Forecast for my area say we will come out of official heatwave (over 28) on Saturday! But only just, dropping down to 27.

It has been much cooler over night recently, which has allowed the house to cool down. There is a breeze (pretty strong yesterday) as well, so overall much more pleasant.

Still very concerning with regards to global climate change.

ForWiseRoseCat · 13/07/2026 09:01

I'm actually cold this morning! It reckons we'll get up to 28c today then back to 30c tomorrow but right now it's cloudy and breezy and reckons it's 20c.

Kepler22B · 16/07/2026 08:26

Forecast for my area is only 27 so we are officially out of heatwave!!!!! That was a long spell of very hot weather - I think it was 16 days in a row.

Glad of a bit of respite now. Long range forecast is still warm but in the mid 20s.

Still no rain in sight though ☹️.

the80sweregreat · 16/07/2026 16:13

It’s hot here today again. It’s getting a bit ground hog day :(

Fingers crossed it continues!! About time we had decent weather in summer… to be fair it will probably rain next week 🤦‍♂️

I absolutely hope it bloody does.

the80sweregreat · 16/07/2026 16:25

I want rain ! My garden and water butt are so dry and there is no moisture at all. It’s worrying

baroqueandblue · 16/07/2026 17:14

I just woke up from a nap and feel like I'm living in an oven again - no way is it only 27° right now in my part of south-east London! But the Met Office doesn't care what I think, of course 😅 Thank goodness it's forecast to get down to 14 overnight. Can't come soon enough! I actually feel a bit sick with it today, sort of heady and a bit numb. Hope everyone else is managing OK 😰

the80sweregreat · 16/07/2026 17:23

I felt hot earlier on , but it doesn’t feel as bad as last week. I still hate it though , still weeks to go .

I can safely say my butt is not dry 😥

Agree though its worrying water keeps everything alive

the80sweregreat · 16/07/2026 18:37

The water butt in the garden is now completely dry here! It doesn’t hold a lot of water , but enough for my small garden. No sign of a let up with the hot weather next week either.

Middlemarch123 · 16/07/2026 19:32

Superdrug are selling rechargeable handheld fans for £6 each, or two for £9. I bought two today. Didn’t expect them to do much but they charge really quickly, and they’re effective. Still cooler on the coast, but I’m staying inland for a few days and it’s so muggy. Hope you’re all coping. X

BurntBroccoli · 16/07/2026 22:07

It was 32C when I got into my car today - no air con either and I practically melted. Have taken to wrapping an ice pack in a cloth to rest against my back.

That's what I do as I have no air con either. It's fine when you're moving but when you stand still like when waiting in traffic it's unbearable

Oh ffs not again! Although it’s cooler now I have my usual post viral feeling and weakness I always get after a nasty period of heat. I just haven’t got it in me to do it again 😢

the80sweregreat · 19/07/2026 18:07

Oh no ! I saw that there may be rain next weekend , the forecaster sounded quite happy about it.
I hope it lasts longer than a few days and actually happens. Can’t abide the thought of 35 ..

WaltzingWaters · 19/07/2026 18:08

Hopefully won’t go til autumn. It’s glorious! (Sorry!)

I want rain as our garden is brown, but not next weekend please as we’re having a party. I can’t complain as we’ve have had three big gatherings here since mid June and the weather has been fabulous for every one.

It’s positively parky outside right now in Surrey. We’re having a barbecue but I’ve had to come inside while it’s cooking.

Kepler22B · 19/07/2026 18:43

I haven’t seen that - have you a link to the news article?

We do need rain so much ! It’s been so dry , I don’t like it like this where I live.

Weather maps show parts of UK to hit 38C in most intense heatwave

The hottest day of the year would be outstripped by the new temperatures later this month

The forecast for my area, East Midlands, is not showing a heatwave thank goodness. They get it so wrong so often anyway. Last week was meant to be very hot and it wasn't

East Midlands here too and hopefully it won’t get so bad although very often nowadays we aren’t far behind London and the south east when it comes to high temperatures.

Echobelly · 20/07/2026 07:15

Have been enjoying the mid 20s temps this week, which is my perfect weather. Not too hot, just lovely and warm. Two week forecast for London doesn't seem to indicate anything over 28C . No definite rain, though.
