Enjoyed a quiet skinny dip at the local pool during the heat

I just had the best evening ever. I went to my local pool and there was no one in the sauna area so I went swimming naked and totally alone. It was over 40°C here today and it was bliss

I think a naked swim sounds bliss. It definitely feels different naked in water v cossie. Good for you finding yourself a few moments of joy 😊

ChaToilLeam · 28/06/2026 15:43

Ah, so that whole area is textilfrei anyway, you were just lucky enough to have it to yourself?

Nice for you that you enjoy that part of German culture - I personally don't so I stay on the other side with my cossie on.

Just skinny dip in the sea

Would be nice if the sea wasn’t 4 hours away

Honestly ,this thread reads like “Im a vegetarian who doesnt eat meat or fish. Ive found a vegetarian restaurant so Im having my dinner here. Unlike people who do eat meat and fish and have to eat somewhere else!”

I bet they had a right laugh watching the CCTV. If there's no lifeguard there's almost certainly CCTV monitoring!

CCTV monitoring can be tedious but it's moments like this that get us through the day.

OP are you planning to go back? Sorry but every member of staff will have seen or at least heard about it

I didn’t do anything wrong. I was just saying howmnice it felt to be able to do that without being naughty or breaking rules.

It actually made me think about our culture in the UK and how hung up everyone is about naked bodies. Here I was feeling very free and cooler when we’ve had over 40° for a week now. How we were brought up that we shouldn’t let children see naked bodies. That is where my head went when I was alone in the pool. I was thinking this wouldn’t be possible if I was still in the UK.
I must admit I am very lucky to have such a great pool so near me, with 3 different areas. One is a fun area with an indoor pool for lane swimming with springboards as well. A flume, outdoor pool and baby pool.
Then there is the thermal area. Inside and outside with water from a local spring. My psoriasis has now gone from going regularly.
Then there is the sauna area with 10 different saunas. Indoor and outdoor pools (not big).
All have nice gardens to walk in or lie on a sun lounger.
I have a group of people, male and female, I would call friends that I have met at the pool but I wouldn’t recognise them if I passed them on the street with clothes on.
We chat at the pool bar after the sauna and it is very much a social event with no stress or leering men. Ok at the bar we have dressing gowns on.
Maybe I drip fed a little and context is everything but it’s interesting to see where the mind goes immediately if you post something.

and if you'd posted a version of this you could potentially have had an interesting thread about the differences between countries, healthier lifestyles, benefits of communal nudity, and other things.

But YOU decided to use the wording you did and just make it weird.

AImportantMermaid · 28/06/2026 17:46

You’re a man, aren’t you?

Tablesandchairs23 · 28/06/2026 17:50

Does the pool have cctv!

Doesn’t matter if they do. It is allowed.

Yes maybe. But immediately you get jumped on. If it was allowed where you are would you take advantage of it.

I didn’t do anything wrong. I was just saying howmnice it felt to be able to do that without being naughty or breaking rules.

But your OP makes no sense then - you said there was no one else there so you went for a naked swim, you linked the two issues implying that you were only able to swim naked because no one else was there so you could get away with it. When actually, it wouldn’t matter how many people were around because it’s a textile free area of the leisure centre.

Basically your post is “I went for a naked swim in the naked area of the leisure centre, which is exactly what I am meant to do there.” It has nothing to do with no one else being around.

People have no problem with you swimming naked in a pool where the rules say you must be naked. You got negative responses because you made it seem like you had done it sneakily because the place was empty and you were breaking the rules.

ChaToilLeam · 28/06/2026 17:57

Yep, sorry but the initial post made it seem that you were having a sneaky nudie dip where it's not normally allowed.

Ilovegermany · 28/06/2026 17:59

I admit it did seem that way at first with the initial post.

Lexy2345 · 28/06/2026 17:59

What an empty brag this turned out to be. Naked swimming in a swimming pool is not brave or liberating if it's the norm where you are.

dizzydizzydizzy · 28/06/2026 18:15

Hallywally · 28/06/2026 13:29

why not include in your post that you’re abroad and it’s allowed in the pool as it totally changes the context. In the UK, unless it was a naturist resort, you could get arrested just deciding to skinny dip in a leisure centre/spa/gym pool.

I used to be a lifeguard in a (UK) leisure centre. Definitely no nudity in or around the pool allowed. Occasionally, I used to have to tell people off for getting changed in the seating area by the pool,
even if they were doing it very discreetly - it was strictly against the rules. We did have a spacious changing room though.

SirChenjins · 28/06/2026 18:20

So you swam naked in a pool where you could swim naked.

Am I missing something Confused

Ilovegermany · 28/06/2026 18:27

But it still feels liberating when you grew up in the uk.

I love a nudey swim.

We have a villa in Florida and we swim naked in our little pool all the time. I’m amazed we haven’t been reported to the HOA. We were given a violation for not bringing in our bin, but no-one has noticed us flouting this rule 😂

The Chair of the HoA is probably still 'gathering evidence' through a telephoto lens.

You might hear something about it when you hit 80 years old.

OK - but you could have swum naked even if other people have been there.

Flatinbed · 28/06/2026 19:47

Sounds great OP! Gives me encouragement to go the local nudie beach and give it a try before the warm weather goes.
