If money and space was no object what animals would you have?

I’d love to have a huge herd of Guinea pigs. We currently have 2 as don’t have the space for more. I would also love to have capybaras.

DH would have a load of labradors.

I'd have two donkeys. I have to make do with sponsoring one.

BangBangBangBangBang · 10/07/2026 12:24

Highland ponies

Untrustworthybottom · 10/07/2026 12:25

Well, I’ve already got cats but would probably have more. I’d very much like a raccoon or maybe an otter 😍

Frequency · 10/07/2026 12:26

A goat. I have always wanted a goat, mostly because I hate mowing and weeding and the lawn, and a goat would do it for me. I would have a herd of goats and hire them out to people for lawn maintenance.

I would open a goat rescue and call it a petting zoo so that unwitting members of the public pay to feed my goats for me Grin . I might even have "special experiences" so that people can also pay me to clean the goat houses and fill their water troughs.

Three Bernese Mountain dogs, a couple of Newfoundlands, some pygmy goats, a few alpacas and some chickens. Maybe some geese/ducks if we had a pond.

As it is we've got an ancient cat 😺, she needs a peaceful retirement, so it'll be just her and then we'll get the kids a dog later.

Wolfpa · 10/07/2026 12:29

I have always wanted to keep bees and would have half a dozen hives producing honey

Redflagsabounded · 10/07/2026 12:30

Suffolk punch and Icelandic horses, and a mule and a couple of donkeys. Working line Labrador and a Jack Russell. Couple of elderly rescue cats who need pampering.

Real fantasy ideas - a dromedary camel and tapirs.

Having read other posts, I'm also gonna be needing bees, a few Highland ponies and a river for my otters.

danglethedingle · 10/07/2026 12:30

Old horses and ponies that can have a lovely retirement, just being horses, until its time to give them a dignified and painless end.

HeartinWinter · 10/07/2026 12:31

Opened the thread to say guinea pigs! Probably six or seven in a room dedicated to them. Don't have any at the moment but did have two.

ghostyslovesheets · 10/07/2026 12:31

More cats - I’d have space for feral ones as well

a donkey and many sheeps

We have two!! Not ventures into Newfie scale yet.

Caffeinepleasenow · 10/07/2026 12:32

Hens and ducks. I love eggs.

NellieJean · 10/07/2026 12:33

Llamas or the ones that look like llamas whose name I can remember.

SilenceInside · 10/07/2026 12:33

Lots of rescue horses/equines and rescue dogs. Ones that are too medically complicated, too old, too odd looking and so on to be taken on by anyone else. If I won the lottery I would definitely do this!

Edited to add: Oh, rescue chickens and ducks probably too. And rescue cows, pigs and goats.... realistically probably any kind of rescue animal that needs a home!

rivalsbinge · 10/07/2026 12:34

We have the land not the time or money!

I would have highland cattle, maybe a donkey or two and more dogs is someone was going to look after them all. I already have 4 dogs so I think I’d be pushing it with cattle.

Ohhh maybe a few pigs as well and those cute sheep with the black faces.

I’d love to convert our conservatory into a Guinea pig house and have a tunnel that they could access the garden through.

17 cats

Sanch1 · 10/07/2026 12:42

Still none 😂

DogSnufflySnout · 10/07/2026 12:43

Bus loads of German Shepherds!!
I had 2 at the same time a few years back and I just loved it… My dream would be to have a “fair few”
But don’t tell the one sleeping on the sofa right now! 🐾

Oh my god. Don't tell my 8 year old, she'll start stalking you. There's one in our village and she knows it's movements like she's in the FBI and ensures we walk to school a particular way so we can see Mr Jingles every day! His owner actually carries treats for DD to give him at this point and has told me repeatedly she needs one of her own. 😂

But I'm pregnant with out third at the minute so I've got enough demanding creatures to be keeping alive so she's gonna have to wait another couple of years.

Aren’t you bothered that they stink to high heaven??

We fed some each day on holiday… they totally ponged! Cute and funny though🐐

aliasfrog · 10/07/2026 12:45

Ooh!!!
Rescue donkeys
Elderly drooly rescue cats
A greyhound
I'd love a goat but it would eat my plants
House rabbits hopping about indoors with me
A couple of cows
A flock of chickens
Guard geese
Ducks in a pond
A herd of alpacas I can harvest yarn from

So basically I'd have a farm.
