Ahh glad DS had a fab day ๐ŸŽ‚ @MewithME and hope you can enjoy the holiday once youre there. I always feel that way before I travel anywhere but once I arrive and recover from the journey, itโ€™s always fine!

Our house is in need of TLC so I get the frustration of never having the spare energy to tackle anything other than the basics. We were saying yesterday, we need to make a list and prioritise whatโ€™s urgent or doable probably starting with the downstairs bathroom that has had a broken tap since before my stroke. My lovely gran used to sayโ€ฆ whatโ€™s bothering you the most and start there so DH has now ordered the new taps at least, I may need to chivvy him into doing it. Weโ€™re having visitors staying in October so might need to give him a list! Hard as he has long covid too so neither of us are fit and healthy!

@TeaAndStrumpets we have a lovely dog walking area literally on our doorstep that I can scoot to but I canโ€™t let her off lead due to her reactivity as if she sees another dog or even person walking by, she barks and loudly! So the dog fields are a fabulous idea, especially for reactive rescues! Itโ€™s lovely that she can run around with no worry of another off lead dog suddenly appearing! This is in a forest location so a lot to explore. She absolutely loves it and itโ€™s nice change for us. Benches in there so I can sit too. Going to try and make it a regular event. She was worn out and slept all afternoon as did I!

I currently feel like never moving again @MewithME - but at least if I do there will be a lot less stuff to sort through.

Have done a little bit of moving stuff just to make more space, and worked out how to use the washing machine. Ordered some storage shelf/ trolley things for the bathroom. Currently browsing Ocado as they do the cat litter and olive oil I like... I wonder what van I'll get!

TeaAndStrumpets · 31/07/2026 13:08

@TodayIsabetterone I am drowning in lists! Unfortunately I tend to lose track of them. It's awful when both of you are out of action, and frustrating when you could have done it very easily a few years ago. I feel so guilty relying on DH, and he has limited mobility due to a bad hip.He just carries on regardless, but I notice he's limping badly at the end of the day. If I try to do anything in the kitchen I get shooed away, it'd difficult.

Hope you get your taps!

TodayIsabetterone · 31/07/2026 15:10

Aw bless your DH @TeaAndStrumpets as you say itโ€™s not easy.
I get shooed out of the kitchen by DH too ๐Ÿ˜Š though often by my DD as she does like to cook which is helpful if weโ€™re both shattered. Unfortunately sheโ€™s less helpful at clearing up but canโ€™t have everything! ๐Ÿ˜‚

DH should be okay to fit the taps at least. Some jobs we need to get people in ( flooring mostly) which is always harder to organise so thought Iโ€™d start with list with something doable!

Just had my mum visit this morning. She doesnโ€™t always feel up to driving over so it was nice she felt able to today. DH made us all lunch and dippy dog behaved so a successful visit.

Rest time now ๐Ÿ˜Š
Have a good weekend everyone

TodayIsabetterone · 31/07/2026 15:29

Let us know what van you get @martha79 Im invested! Always Plum here. My neighbour had an Ocado shop last week and DH was laughing at me peering out of an upstairs window just so I could see if they had a different van ๐Ÿ˜‚ sadly it was plum too!

JewelleryCat · 31/07/2026 15:42

Letโ€™s hope itโ€™s a different van to the cherry one I always seem to get!

danglethedingle · 31/07/2026 15:45

Caught up with you all, DS3 has gone home, it was lovely to see him. Even though he is the quietest of the bunch, and the least bother to feed and entertain, I am still exhausted. Going to have a few quiet ones I think to recover.

@martha79 well done for getting it all done, and good luck in your new home, I hope you will be very happy in it.

I have grown to quite like our ugly old lump of a house, I can safely say its unique, and it can house the whole tribe at a pinch. Although DS did say it was nice to have an actual bedroom this visit, rather than the sofa bed in my little sewing room he got lumbered with last time they all came. I don't really hanker to move. But I still regularly peruse Rightmove, I think I might have a mild addiction to property listings.

Oioiqueen · 31/07/2026 15:59

@TodayIsabetterone we need to hear more of the van varieties. We only have plum here, I'm always so disappointed

TodayIsabetterone · 31/07/2026 16:08

I love browsing right move too @danglethedingle
Weโ€™ve been in our house almost 25 years!! I do love it, love the location and the garden and itโ€™s full of memories of my kids and pets! I just wish the decorating/ decluttering fairy would wave her magic wand and update it a little ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

@Oioiqueen plum too?! Maybe youre my neighbour i was spying on ๐Ÿ˜‚I think I once had raspberry but beginning to think I dreamed that!

Oioiqueen · 31/07/2026 16:51

@TodayIsabetterone not me I'm afraid, I'm not posh enough for Ocado!

