I think it’s a sad reflection on some sections of society who celebrate the murder of an elderly woman in their own home. Maybe they should take time to reflect on that.

They won"t, to a lot of people now their little political/social agenda trumps everything.

It's very sad. I disagreed with her on many things but could never dream of celebrating her death. There has to be room for a whole range of views in a democratic society, even those we vehemently disagree with.

There were street parties when Thatcher died, some people in politics are just hated, look at the threads on Farage for example.

I can't stand Farage but I wouldn't want him
to be murdered!!

No, but there are a lot of very unbalanced people wandering around the political spectrum, the public will be even less concerned now about his 5 million than they were before the council elections.

BBC breaking news- 28 year old man arrested on suspicion of murder in South Yorkshire

It’s quite shocking isn’t it to think that because someone has a different opinion to you that it is ok to celebrate their murder, there seems to be a lack of morality.

Yep, she deeply offended a lot of people and groups with her opinions though, they can"t get over that it seems.,

It doesn’t say so yet.

Surely unlikely to be a burglary with such a huge distance between them.

Noodledog · Yesterday 00:33

I think threats and any violence (even minor) against politicians needs to start to be taken far more seriously.

I agree that debate and robust criticism is fine and necessary, but there have been 2 MPs murdered in the past decade and now Ann Widdecombe. Keir Starmer has said that he's received death threats- and he's actually suffered attempted arson on his house!, and of course Nigel Farage has said the same. If we want a fair. representative democracy then this really needs to be cracked down on. If people want politicians who are happy to deal with violence and look after themselves, then sure, let's keep going. But don't complain when you end up with a load of corrupt thugs running the country.

They should but they won’t,it’s not in their DNA.

If you’re going to rage bait at least go full Mumsnet… Blame it on the fat lower class transgender, sorry, autogynephilic benefit fraudster who is a step-parent that watches Love Island, wears leggings as trousers, and also possesses a sex pond in their artificially-lawned housing association garden (in which they host anti-social barbecues), a top of the range Mercedes (paid for by PIP), a dog, and an outdoor cat.

Sky News saying White British National from South Yorkshire in police custody. Repeating earlier bit about too early to say if political or not.

Little point in speculating, but people who live in Devon could easily have family and friends in other parts of the UK. Now that the police have so much CCTV and ANPR available to them, plus all the Ring doorbell footage, it must be exceptionally difficult for a criminal to move about undetected.

By some people's reaction to the location, you'd think we hadn't even invented the wheel, yet.

-'In its latest update, Devon and Cornwall Police said: "We were supported by Counter Terrorism Policing North East and South Yorkshire Police who carried out the arrest on behalf of Devon & Cornwall Police.

"At this time, there is still no information to suggest that this is a terrorism related incident and as a force we retain primacy of the investigation."'
