Amazon delivery’s no longer knocking on my door - just dump it on the step and leave

Is anyone having issues with Amazon deliveries where they now just plink the parcel on your front door step- don’t even knock- then bugger off?

it’s now happening every time (so say my last 30 deliveries) and it’s really pissing me off.
could it be the drivers in my area only or is this a nationwide thing?

I know they’ll be under pressure to get their deliveries done but dumping and running is so frustrating.
it’s only a matter of time until one of my parcels is stolen.

Amazon and Evri are the worst culprits here. Always left on the doorstep which is 3ft from the pavement which is busy with pedestrian traffic. I’m so surprised no parcels have ever been stolen.
it’s infuriating, I have a side gate that the could put it behind and a parcel box leith directly next to the front door. I leave a bad review every single time.

Cobrakainerd · Today 18:29

I've had packages not delivered at all, then the online says 'handed to resident'. Usually getting as far as '2 stops away' then tracking disappears. I have Ring, so would know if they had been. Blatant theft by operators.

There is a large house with its long drive entrance next to our house. We pick parcels for that house left by their gate 2/3 times a week (yes, they know are are more than happy) and that’s from ALL couriers. Sometimes they leave them on our doorstep. Amazon are the best around here which isn’t saying much. Evri deliver around midnight and have happily left parcels on the doorstep in torrential rain. Yes. I’ve complained, it gets you nowhere.

I complained about an Evri parcel being left in the rain and the contemts ruined. The retialer replaced it but now Evri just don't deliver here. All my parcels get returned to sender as they were 'unable to deliver' after two attempts.

I think it’s individual rather than courier specific. My current Amazon delivery man is brilliant but have had issues in the past. I have had an issue with Evri courier dumping my parcels at the bottom of my stairs when I lived in a maisonette. I wfh so started keeping an eye for him and going out to ask him to actually bring up, he’d still dump it and Evri didn’t care. Currently have DPD dumping my pet food downstairs in my apartment building every time. I give a thumbs down every time but they don’t seem to care either. It annoys me having to go and collect when I have paid for delivery but I think they are probably happy with how many they ‘deliver’. I thought about asking the retailer to refund since it was not delivered to me so they raise it with them, but they are a small business and generally good so I feel guilty.

AddictedToBooks · Today 18:54

I've noticed it becoming a fairly regular thing too
This morning I had a package of books just dropped on my doorstep and left - no knock - I'd actually seen the van drive past and the driver peer in my window so I was already up and getting to the door, but maybe he figured I would get to the door anyway although even a cursory 1 knock would have been appreciated as he didn't see me getting up and for all he knows I might not have seen him.
I'm disabled and it really bloody hurts (I have Spinal Stenosis) to bend down but I did so and politely called thanks (as despite me having a disabled bay outside my house and bars on the side of my front door, people don't always register that I may have difficulty) and he didn't even turn or acknowledge me.
I'm in a nice mood today so I've just decided to leave no feedback at all as he wasn't really rude as such, just lacked a bit of courtesy but I don't know how big his load is.

shellyleppard · Today 18:55

mibe knock at the door . by the time ive got there they have vanished..poof!!!

shellyleppard · Today 18:57

evri delivered my parcel to the wrong street and left it behind a drain pipe!!!! probably still there in someones garden 😂

BashfulClam · Today 19:02

Ours almost takes the door off the hinges trying to ram the parcel through the letterbox. God forbid he has to talk to anyone.

At Christmas whoever was delivering jammed my small parcel behind the door handle. Aye great, luckily we had a back door as we couldn’t open the door due to that!

Vulcanvolcano · Today 19:03

It's a nationwide problem. Worse is when they insist on wrongly delivering other people's stuff by dumping.

My friend lives next door to a gated development which is a faff for the driver to access so they just chuck stuff for next door on to her drive. Amazon have just ignored her complaints but it's ridiculous how much it happens. It's like she's got a stalker.

I try to avoid using them and buy all my books from Waterstones now and if I can buy from a shop in person do that. I've had a lot of grief with Amazon wrongly delivering things that doesn't match the spec of the listing and got fed up with trying to return stuff. If you buy it in person they you know what you are getting as you can see it right there.

ERthree · Today 19:10

Our driver always knocks.

IwanttoWFH · Today 19:13

They knock but they don’t wait, they just leave the parcel on the doorstep. I prefer this as I usually can’t be bothered to answer the door! I’ll grab it when I’m ready.

SunnySunnyDayz · Today 19:14

The last time this was mentioned on here the first page of replies were 'you get a notification on your phone that it's been delivered, you can't expect them to hang around waiting for you'.

I'm on a quiet road but still don't want things dumped on my doormat in view of the street. And it does rain too.

I have a parcel box next to the front door, they manage to use that about half the time.

Rubyslipperswitch · Today 18:26

I stopped using Amazon for ethical reasons.

They probably pay couriers peanuts and pressure them to make as many deliveries as possible which is why the standards are low.

Same here

Ladybyrd · Today 19:18

Rather than moaning about the drivers, why don’t you stop ordering from a company that treats their labour force appallingly. There’s a reason why they don’t wait. Because they can’t.

In other news, I ordered a Ford today, expecting a Lamborghini. You get what you pay for, OP. Stop being cheap.

AnnaQuayRules · Today 19:19

I don't think any delivery drivers have knocked for months. Our house is on a main road with lots of passers by but we do have a driveway and an open porch so they leave stuff in the porch. It's relatively safe I think. If I was immediately on the road I'd be pissed off as anyone could nick stuff

hahabahbag · Today 19:19

They called yesterday with a parcel for next door so definitely not doing that here. I tend to use the locker anyway

islingtontrial · Today 19:20

We’ve had this problem for weeks. They just throw the parcel over the gate into the garden. We often can’t even see it from the house and don’t use that entrance because our car is parked at the back.

Moonnstarz · Today 19:23

Yep same here. They don't even make it to our door now. There are steps up to our house and they now tend to leave parcels down the bottom. Very poor as this is quite visible. Assume it is down to time pressure.

GracieGinny · Today 19:24

Blackcatahotcat · Today 18:03

I think it’s because of the extreme weather?

They’ve been doing it here for over a year and I WFH.

daffodilandtulip · Today 19:26

Same. Chuck it and run. Sometimes takes me all day to realise that it was “handed to me” hours ago.

HelpImMelting · Today 19:26

I go through the chat and make an official complaint every single time they do this. I mention the unacceptable security risk in advertising to the world that I'm not home, and failure to use my safe place. They don't care but it makes me feel a little bit better.

Icantbebothered · Today 19:27

I have a long driveway that I share with my neighbour (about 80metre driveway). My amazon delivery driver lefty parcel at the end of the shared driveway yesterday. Right out in the open, and then I got an email saying it was in my letterbox. This isn’t the first time either

I provide feedback on the driver every single time.

Buscobel · Today 19:27

Yes they do it here too and the only way I know there’s been a delivery is if I see the van or there’s an email to say it’s been delivered.

BlueFairyBugsBooks · Today 19:30

Happens here too. Ive put instructions on every single delivery app possible informing them NOT to leave parcels in the front garden/no safe place etc. They all still do it. A lot goes missing. I get most things sent to a different address now just to be safe.

Allseeingallknowing · Today 19:33

I complained to Amazon. Couriers have left packages in full view of a busy road. Nothing has changed, though Amazon say it’s not their policy to allow this
