I'm planning tomato and basil salad, some sort of salad with cold chicken/yoghurt/apple/walnuts, and a shedload of melon. And Lidl mini magnums for pudding!

I am getting a teeeny bit sick of tomatoes though so any other inspo for the rest of the summer is welcome...

CHicken caesar salad. I already boiled the eggs yesterday and cooked the chicken, so just need to cook the bacon.

Dox9 · 10/07/2026 14:58

Tomato and mozzarella salad with fresh buttered baguette.

I made a potato salad yesterday and have got some cooked chicken to have with it, along with a green salad of lettuce/radish/cucumber/sugar snap peas (I don't really like raw tomatoes so don't put them in salads).

Also having this but eggs and bacon in it is new to me, I just do the Delia one and cook buttermilk chicken pieces to go with.

Also so bored. I don't mind cooking but it's too hot for hot food.

We have been eating a lot of roast chicken salads. And tomatoes.

Tonight is flash fried lamb steak with cous cous. And tomatoes and cucumber!!

Cold rice noodle salad with grated carrot, shredded red cabbage and spring onion, roasted peanuts. Served with an Asian dressing of lime, chilli, fish sauce, sugar and water.

Meats, cheeses, and olives in the garden with a beer

PauliesWalnuts · 10/07/2026 15:16

Lunch was potted shrimps on toast because I’d just been to Booths. Daylight robbery for such a small tub but they are sooo good.

Tea is grilled lamb koftas, home made tabbouleh and tzatziki on flatbreads after my swimming session.

DH has chicken slices, coucous leftovers from last night, mixed salad, plus either boiled egg/beef slices, tuna or cheese.

I've got cold mackeral and mixed salad. Just been wondering what else to add - maybe some cheddar and walnuts - oh, and prosecco with strawberries before or after (watching tennis, that's my excuse).

DamsonIcecream · 10/07/2026 15:19

Gazpacho

Picpac876 · 10/07/2026 15:20

Ready to eat salmon with a salad. Had flatbreads for lunch with a feta, tomato and red pepper dip. No cooking needed, just a food processor.

madaboutpurple · 10/07/2026 15:26

Tuna salad ,a baguette and then Greek yoghurt for pudding with strawberries .I only like having salad on hot days so at the moment it is a case of finding something that goes with a salad. I have lost about half a stone. I need to get a belt as my jeans are at the stage they are almost falling down. There are some advantages to having a hot spell.

Made potato salad yesterday. Will make salad. Crusty bread. Tesco tortilla, cold cuts deli ham and salami, Camembert. Add hard boiled eggs.

we had something like this last night but with additional galangal, lemongrass, garlic, lime leaves and soy (vegan), plus peanut butter and coconut. So basically bang-bang salad. It was SO good and just what i was craving to eat in the garden.

Not quick exactly, but will be next time as i'll know what i'm doing and will use the processor to julienne everything.

SonK · 10/07/2026 15:50

I don't follow a recipe but have made it with boiled eggs and bacon for years and I'm sure I've had it in restaurants like that too. At the very least with bacon 🤔

I was starting to think I'd somehow gone off piste along the way, but I've found several recipes, so hopefully I haven't gone completely mad.

Caesar Salad

Caesar Salad has stood the test of time becauseit's darn good! This homemade Caesar Salad Dressing rivals any restaurant - store bought does not compare.
