Well done @martha79 . Nearly there!

Probably not the first thing you think of in this weather, but I was looking for a warm zip up hoodie ready for when the weather turns. Found a gorgeous one on sale from Heat Holders. Soft velvety fleece, light weight but will be lovely & warm. One of the reviews described it as wearing a hug. Arrived this morning. Absolutely delighted with it.

You are very wise to plan ahead. When it's freezing this winter you'll be snug and smug when they are back to full price!

My Christmas cards have arrived, really nice charity ones I buy every year. It is shocking how much it costs to post them. I was thinking if I send them really early in November I can include address change info. DD2 who has moved many times advised not to write the new address inside the card because people will accidentally recycle it!

Next idea is to just get some business cards printed and jot the moving date on the back. Now to order some online...I looked at a few sites and they ask me to upload files, artworks etc...help!! My final brilliant idea is to get a teenager to do it for me ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

ValleyClouds · 29/07/2026 17:34

I stopped doing Christmas Cards for that reason @TeaAndStrumpetsI do a card for the few Christians I know and thatโ€™s the lot!

Iโ€™ve just made a Chili and now Iโ€™ve lost all interest in eating it <typical>

Well I know but DH has a huge list of people and insists!

You know what they say ; if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen ๐Ÿ˜Š

I could happily just live on tea when it's like this!

TeaAndStrumpets · 29/07/2026 18:19

I'm sure my feet are starting to swell again, they feel prickly. I've got thin cotton socks on, mad I know, but my felt slippers are so very comfy I wear them even in the heat. I just think if I remove the socks all the fluid will rush down my legs and balloon round my ankle . Either that or the elastic in my socks will snap under the strain ๐Ÿ˜‚

martha79 · 29/07/2026 20:15

Oh your poor feet @TeaAndStrumpets, hope they calm down.

Having sung the praises of the sofa bed, I think the removal men haven't quite put it back together properly as I can't get the bed bit to pull out (not the bed's fault though, I think the two bits just aren't quite sitting right together). I haven't got the energy or brain power left to figure it out tonight so I'll be sleeping a bit curled up - just as well I'm short!

Anyway, am here. Cats are here and exploring. Had KFC for tea with friend who gave me a lidt over. Then I've had a bath - not a very warm or long one but I feel better for it. Don't have any curtains at the moment so I may have briefly flashed the neighbours ๐Ÿคฃ

Edited - accidental double post

TeaAndStrumpets · 29/07/2026 20:26

Glad you made it! There's probably a youtube troubleshooting video somewhere, but it's far too hot to adjust your bed tonight!

TodayIsabetterone · 29/07/2026 20:28

Yay ๐Ÿฅณ You made it!
Happy first night to you and the cats in the new flat @martha79

Happy new house!

CoffeeBeansGalore · 29/07/2026 20:48

Echoing the others - hope you will be happy in your new home โค๏ธ

Dozymoo42 · 29/07/2026 21:38

Happy new home day! @martha79 ๐Ÿ˜Š

JewelleryCat · 30/07/2026 08:31

How was it in the new home last night @martha79?

How is everyone this morning? Itโ€™s still far too hot to do anything, bring on cooler weather and hopefully rain

A bit restless, but OK. I really must get curtains sorted though!

Currently got someone in changing my electricity meter to a smart one, and my mattress is due to arrive at some point today. Got a friend ready to do the final carload later but that depends on the mattress delivery time so may need to pick stuff up at the weekend instead. Going to try to unpack books today so that I don't have that mountain of boxes in the living room.

Sending you all cooling breezes, it's better here today - only 21-ish.

TodayIsabetterone · 30/07/2026 09:00

Morning all, hope everyone is doing okay. I slept well and feel a bit brighter today, well so far anyway! It feels a little fresher here but that could be as DH forgot to close some of the downstairs windows last night so theyโ€™ve been wide open! ๐Ÿ™„ The house feels cooler though and we havenโ€™t been burgled so Iโ€™ll let him off!

We've booked the dog field for this morning which Iโ€™ve been wanting to do for ages so looking forward to that. Itโ€™s in a forest area so nice and shady. Will probably grab a takeaway coffee on the way and sit at the bench while dippy dog can explore hopefully without other dogs nearby to set her off! Then calling in on my MIL as dog park is close to her village.

Have a good day everyone ๐Ÿ˜Š

CoffeeBeansGalore · 30/07/2026 09:03

Morning all.
Bright & cool atm. A lot of rain overnight but lovely & sunny now. Birds are having a rave!

JewelleryCat · 30/07/2026 09:15

@martha79 youโ€™ll feel restless until youโ€™re properly settled in. Hopefully this friend can sort the sofa bed for you, make sure it slots into place again and 21 sounds fabulous with a cool breeze

ValleyClouds · 30/07/2026 09:24

Morning

@CoffeeBeansGalore i
I have a couple of 'borg' jumpers that I wear around the house during winter. My kids call them my best jumpers because they are so thick.

I have a heavy cashmere cardigan I bought on eBay, a fiver because nobody else bid and it had a few moth holes. I don't sew any more but I can darn, so I darned the hole near the hem, turned back the cuffs to conceal another hole (short arms!) and changed the buttons from gold ugh! It is really big on me and I suppose you would call it boyfriend style, but it is SO warm it gets piled on top of all the other layers. Unfortunately it is that pale tuquoise/mint colour I remember from Tampax boxes but comfort comes first!!

FuzzyPuffling · 30/07/2026 10:10

RAIN!!!
Well almost...a kind of damp mist really. But better than the nothing we have had for weeks.

TeaAndStrumpets · 30/07/2026 10:25

Hope your flat feels like home now you've woken up there @martha79

Any sign of the neighbours yet?

It is definitely much better. I've hardly worn my new specs the last few weeks because they've been steaming up and sliding down my nose!

FuzzyPuffling · 30/07/2026 10:48

@martha79 I love a new home...all those choices to explore and make it just as you want. Exciting!
