Hannah herbert is now a member of the green party, the he/she is a vile disgusting individual, and no matter what my feelings about the LGBT are it is not a very good signal, they are entitled to freedom of speech, but this heather herbert has crossed the line and should now be charged with hate crime. Also be thrown out of the green party and ostracised from Aberdeen University.

Lins77 · Yesterday 17:14

The police have apparently said there is no criminality - which is unfortunate, but I suppose you can't "hate crime" somebody who's already dead. Aberdeen University have said they are "reviewing the comments" which (obviously) do not reflect the view of the university.

There's been some local and national press coverage, which mostly - from what I've seen - refers to Herbert as "she" and doesn't acknowledge the trans status.

adragoncalledaudrey · Yesterday 17:27

There may well be no criminal content.

I wonder if it would be the same if this incident had happened to the comment maker and others said the same phrases regarding their demise?

I don’t think a woman would ever write that about another woman found dead in her home. I’m pretty sure a woman would not try to brush off their comments as justified, for whatever reason, and double down as events unfolded. Heather chose to be Heather.

Despite protestations - “I posted that before the murder investigation was launched,” I wonder why they chose the phrases they did if they thought it was a natural death.

No-one in the safe confines of their own home deserves a death in fear or pain. Woman or man. Do people really look at these types of crime and then race to find excuses to find this ok? Do they also find justification for all crimes against the more vulnerable members of society?

If someone thinks that public statement was ok and that they should have endured a death like that? They are entitled to their thoughts but should have the common sense and decency to keep their justifications to themselves.

Most people are decent enough to find it hateful.

No one demands that they grieve or even have nice words to say. But to justify it? Where does that stop?

Their skirt was too short? They were the wrong colour/class/religion? The wrong sex?

adragoncalledaudrey · Yesterday 17:40

And I should have added that, once again, those who make such a case for wishing to be accepted do not seem to care about the injustices and horrors that women face.

Lins77 · Yesterday 17:53

Hopefully HH loses their job, and I don't say that lightly - I'd rarely wish that on someone, but in this instance I think it's justified.

For me, I could potentially be struck off my professional register for such a comment. I believe HH is a web developer or similar so that probably doesn't apply.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · Yesterday 19:50

I will admit I was absolutely astounded to discover HH is employed. I assumed he was in the same position as Sophie Sparkles, viz, living on disability benefits.

adragoncalledaudrey · Yesterday 19:57

I’ve heard that the sparkly one is currently undertaking a walk (sponsored?) to assist the heathery one in some way.

I wonder if the same folk supporting the despicable things that were said are contributing.

I will not be.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · Yesterday 20:54

Yes, I saw that. Eyebrows were raised because SS has put a lot of personal information onto social media, including claiming that the benefits award was because SS has mobility issues. Then SS claims to have walked 16 miles in a day to raise sponsorship for private surgery for HH to have a kidney removed.

Who would drive 300 mile round trip from Rotherham to kill a random old lady?

Who says that's what happened? He was arrested there. Nobody has said he lives there.

It was reported earlier that he was seen on cctv that morning in Yorkshire getting into a car with a wooden pole. He then had clearly returned there. Over 600mile round trip.

Jesus, poor Ann. She must have been terrified.

Surely unlikely to be a burglary with such a huge distance between them.

He might have tried to get far away from the scene of the crime?

An activist, lying on the floor of a disabled loo, with his head near a piece of fluttered-down lavatory paper, filming himself. Choice. I live and learn. Is he a Green now?
I don't want to wish him physical pain, but I would like to pronounce a deuteronomic curse upon him, if I could think of one.

Just another total Herbert. Ignore.

I’ve been reading about the man who the police have arrested in Rotherham.
It’s all so sad and just awful.
What would make someone do such a thing I’ve no idea at all. It is completely shocking.
There are some seriously deranged people around.

EwwStew · Today 07:05

Apparently the suspect was a complete loner. His neighbours say he never left his house, to the point that weeds were growing on his car.

Then one day he left at 8am, carrying a stick, on a nearly 600 mile round trip, to go directly to Ann's house and murder her.

Not politically motivated my arse. At the very least radicalised by bluesky lunatics.

Seriestwo · Today 09:19

i hope her faith brought her comfort if she realised what was happening. It’s so awful

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · Today 09:34

I stand corrected, then. He really did make a special trip there. How very odd. If he is charged and mentally fit enough to stand trial I hope we will find out then what has led to this. Just awful.

Statement from Counter Terrorism Police South East (CTPSE)

Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) can confirm it is now leading the investigation into the death of Ann Widdecombe.

Specialist officers from across the CTP network have been working alongside colleagues in Devon and Cornwall Police since a murder investigation was launched last week.

Officers were called to Miss Widdecombe’s home at Haytor, Devon, by the ambulance service at around 11.40am on Thursday 9 July.

Sadly, 78-year-old Miss Widdecombe was located deceased within the property. She had sustained serious injuries.

A 28-year-old white British man from Rotherham, South Yorkshire, was arrested on suspicion of murder on Saturday 11 July.

New information and evidence has come to light during what has been a dynamic and complex investigation and as a result, Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) is now leading the investigation.

The man in custody has since been re-arrested on suspicion of commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.

CTPSE will continue to work closely with colleagues from the Devon and Cornwall Police Major Crime Investigation Team and across the Counter Terrorism Policing network in an effort to establish the full circumstances of the incident which led to this murder investigation.

Head of National Counter Terrorism Policing, Laurence Taylor, said: “Building on the progress made by our colleagues in Devon and Cornwall Police, we now have new information and evidence that means Counter Terrorism Policing is now leading the investigation.

“We are pursuing multiple lines of enquiry to establish the motivation for this attack.

“Our priority is progressing this investigation quickly, with all the capabilities we have available to us. If anyone has any information, please share it with the police.

“We would like to thank local communities, the wider public and the media for their ongoing support and patience, and would ask them to continue to support us in the next stage of the investigation.”

We continue to appeal for anyone who may have any information that could help our investigation to get in touch.

Any relevant information, images or footage can be reported via the Major Incident Public Portal mipp.police.uk/operation/50DC26S51-PO1 or to Devon and Cornwall Police on 101.

Information can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Mark Chapman was flying back and forth from Hawaii while plotting his attack on John Lennon? Just looked at his Wikipedia and can honestly say I didn"t know about the stalking and obsession with musicians other than Lennon, the David Bowie section is chilling as are his other stalking missions against well known musicians. Some crazies get hooked on music, some on politics, others on just any celebrity.
