Amazon delivery’s no longer knocking on my door - just dump it on the step and leave

Is anyone having issues with Amazon deliveries where they now just plink the parcel on your front door step- don’t even knock- then bugger off?

it’s now happening every time (so say my last 30 deliveries) and it’s really pissing me off.
could it be the drivers in my area only or is this a nationwide thing?

I know they’ll be under pressure to get their deliveries done but dumping and running is so frustrating.
it’s only a matter of time until one of my parcels is stolen.

Yup same here they just chuck it behind a bin and vanish

8TinyToeBeans · Today 18:00

Yep, they’ve started just dropping them and leaving here. Probably over the past few weeks I’ve noticed it become consistent.

Mine are left on my door step in full view of the street, they don't ring or knock. Then in the delivery report they state 'handed to resident '

Same here in North Western city

Blackcatahotcat · Today 18:03

I think it’s because of the extreme weather?

You can rate your Amazon delivery.
Do it every time.
There’s space to say what you’re not happy with.

Sepsissurprise · Today 18:03

Same here. No knock. Fortunately my video door bell sounds so I go check.

I often shout thanks as I can hear them at the bottom of the drive. I’ve assumed their load is huge and they haven’t the time to wait

Ponderingwindow · Today 18:05

This is the standard in my area and has been for years. They do not knock. It is just not a problem. We don’t really have pedestrian traffic beyond neighbors out for a stroll.

we have a ring camera that lets us know the packages have been delivered. Plus the Amazon app pops up with a notification.

i get multiple deliveries a day and have never had one stolen.

Havingasmashingtime · Today 18:05

Nope nothing to do with the weather it’s been going on weeks, today it’s 18 degrees here and once again dumped on my step

Same - but you can bet your ass if I was home alone and in the bath the driver would hammer the door down, even if it was a package that could go through the letterbox 🤷🏻‍♀️

JacknDiane · Today 18:07

I agree op, and to make matters worse, they take a picture of it lying on your doorstep and say thats proof of delivery!!!

You are lucky then as I live on a main road with a lot of people traffic. Could easily be stolen. But I do have a side section of my house that they could discreetly leave the package.

Ours are almost always left by the front door or just by the side gate now. No knock or bell ringing. Definitely escalated this year.

The only time they ring the bell is if it's a priority before 1pm delivery and then it tends to be the same guy who delivers (in his regular car) and he hands it over in person.

Sorry, why on earth do you thank them for not following your delivery instructions and leaving your parcels at risk of theft?
I get really cross with this and have spoken to a few (when I've managed to catch them before they scarper) and the last one told me his manager has said he isn't allowed to leave them in the (unlocked) porch. This is clearly nonsense as most other drivers do it. I get that they're in a hurry but that's not my problem and Amazon need the feedback EVERY SINGLE TIME that you're not happy. Unfortunately, the feedback "thumbs down" service often doesn't work - although funnily enough the thumbs UP one does.

WildClover · Today 18:08

Same here..don't even bother to knock

Noce · Today 18:08

The driver told my husband a few weeks ago that they had changed their policy and they would now leave the parcel in the safe place

tinyspiny · Today 18:09

Same here , if you are lucky they knock the door , been going on since Covid times in our area . Our local Evri person doesn’t even bother to find the right house they just seem to pick one that’s convenient to park outside and dump it there , always loads of posts on our local fb page of people trying to reunite parcels with the correct home .

BillyBites · Today 18:09

My gripe is that they don't even bother with the safe place (which just involves opening the outer front door and placing the parcel on the floor there).

Havingasmashingtime · Today 18:10

So seems it’s happening everywhere.
I know they’ll will be under so much pressure to get them all delivered, but the day will come my parcel is knicked- I tell Amazon and they present me with a photo of it on my step and it becomes my problem not theirs.

Amazon are really good when things go wrong with deliveries IMO, better than the other companies.

Things don't go missing as a general rule and it's a risk worth taking, for me, for the convienience.

KnittyKnotty · Today 18:14

Yes, been like that for a few years now. Apart from today when he needed my year of birth and I had to endure:-

Him "are you sure, you don't look over 25 hee hee 😉"
Me "yes, I'm 48 🙄"
Him "oh, I'm not sure, might need to take it back "
Me "oh aren't you funny, can i have my parcel now"

How hilarious, had to sew my sides back up.....

PersonOnTheInside · Today 18:15

I wondered about the safe place thing. I think mine says leave by the side gate so they just do that now.

I read somewhere ages ago that if you designate a safe place then it can absolve the delivery company of blame and affect your consumer rights. So you're better not having a safe place!

hoxtonE1 · Today 18:22

We only had one driver that knocked, every one after has left the boxes on the doorstep.
I always leave a large plastic recycling box by the door, it's never been used, no, they leave the parcels/boxes right in front of the door. Never had anything nicked but we installed a camera; not that it would help.

Loopylalalou · Today 18:23

There is a large house with its long drive entrance next to our house. We pick parcels for that house left by their gate 2/3 times a week (yes, they know are are more than happy) and that’s from ALL couriers. Sometimes they leave them on our doorstep. Amazon are the best around here which isn’t saying much. Evri deliver around midnight and have happily left parcels on the doorstep in torrential rain. Yes. I’ve complained, it gets you nowhere.

Rubyslipperswitch · Today 18:26

I stopped using Amazon for ethical reasons.

They probably pay couriers peanuts and pressure them to make as many deliveries as possible which is why the standards are low.
