If it isn't something to do with trans rage and that hideous 'bash back" website, I'll be surprised.

This was my thoughts from the very beginning. This whole pandering to the trans nonsense of the last decade or so is creating a generation of entitled nutjobs.

Just another total Herbert. Ignore.

Is a total Herbert the same thing as my father would have called 'a right Herbert'? It's so many years since I heard that expression.

I very much doubt it.

Yes it is.
Was your father Northern by any chance as that is where I know it from.
Although in this case I wouldn’t call this freak a Herbert but an utter freak.

12234m · 13/07/2026 22:09

Total Herbert = daft idiot, a bit of a wally. Not at all like a murderer..

They found Communist literature in the house of the suspect so not an Incel. Police believe the attack was political. I bet he blames his own failures in the system. His mental disease was the awful ideology he was fed.

DeanElderberry · 14/07/2026 08:11

I saw a link elsewhere to a short clip posted on X not long before she was attacked that not only showed her house and its setting but also lingered on the front door lock.

Things best not shown the whole world.

Poor Ann.

I wrote a post about Heather Herbert, who had made an early comment about Ann Widdecombe's death. A poster more or less told me to ignore H H's stuff and used a term which included the word Herbert. I picked it up. I de-railed in a way, and we have had a little side-conversation about the terms, total Herbert, right Herbert. I don't think Heather Herbert of Aberdeen University is a murderer but I do think he sounds like a very unpleasant piece of work, as well as being a right Herbert, a prat and a half, a total dickhead et cetera.
I was wishing I could pronounce a deuteronomic curse on HH, without wishing him physical pain. I expect Ann Widdecombe would know that the book of Deuteronomy is in the Old Testament. So, I hereby pronounce a curse on HH. I hope his crops fail and I hope his flocks die, or the modern equivalent.

Why does that mean not an Incel? Russian communist literature, apparently.

Eta: only the Mail is reporting the Russian communist literature...

I am really sad about this. Such a waste, she had many more years, you might not agree with her but we actually do need intelligent people who we don't agree with who are willing to debate and discuss. And she loved cats 🐈 ❤️

She wasn't intelligent she was simply a bigot and religious zealot with seriously warped views. But murdered is not how anyone especially an old lady should end

You are offensive as well as incorrect in your views of her. Reported.

It’s not a crime to possess Russian communist literature. Not my area of interest, but people read all sorts of boring stuff. There will be forensic experts who can work out if it’s linked to a crime.

Indeed. But there is so much desperation for this to be a crime that can be pinned on the "left" any slight hint is pounced on.

That is true but it’s not an offence - as far as I know - to possess Nazi literature - but it arouses suspicion.

Yes, in the same way that other people are desperate to assign other crimes to the “far right”.

The polarisation of society is a fucking curse on our communities, and for the people who get sucked into their own little bubbles, it’s killed off any shred of humanity or empathy for other people.
I’m so sick of it all.

So arrogant. Just because you don’t agree with an opinion doesn’t make it warped. And it certainly doesn’t mean that the opinion holder either lacks intelligence or is a bigoted zealot.

WTF is wrong with people?

I personally haven't done that so no need to have a go. I am very sorry for what happened to AW. It is a horrible sensless murder and a terrible way for anyone's life to end.

Some awful views, really bad. The Heather man, Adam Boulton, a left activist on TV saying many won’t mourn her.

Horrible people.

I'm talking about the meaning, not a specific person.

'Herbert' used to just mean 'a wally', as in 'you daft Herbert', but more recently it is also used to mean 'pervert', after the paedophile character in 'Family Guy': https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herbert_(Family_Guy)

I’m sorry if it sounded like I was having a go at you.

I meant to agree with you and was continuing on with that thought, I just didn’t express myself well.
