss is better soon.
@martha79 sounds like a plan.
@TodayIsabetterone fingers crossed for a meet up next time.

JewelleryCat · 10/08/2026 14:12

@Swanhilde that is beautiful and I hope cat is better soon @FuzzyPuffling

TodayIsabetterone · 10/08/2026 14:15

@TeaAndStrumpets Ahh yes phone calls after ๐Ÿท That makes sense why plans may be vague! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Hope Kitty perks up soon @FuzzyPuffling Always a worry when our pets are out of sorts.

Sounds like a good plan @martha79

TeaAndStrumpets · 10/08/2026 14:24

Just to be positive about the weather, I was reading that this summer has been fantastic for aerial archaeology. Lots of previously unknown features are showing up. I'm eagerly awaiting next season's Digging for Britain!

Yes I do @danglethedingle . But putting them together is DH's job ๐Ÿ˜†

Thank you everyone for the mosaic love ๐Ÿ’•

JewelleryCat · 10/08/2026 15:37

I canโ€™t remember who is was that liked More4 on Friday nights but theyโ€™ve started showing Carpe Diem, the first episode was on Friday and I found it really good

martha79 · 11/08/2026 10:09

Morning all, hope you're doing OK. I feel almost like a human today, albeit a tired one. Had a good counselling session yesterday and she challenged me to take some small steps to getting rid of/ saying no to things, so sent a few slightly tricky emails and felt better for it (though a little sad about a couple of them).

Had a couple of good chats with friends last night too - one did phone just after 9 and I nearly didn't answer because I was already in bed, but it was really nice to catch up.

Still trying to take it fairly easy today and not fall into the 'I feel better, let's do loads' trap. Plus it's already getting quite warm.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 11/08/2026 10:17

Morning.
If anyone is interested & has clear skies, tomorrow night there is a lunar eclipse, meteor shower & possible aurora borealis.

JewelleryCat · 11/08/2026 10:33

Thatโ€™s a lot of things happening tomorrow night @CoffeeBeansGalore

Iโ€™m hoping to see the eclipse if things happen that way and I do the colander trick because Iโ€™m not sure I have eclipse glasses. Iโ€™d love to see the meteor shower but Iโ€™m not sure when that will be happening and the northern lights are just magical

CoffeeBeansGalore · 11/08/2026 10:42

@JewelleryCat the meteor shower will be visible when dark. You should be able to see it for most of the night. Apologies, just realised I said lunar instead of solar ๐Ÿ™„.

MewithME · 11/08/2026 11:19

Morning all. DS will be with his Dad for the eclipse so I will have to remind them and also remind them how to do the collander thing. Or else he can make a pint hole projector thing and take it.

I'm still absolutely wiped out from holiday. About to go do some laundry but will rest again after.

This week is just going to be a write off but I'm ok with that.

OP posts:
FuzzyPuffling · 11/08/2026 11:47

Morning all.
Fuzzycat is feeling rather better. I think she's just too hot. She's back under our bed and dosed up on fresh catnip.

I have had a quick burst of useful energy...dusted and hoovered the sitting room and music room, cleaned the downstairs loo, sawed up a sizeable log (that I foraged on the way back from church on Sunday) and reset the tyre pressure sensor on my car. Later I have to go and feed DD2s cat...she and her DH are having a night away in St Ives, whike I look after the cat, and DD1 has her two children. I've got the better deal!

Time for a lie down.

Royal museums Greenwich says the best time to see them could be between midnight and 5.30am when Iโ€™m asleep lol. Iโ€™ll try and remember to look out before I go to sleep though

TeaAndStrumpets · 11/08/2026 12:10

Not morning quite so afternoon all!

Lazy day here, can't stand for long without setting off my stomach pain. I did a very superficial clean of the bathtub which I immediately regretted! We never use it so it's just dusty, but it looks better for the odd swill round.

I've been getting rid of cupboard contents, all the stuff given to us by mother in law years ago and never used! Mostly cutlery and so on, she was very keen on buying that sort of thing so we would get given loads every Christmas. All gone to DD1 who entertains a lot. I found a set of Victorian custard cups which obviously we've never used! No wonder there was no storage in the kitchen, it was full of unwanted gifts. How ungrateful of me!

TodayIsabetterone · 11/08/2026 12:48

Afternoon all,
Waiting on GP to call today over this pain flare up so impressed the surgery acted quickly. Hope he can offer some suggestions for pain relief.

Well done on your cupboard sorting @TeaAndStrumpets
Some de cluttering going on here too as DDโ€™s room is being decorated soon as sheโ€™s off to Scotland to visit DS next week so a neighbour/ decorator will paint it while sheโ€™s away. Sheโ€™s sorting through a lot of stuff which needs doing but the selling pile is being dumped in my room and the charity pile in the hall so feels like clutter everywhere which I donโ€™t do well with as DH is still gradually de cluttering our pile of doom too. Especially hard as I canโ€™t help with this painful arm/ shoulder.

Poor girl has her driving test today ๐Ÿคž and A level results on Thursday so itโ€™s a bit of a nerve wracking week. She failed her first driving test in June which really upset her as it was a very last minute mistake so I think she feels the pressure is on today. Iโ€™m nervous for her but trying to be outwardly calm and confident!

Wow @FuzzyPuffling you have been busy! Glad fuzzycat is better.

Definitely okay to have a slow week @MewithME you need recovery time.

I love things like the eclipse @CoffeeBeansGalore & @JewelleryCat though never manage to see a lot despite peering hopefully at the skies.

Glad today is a little better @martha79 but yes itโ€™s easy to fall into the โ€˜I feel betterโ€™ trapโ€ฆ I do it every time despite so many years of ME. ๐Ÿ™„
