Are you watching England V France tonight?

OP posts:

Two up now. If anyone said a couple of weeks ago we would be 2-0 up to France,we’d be dancing in the streets.

countrylife00 · 18/07/2026 22:25

This is a proper football game.
Two sides playing fairly, without trying to cheat with punches and pulling players down.
Everytime we ran with the ball, the Argentinians slapped us down.
France are playing their top team and we are doing great so far.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

France aren't that bothered either... apparently.

Of course they are. They are playing their top team.

It’s like when the pressure is off, England can drop their best players, and play good football.

To anyone who is still wondering why people don’t like the English, this thread is a good example. Acting like the 3rd place play off is beneath you when so many countries would be delighted to be there. Do you also think it’s meaningless and pointless for athletes to compete in other competitions when they’ve no chance to win? Like friendlies shouldn’t be played because there’s nothing at stake there either? If I was a footballer, I would be happy to have the chance to end the campaign on a win. Unless you think you can’t, which means it’s just sour grapes.

Are they? They made 7 changes as well didn't they? I know Mbappe and Olise are still there, but even so.

Emiliana52 · 18/07/2026 22:34

Boycotting the whole sorry affair. All about making money. FIFA have destroyed it with their greed.

BrendaSmall · 18/07/2026 22:37

No!
Not watched one match so definitely won’t be watching this one!
My husband is really into football and he’s not watched one match either!

Middlemarch123 · 18/07/2026 22:38

We’re three nil up! Against France, and we’re not playing our best players. Proud of our boys.

Because if your husband loved football why would he not want to watch his team?
That does not suggest he even likes the game?

TheDogsMother · 18/07/2026 22:46

This match is amazing !

TulipsMakeMeHappy · 18/07/2026 22:47

Oh, If only this were the final!

KillingEvesbestmate · 18/07/2026 17:21

No. The players have said they dont want to do.it. Thomas has said he doesn't want to do.it. It is just so Fifa can get more revenue out of it.

Even more impressive how well they’re playing.

Middlemarch123 · 18/07/2026 22:48

4 bloody nil against France. I’ll take that. Thank you England

SpaceCat87 · 18/07/2026 14:28

Reluctantly, yes. I find the third place concept a bit depressing and cringey though.

Why? The team should always strive. Be the best they can. Zero cringe in that. It’s professionalism.

That’s what they will say.
we would have beaten Argentina had they let us actually play a game.

Brilliant game tonight but still sad about the last one. Different choices by Tuchel would have helped.

Well, that’s their problem. England are playing an international game of football, and professional teams play to win. France can play or not. England are winning a one off game like it should be played.

The final will be interesting then. I am going to a friend’s house for a football WC final party. Do I take Argentine wine and jerky or Spanish wine and tapas?
