Amazon delivery’s no longer knocking on my door - just dump it on the step and leave

Is anyone having issues with Amazon deliveries where they now just plink the parcel on your front door step- don’t even knock- then bugger off?

it’s now happening every time (so say my last 30 deliveries) and it’s really pissing me off.
could it be the drivers in my area only or is this a nationwide thing?

I know they’ll be under pressure to get their deliveries done but dumping and running is so frustrating.
it’s only a matter of time until one of my parcels is stolen.

Seems to be all the delivery companies here not just amazon. They don't even ring the bell. It has been this way for the last year or so.

I do wish they had a few more available and plausible options for the delivery people, though, so they don't just have to find a 'best fit' explanation of where they left it - like 'handed to resident' or the baffling (for a private household) 'left at reception'.

Amazon only has a Photo of Delivery programme where the drivers snap a quick pic of the delivered item so that they cover themselves that the item was delivered; I've seen them do that.
Amazon also has in the order form, an option where you can select a designated 'safe spot' or lock box where the item could be left safely.
We did that twice; they still put it in front of the door, they obviously favour speeding up the delivery process over a secured delivery.

Same! I have delivery instructions set up, asking for parcels to be left in my enclosed porch if I'm not home. It doesn't matter whether I'm home or not, they've started to just leave them on the front doorstep, for all to see and potentially steal.

Same. They aim the delivery in your general direction at any time they like. I think delivery services are going downhill at a rate of knots.
I hate how noisy they are, yelling into their phones as they dump stuff outside. Also smoking cigarettes on my porch and yelling into their phones. I hate it. So unprofessional, invasive, inconsiderate. I’m in london and I think we may have it the worst.

I live in a communal retirement place that you have to access via a key pad or someone lets you in. Amazon drivers have now taken to dumping stuff outside the main access door rather than pressing the buzzer to be let in.
I then get a notification to say it has been delivered to my "safe space"!

I have complained to amazon about this, but nothing gets done.

I'm absolutely not accusing any individual delivery drivers, and I'm sure the vast, vast majority are completely decent, honest, hardworking people; however I have seen videos posted on TwiX whereby the Amazon delivery person puts the parcel in front of the customer's door, takes a photo for 'proof', clicks to confirm that delivery has taken place... and then they immediately steal it!

It's been so ever since COVID for me, but at least they used to knock & run, now they don't even knock. They also don't put it in the "safe place". Last week I selected Monday delivery because I was away over the weekend & didn't want it sitting on the doorstep. Sure enough it was left on the doorstep on Saturday for all to see.

But they also get stolen!

Not where I live. I suppose if you live in a town it might be different.

Oh another scam...replacing your parcel with something else as part of theft.. I ordered a fairly expensive item. The parcel we received was a Tesco 6 can pack of dog food and a used pack of wipes. It was scheduled for delivery between one set of times, it wasn't delivered at this time, showed as back at depot, an then reappearing on the tracking a couple of hours later, they 'delivered' the fake package.

I live in a flat and this has been going on for ages now, but I'm lucky if they actually leave it outside my flat's front door - they often just leave them in the entrance foyer downstairs, or and this is increasingly happening, they'll leave it outside of the actual door to the foyer, where anyone could see it/pinch it/accidentally step on or crush it just going in and out of the building.

This is especially annoying when we're having drastic weather changes like pouring rain or extreme heat as the packages wouldn't be protected from them at all!

ours are very often left on the step - but it can’t be seen from the main road so we would be unlucky if anything was taken .

worse for me was the Christmas present train set that went flying over the side gate one year in the pouring rain

Yes I've had the same and was in the house all the time. The feedback said the parcel was handed to resident. My OH said he was not satisfied with the delivery but I doubt anything will come of it.

We’re in Yorkshire and virtually every Amazon delivery over the last month or so has been dumped on the doorstep, they can’t be arsed to ring the bell or knock on the door. Most of the time we only know it’s been delivered when we get the delivery email. Packages have been left on our doorstep when we’ve been out too, thankfully we’re on a quiet street with no real passing traffic. The drivers don’t tend to take photos of this packages but the notification will often say ‘handed to resident’ which makes me fume.

About 50% of ours are just left by the front door. They don’t even knock.

They’ve not knocked in years. Just sling it in the direction of the doorstep

I took in Dd's Amazon Parcel today. He needed a photo so I held it as usual but driver said they were no longer allowed to show the recipient or the door number so needed to take the photo of it on the doormat. Seems bizarre to me.

Amazon don’t even put it by the door they just throw it over the gate. I came home today & the neighbour had a hello fresh delivery & they made no attempt at delivery, they’d just left the boxes outside the garden gate.

Same - we live on a busy road . If it’s a small package behind a plant pot it may be ok, bit a large package on the step definitely not acceptable.Amazon say their couriers are not allowed to do this- what a joke!

Same here. Sadly this is probably the only way they can hit their targets and make any money.

Do you really need all these Amazon deliveries? Vote with your money.

That's not universal, I had one take a photo of the parcel in my hand today

There's no consistency in whether they knock or don't, I guess it's very dependent on the round on the day

even though I am in leave down the side of the house. I wouldn’t mind but they walk past the window where my office is and I normally working. But they don’t secure the gate, so the dog and cat can get out. I even put an extra lock and they unlocked that and never locked it up.

I removed my safe place and they still do it. Said many a time to them to not do it. Complained and now leave behind the bin.
