Enjoyed a quiet skinny dip at the local pool during the heat

I just had the best evening ever. I went to my local pool and there was no one in the sauna area so I went swimming naked and totally alone. It was over 40°C here today and it was bliss

Sounds great OP! Gives me encouragement to go the local nudie beach and give it a try before the warm weather goes.

Why not. Do it if you can?

I didn’t do anything wrong. I was just saying howmnice it felt to be able to do that without being naughty or breaking rules.

The staff will be laughing. Alot. Probably every time you walk in there again.

nocoolnamesleft · 29/06/2026 12:48

To channel our infection control team: perineal fall out.

Why? When it is allowed. The whole sauna area is naked. We even got told off one evening when another part was without swimsuits and we had swimsuits on.

There won't be CCTV over a naked sauna area but a pool without a lifeguard must be monitored for safety.

You will have made their day & they will be giggling every time they see you.

It is very funny watching people do 'naughty' things when they don't think you are watching them!

Wenttoaweddingonamonday · 30/06/2026 08:36

Mate. You think you’ve posted an eye opening thread 😂

“Person goes to Austrian sauna and follows rules” is not discussion worthy

So you swam naked in a pool where you could swim naked.

Am I missing something Confused

No OP was just missing some attention, think you've got the gist of it!

What are you talking about? She didn’t do anything naughty. It’s a nude area of the centre, with saunas and a small pool only to be used whilst naked. So she used it whilst naked. No one is laughing at her and no staff are going to be laughing every time she comes in. It’s literally the naked pool and she swam in it naked - she isn’t allowed to wear a swimming costume in that area with that pool.

She wrote her OP pretending it was some sort of freeing naughty thing she did, then admitted that she was actually just following the pool rules because it’s a nude pool and sauna area. It’s a completely pointless thread from someone trying to seem edgy but actually just someone using a nude pool for its intended purpose.

BeaPerry · 30/06/2026 11:54

The context / culture is everything

many places in the world it is not wise for women to be naked ….

blimey in some places, women out alone without men whilst fully dressed are at risk -

i read your naked pool swim as braggy and very naive - but enjoy your privilege!!

LlynTegid · 01/07/2026 16:08

This is the UK. Some of the new saunas that have started over the last few years I am aware have tried clothes free or clothes optional sessions. The behaviour of a few men has led to some being changed to require swimwear.

Mycarsmellsoflavender · 01/07/2026 18:52

Saunas where you have to be naked were totally normal in Germany over 30 years ago and I expect still are now. Nothing sensational or unusual about it. I don’t recall there being any swimming pools that were textile-free though, just the sauna and shower area.

I’ve been in German saunas naked and English saunas with swimming costume on and can’t say it made any difference either way to how much I enjoyed the experience. German swimming complexes though are amazing.

Flatinbed · 01/07/2026 19:29

This thread is sad reading. The OP wants to say that she had a nice time doing something. And then comes many insults and belittlement.

I am happy that the OP enjoyed a lovely experience.

Hellohelga · 01/07/2026 19:37

Strange reactions on here. Isn’t OP just saying she had a nude swim in a country where it’s the norm and it was a nice experience? Is there anything wrong with that. And she’s right we are v uptight in the uk about that sort of thing.

holiholidays · 01/07/2026 19:40

I have my own pool (UK) and regularly swim naked and totally alone. It's soooo much nicer swimming without a costume. And sooo much nicer not having to share a pool. Glad you were able to experience that, OP.

I think it is because initially she was trying to make out she was being oh-so naughty and bohemian.

She had a nude swim in a pool where it's ok to swim nude - it wasn't the sort of daring or naughty thing it was initially made put to be. In some countries they have pools where you can do that, in others they don't - the latter doesn't mean uptight, it's just different cultural norms. Some parts of Germany are very uptight - try using a pool wearing a swimsuit where it's swim naked day and you'll get your covered arse handed to you. It's very strict.

Flatinbed · 01/07/2026 22:22

So it is okay to be unpleasant? Very childish...takes my back to my teenage years

That was what I meant but I guess it all came out wrong. And because I’m British it did feel naughty even though it was allowed. You can take the girl out of Britain but can’t take Britain out of the girls.

This is actually quite normal in Germany, isn’t it? I don’t think there’s anything dodgy about this post, or op. There’s a lovely city that we've visited a few times in Germany that also has natural thermal waters. We’ve visited the large thermal spa there a few times. As op has described it has many areas - indoor and outdoor natural thermal pools, saunas etc. First time we went we went to have an explore upstairs, after using the pools, saunas etc downstairs. We were surprised to find that the top floor was all no clothing allowed, as we’d never experienced anything like this before. It wasn’t personally our thing so we went back down to the main area, but it’s absolutely a thing in Germany.

JustPassingTime · 08/07/2026 14:32

I took a shower, derobed, and it was amazing. Water went to the bottom of the shower tray, trickled down the drain and I never felt so free.

I can remember one evening it was naked swimming evening and the kids were with us and we were told they must take their costumes off.

Sorry that my OP made out I had broken the rules. But it felt bad to feel free. As I said it is our culture in the UK. And I wasn’t bashing the UK at all. Just sometimes find things that I’m allowed to do here strange and exciting that it wouldn’t be allowed back in my homeland

Yes the swimming pools are amazing in Germany, huge centre for everyone. I am so lucky I have this one 20 minutes away and use it often.
