The Trump administration also just finalized a rule that guts the Endangered Species Act by erasing the definition of “harm” that has been in place for more than four decades. Since 1981, the law defined harm to include habitat modification or degradation that kills or injures wildlife by impairing breeding, feeding, or sheltering. That definition is now gone. Oil and gas companies, mining operations, and logging interests can now move into critical wildlife habitats so long as the animals themselves are not directly killed in the process. Before that, they rescinded the Public Lands Rule, opening 245 million acres of public land to extraction over the objections of 98 percent of public commenters. They rolled back protections for more than 300 million acres of Pacific Ocean. Across both terms, Trump has removed protections from more than 100 million acres of American land. They are not just dismantling institutions. They are destroying the land itself.

Yep, I'm aghast that a few people I know are still going to the States either for day trips or holidays. And yet I also know many that aren't going for moral reasons as well as fear of the border interrogation. And are avoiding purchasing US made products & produce. We need to take a stand against the bullies. It's the only way we, as individuals, can make an impact but it only works en masse. My brother and his family's attitude to the boycott is that it won't make any difference, so why bother...but he also couldn't identify any of the atrocities that are happening. Oblivious.

Not a hope of me travelling there at the moment.

The damage Trump is doing to to animal species and the environment is shocking as per pp. I have benefitted from 'big oil' all my life, and really the US should be leading on forcing them to protect animals and the environment. The technology, and policy and procedures are there to minimise harm, but no company is going to spend more if they can get away with spending less. Trump's opening the door and ushering them in.

Shell, amongst others, caused much environmental damage in Africa, in countries with corrupt leaders.

Name change for obvious reasons.

I have a longstanding arrangement with a group of people who live in another country that they can have a bit of our garden to store some of their military stuff and play with their airplanes. They come and go as they please, and apart from some issues about them using too much of our water, it works out ok.

But recently they started to argue with my neighbour. TBH, this neighbour is a bit awkward, but they do usually keep themselves to themselves, although they do have history with some other people who also live far away.

But now these people who have a bit of our garden have said they want our driveway as well, and the cheeky feckers are demanding we pay them 20% of the value of anything we get delivered or post. No matter what it is.

And they did this on social media. I was outraged. I mean I already gave them a Jumbo jet last year, and now they basically want 20% of everything we buy and sell. I was straight on the phone to them, and then they said this to their local news network.

“I put it out yesterday, I thought it was good. I was called by different people, different countries, kings and emirs, and all of the people that we all know and we all love. And they’ve been, frankly, they’ve been very strong partners. And they said we’d love to do it a different way.”

Well, I was one of these people, and frankly, I was so outraged that I demanded my Jumbo jet back. They did not answer me directly, but instead went on social media to say that I was going to pay them lots of money for them to do up their OWN house and Garden in THEIR own country. After they trashed mine by arguing with my neighbour.

AIBU if I tell them to fuck off ?
