If money and space was no object what animals would you have?

I’d love to have a huge herd of Guinea pigs. We currently have 2 as don’t have the space for more. I would also love to have capybaras.

DH would have a load of labradors.

I would have an enormous plot of land with a large lake with plenty of spots that I could relax and watch a huge variety of fish/ animals. If we’re really going all out, then there’d be a separate inlet from the sea on another part of my land (obvs couldn’t mix the fresh water and seawater) that was deep enough for a couple of dolphins to come and visit.

2 donkeys, more cats, pigmy goats, ducks and probably a dog

Backonthejab · 10/07/2026 14:30

I have wanted a serval for years! I compromised with a pair of savannah cats but when I met the breeder she introduced me to her serval and im even more smitten 😂 If I won the lottery I'd be buying a house with lots of land, having an enclosure built and buying my dream cat!

If money were no object, I’d have seahorses.

Having read other posts, I'm also gonna be needing bees, a few Highland ponies and a river for my otters.

The otters will have to move over and make way for your Newfoundlands! I do love them, but they spend half their lives being damp/wet and smelly, and the other half trying to get damp/wet and smelly.

I follow newfoundland accounts on instagram they are delightful, i couldn't have 1 though.

I would love some bees. I've got an allotment but we're not allowed them.

Bees are fascinating we had a swarm of them in our garden a few years ago they were all on the tree, the noise when they left was amazing.

Yes but I have unlimited space, which I'm going to assume means unlimited money, so my utility room is going to have a badass dog shower setup. Then I can watch my Newfies play with my otters.

Actually maybe I need a full time groomer too
🤔

Yes DH would need a full time dog groomer for the amount of labradors he wants. We had one and the hair was endless.

If I had as many Guinea pigs as I wanted I would need a spare fridge to keep all thier veg in. Though I’d never need to cut the grass again.

I've got some friends who have a malamute and he always looks immaculate, doesn't smell, doesn't leave hair all over your clothes. I mentioned it to my DD (8) who is besties with their daughter and apparently he gets a full groom every week. 😂

I could definitely make a full time job for someone with the number of dogs I'd like.

@Swissmeringue - a badass dog shower room is sheer genius!
I assumed unlimited money too, but if you have Newfies you'll save a packet by not putting the heating on.*

  • I may be projecting here just a tiny bit. The alternative in our case was being panted at very persistently by a big pongy mountain of fur with pleading eyes insisting on being let out into the garden to cool off, then on coming back in, then on being let out, then on coming back in... In the end it was easier to turn the heating off and leave the door open. 😬

Elephants. Just love them.

They take a bit of getting used to all right. I usually resist the lure of Insta because I know I'll lose whole weeks of my life to it, but I might just have to take a peek...

We used to have this problem with a chow chow. In the end we got him a dog flap which was horrifically bad for security because a skinny teenager could have got through it. Just imagining what sized dog flap you'd need for Newfie 😂

HippyChickMama · 10/07/2026 15:03

A pair of Highland cows called Morag and Hamish Macbeth
A couple of Newfoundlands and a couple of Irish Wolfhounds
A cat to keep the mice and rats away from the cowshed