CoffeeBeansGalore · 31/07/2026 17:08

If you really want some property porn ahead of the lottery draw, rake a look at Country Life property pages. Some absolute stunners on there.

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
I discovered Ocado when on a low carb diet as they do sell some wraps and crackers I couldnโ€™t get anywhere else! Use it now and then when I fancy a few treats or some M & S ready meals for ease. Same with Waitrose but then DH does regular trips to Lidl and home bargains so weโ€™re an anomaly re shop loyalty ๐Ÿ˜‚

FuzzyPuffling · 31/07/2026 19:01

I used to use Ocado a lot, then I moved to Cornwall, where there is no Ocado.
I could try again....
( But I live round the corner from a big Morrisons...)

TeaAndStrumpets · 31/07/2026 19:43

We went to Waitrose during lockdown for delivery and realised how much time it saved! Tried Ocado but had some horrible meat from there and it really put me off. Maybe unlucky there.

I struggled for two hours to make some address cards on Vistaprint. Gave in and got DH to do it, annoyingly he got it perfect in no time! I had to buy loads, I have told DH whichever one of us dies first can be crossed out in Biro ๐Ÿ˜

martha79 · 01/08/2026 09:51

I think I last did Ocado in lockdown - I remember having a week off work and since I couldn't go anywhere I ordered a load of really nice ready meals and snacks to avoid cooking for the week ๐Ÿคฃ

The tiredness has really kicked in now that the big push of moving is done. I've got some storage units for the bathroom arriving today and will sort those out but otherwise I think I'm just taking it easy for the weekend. I'm looking forward to Monday night when the bins go out as it's paper/ cardboard week and I can get rid of a load of empty boxes and make some space!

I'm not surprised you're tired! Yes just getting the boxes flattened and ready for collection is a job in itself. Everything we buy seems to be so tightly packed, and good luck if you want to put it back in the box!

FuzzyPuffling · 01/08/2026 10:34

A weekend of rest and reflection sounds perfect @martha79. You can always plan for your next surge of energy!

Dozymoo42 · 01/08/2026 10:50

Morning all! Happy weekend ๐Ÿ˜Š

Sounds like a restful weekend is on the cards @martha79 very well deserved!

Not sure what Iโ€™m doing this weekend am pottering around the house today and might start one of my paint by numbers later. Am trialling a bit of a new routine of day of doing and then day of resting to see if that helps my pacing any ๐Ÿคž

Yes, currently lying in bed (on mattress) making lists and ordering things. Most excited about new microwave coming on Monday - spent ages looking for a good small one.

TodayIsabetterone · 01/08/2026 11:46

Youโ€™ve done so well @martha79 I imagine there was some adrenaline helping you make that final push so definitely give yourself some rest and recovery time. Itโ€™s hard when everything is staring at you but thereโ€™s really no rush.

A slow one here today, woken up with a really painful shoulder again. Hoping it settles but glad Iโ€™ve got the osteopath this week as had a couple of times where itโ€™s gone into spasm again.

We do need to do the boring job of sorting our freezer as we are storing some stuff in MILs freezer and she wants the space back which is totally fair enough. I was hoping to pop over with DH and pick that up today as she goes away tomorrow but otherwise I think it will have to be a rest day.

FuzzyPuffling · 01/08/2026 12:15

I've just had a new dress delivered. I love it!

danglethedingle · 01/08/2026 14:31

@FuzzyPuffling ooh lovely, is it for anything special?

Feeling ok, but very tired and achy, just did an online Morrisons shop. I cannot face in person shopping today, and I don't suppose tommow will be any better. Any energy I do have, I'd rather spend on something I want to do.

We are having home grown runner beans with our dinner tonight, really looking forward to them.

FuzzyPuffling · 01/08/2026 14:36

Nothing special, but I've had my eye on it for some time and it was half price in the sale!
100% cotton, hippyish, free-flowing.. Perfect for hot weather, so that will make it rain!

danglethedingle · 01/08/2026 14:45

I'm glad its as nice as you thought it would be, I hate it when you order something that looks lovely, but then the fabric is itchy or too see through or something. So disapointing.

TeaAndStrumpets · 01/08/2026 15:06

I did a bit of clearing up in the kitchen then needed to 'rest my eyes' for an hour. Woke up when dd2 rang up for a chat. They are coming down in a few weeks and she is promising to finally clear out her old bedroom! I'll believe it when I see it.
I told DH we should start going through the kitchen cupboards, unfortunately while I was asleep he has started to wrap everything and I suspect a lot of it should have just been dumped ๐Ÿ™„ Now it's boxed up it will have to be sorted the other end, just what I was trying to avoid. He is not good with de cluttering, always thinks we should keep things forever just in case. Oh well, it was a nice sleep!
