Enjoyed a quiet skinny dip at the local pool during the heat

I just had the best evening ever. I went to my local pool and there was no one in the sauna area so I went swimming naked and totally alone. It was over 40°C here today and it was bliss

You need some better stories.

It would have been just a blissful with your swimsuit on. You’re lucky no one caught you. That was a really disrespectful thing to do. If I’d stumbled across a naked person in my local pool I’d have been very pissed off. Why did you think that was an ok thing to do?

I don't think that's right. Naked swimming does feel very different

AbsoluteHoot · 28/06/2026 13:59

I love a nudey swim.

We have a villa in Florida and we swim naked in our little pool all the time. I’m amazed we haven’t been reported to the HOA. We were given a violation for not bringing in our bin, but no-one has noticed us flouting this rule 😂

Ilovegermany · 28/06/2026 12:14

I didn’t break any rules. I would have been told off if I had my costume on in that area. When you step into the sauna area it is costumes off.
Mobile phones, tablets etc banned.
I grew up in the UK but have been abroad for 30 years now.
At first it felt very un-British doing these things but now it’s just part of my life.

But presumably you're expected to wear a swimsuit in the pool?

Whatever floats your boat I suppose.

CloudyWithAChanceOfCustard · 28/06/2026 14:10

Get yourself a diary OP…and write in that!

UhOhRatPoo · 28/06/2026 14:13

Can you clarify OP, are people expected to wear a costume in the pool?

I’m very familiar with naked sauna etiquette from ski holidays in Austria. But I can’t recall one with a pool attached, other than a cold naked plunge pool.

Swimming naked is so much nicer than swimming with a costume on! But obviously only to be done in places where its ok to do - I swim naked in quiet lakes where there's no one else around (nothing beats a naked midnight swim) and one day I'd like to go to the swimming pool in Helsinki where swimming costumes are optional (but sessions are sex segregated)

Ilovegermany · 28/06/2026 14:30

It actually made me think about our culture in the UK and how hung up everyone is about naked bodies. Here I was feeling very free and cooler when we’ve had over 40° for a week now. How we were brought up that we shouldn’t let children see naked bodies. That is where my head went when I was alone in the pool. I was thinking this wouldn’t be possible if I was still in the UK.
I must admit I am very lucky to have such a great pool so near me, with 3 different areas. One is a fun area with an indoor pool for lane swimming with springboards as well. A flume, outdoor pool and baby pool.
Then there is the thermal area. Inside and outside with water from a local spring. My psoriasis has now gone from going regularly.
Then there is the sauna area with 10 different saunas. Indoor and outdoor pools (not big).
All have nice gardens to walk in or lie on a sun lounger.
I have a group of people, male and female, I would call friends that I have met at the pool but I wouldn’t recognise them if I passed them on the street with clothes on.
We chat at the pool bar after the sauna and it is very much a social event with no stress or leering men. Ok at the bar we have dressing gowns on.
Maybe I drip fed a little and context is everything but it’s interesting to see where the mind goes immediately if you post something.

Lots of detail there but you still haven't answered my question.

PintofFizz · 28/06/2026 14:33

We have lots of pervy OPs on MN and plenty of anti-uk ones too but this is the first time I've seen anyone manage to combine the too. Hats off (and everything else off) OP.

I had a fatty dip in the sea last year. 🙂

A chunky dunk?

No. That whole area is swimsuit free. It’s the small square pool on the right of the picture.

What is perverse about it? And anti Uk. I am from the UK. The fact that I was able to do it without breaking any rules just made me think about our culture in the UK.
That people jump to it being perverse to swim naked. We are born without clothes. People have a much healthier perspective about their bodies here. Doesn't matter what size people are they are more comfortable in their bodies. I’ve seen ladies in their 70s at the sauna and thought wow I hope I look that good in 20 years.
I have had my eyes opened too - have seen nipple and penis piercings but that’s how it is and we all say hello to each other as regulars there.

UhOhRatPoo · 28/06/2026 14:49

Ah Ok. You made it sound like you only swam naked because nobody was around, so there was some sort of illicit thrill.

Now I understand. You are saying that swimming naked (which you can do any time) was extra nice because you were alone so it was more peaceful than usual.

Looks like a fab place.

I sometimes go to a UK naturist spot by a river, it’s really lovely.

Yes but why would I want to see your naked body? I am a nurse and have seen it all believe me but if i was going swimming a cock and balls in my face isnt something I want to see. If that floats your boat how wonderful, best that you left us pearl clutchers in the UK.

I’ve swum naked at a similar spa in Austria, OP - it is a lovely feeling.

PintofFizz · 28/06/2026 15:01

There's nothing perverse about it....but like all these type of threads you'll start to ramp it up until the thread gets taken down.

Either that you're you'll just disappear.

The UK has loads of naturist beaches. You sound like you’ve lived a very sheltered life if you think wearing the appropriate attire in a pool/sauna is newsworthy!

Yes exactly that but because I was alone I started thinking about how it is back home in the UK.

“Our culture in the UK and how hung up everyone is about naked bodies”…well apart from the sweeping generalisation ..so what? You dont live here anymore and have found a place to live where you can happily swim with your bits out so whats the point of this thread?
