Ahh i feel for you @TeaAndStrumpets though mismatched China is making a comeback so youโ€™ll be in vogue! ๐Ÿ˜œ
Itโ€™s probably not worth the negotiations and let DH crack on with the packing.

Feels hotter here today! Think the forecast is 27!

Gosh that's hot!

Well there is plenty of eaves storage in the new house so luckily a lot of our surplus stuff can go in there still boxed! We have sets of naice crystal glasses and silver cutlery bought for us by MIL. Nobody wants it! We only use stainless. But still we keep it, all in the original boxes.Tea cups will gradually be reduced in daily use!

It's just not worth arguing about.

Look at this lovely moth that was in my garden this morning.

Morning.
Cool & damp here. Drizzle in the wind & 15โฐc.
Actually got more than 2 hrs sleep which was nice.

Ooh beautiful! You were lucky to catch it before it fluttered away.

@CoffeeBeansGalore glad you got some sleep! Hope it's a good sign.

Thinking about cutlery today, I had a childhood memory pop up, haven't thought about it for years.

My infant and primary school was pretty big and in a deprived area. When we had the school Christmas party we were asked to bring our own knife fork and spoon, labelled with our name. Can't remember if we took any bowls...maybe not safe for little ones! I just remember my name written on a slip of paper wrapped round the handle with sellotape! I don't know why we didn't use spoons from the kitchens/dining hall. Maybe it was to save washing up!

Oh yes! Exactly the same here. You'd write your name on a bit of elastoplast stuck to the bottom of your jelly bowl!

Thank you! I just couldn't quite remember the bowl but that sounds about right.

Sometimes I've revealed bits from my prehistoric youth but I don't think I've told DDs about having named spoons! I suppose it's the poor child's monogram!

We were 40+ to a class in prefab buildings, those were the days!

Us too...46 kids in my junior school class. We all managed to behave quite well, and three of us got scholarships to the fee paying posh school.

Two of us passed the 11+, me and my Nemesis with whom I jostled for top or second every year. She went to the girls' grammar school, I got offered a scholarship to a very select convent school which my parents thought would be wonderfuI for me. I really didn't fit in, it was so select they didn't actually do O levels so I ended up going to tech college to get Os and As. My poor parents had no idea about qualifications. The uniform list alone nearly broke them. 'Napkin ring and napkin' of which we had none. Mum went and asked the priest's housekeeper who kindly found her one of each!

FuzzyPuffling · 03/08/2026 14:09

Oh, Tea you sound just like me.
I hated the posh school: the mean girls hated me! I was ok once I got to the 6th form but miserable before that.
Yes to the uniform list...a Harris tweed coat, Green Flash tennis shoes and a white tennis dress....loads of things that cost a fortune and were quite outside my experience!
I didn't tell my parents the PE teacher wanted me to have a pair of spikes ( running shoes)...too costly.

It was an education in itself! I had never met people like that and without being mean they weren't very bright. But very very snobby.

JewelleryCat · 03/08/2026 14:33

@martha79 at least itโ€™s a different van to me lol

martha79 · 03/08/2026 14:53

I must say Matthew in the plum van was very nice, offered to carry things upstairs for me.

Work is going OK, I've deleted all the nonsense emails and flagged the ones I need to do something with. Could do with a nap now!

martha79 · 03/08/2026 14:55

Edit - grr using wobbly mobile data keeps posting things twice!

Oioiqueen · 03/08/2026 14:59

@martha79 yay to Matthew being helpful but he needs to mix up the fruit on his van!

JewelleryCat · 03/08/2026 14:59

Ocado is lovely like that. If you need help with putting things upstairs, you can add it to the notes

Yes! Excellent news re my latest scan for cardiac issues and measurements are stable! ๐Ÿ‘ They'll repeat in 2 years. Iโ€™m feeling incredibly relieved. The registrar I saw in June really had me worried with some of his observations so this really is good news. I can put surgery out of my head for another few years at least. ๐Ÿ™Œ

This is my daily dose of good news! So glad it went well for you @TodayIsabetterone

TodayIsabetterone · 03/08/2026 16:21

Thanks @FuzzyPuffling @Dozymoo42 and
@TeaAndStrumpets it really is. Been trying not to think about it but didn't have a good feeling this time I think especially given some of my symptoms this year.

Weโ€™ve decided to aim for a short cruise again next year now Iโ€™ve got the all clear. Currently got a discount for one and an insurance discount so be rude not to use it! After the year weโ€™ve had, weโ€™re in โ€˜ Sod it, lifeโ€™s too shortโ€™ mode! Have to do what I can, while I still can.

martha79 · 03/08/2026 16:38

Really pleased to hear that @TodayIsabetterone

JewelleryCat · 03/08/2026 16:39

Thatโ€™s such good news @TodayIsabetterone
